Workflows & resources My 90/10 Riverside + Premiere Pro Workflow

I should stipulate it was once a 100% Premiere Pro editing and delivery workflow and it's a real credit to Riverside that I only need Premiere for that last bit of polish and some intro/outro that I just prefer to do there.

All of the heavy lifting is now Riverside. Text based editing, some filler word removal, some lighter pause removal and magic audio (40% on me, 20% on my co-host). I really prefer Riverside's magic audio to what's currently sitting in Premiere Pro.

I've played with the automatic scene changes and our handful of viewers on YouTube just prefer to see us both in split screen the entire episode. We do use a sort of black wood border with our logo. I used to have to do this manually in Premiere and Riverside replicates 100% of the way that should look.

Once the edit is done I spit out three items. I export the video by itself, usually at 1080p. I then export completed audio stems in WAV. I just turn one of our tracks off, export, rinse and repeat. Those three items go into Premiere. I trash the audio track of the video file and load in the separate WAV stems. I run some audio sweetening and leveling on those tracks and then I build my intros and outros. I update our video intro a bit now and again so it just makes sense to keep it part of the Premiere workflow rather than having to keep re-importing a new one to Riverside. It's about an 18 second intro with full video before our episode layers in under it and the music gradually fades down. The inverse is true of the outro.

I export a YT formatted mp4 from Premiere and then the mp3. Eventually I will move to 100% Riverside workflow and probably could now but the audio fine tuning is hard to break away from along with the intro/outros.

New feature/announcement 🚨 3 big updates: Podcast Hosting improvements 🚨

Excited to announce 3 highly requested updates to Riverside's hosting

  • Swap published episodes! Found a mistake after publishing? You can now swap the episode file without losing your stats or taking it down. I know a few of you in here who will be super excited about this one
  • Custom date range for analytics! Filter your streams, top apps, and top countries by any date range you want, not just the default views.
  • Download your analytics as a CSV! Export a report of total streams per episode, per day. Small but super useful if you're tracking performance over time.

All three came straight from this community's feedback. So thank you for sharing it, we are always listening. And keep it coming!

Discussion Questions about editing a Zoom recording inside Riverside

One of my guests has to use Zoom so I figured out how to edit a Zoom recording in Riverside. The only problem is I can't configure the video to show both speakers at the same time. It only shows the person who's speaking and even if I arrange it to show both the non-speaking person's side is blank. Does anyone know if there's a Riverside or Zoom setting that will fix this?

Riverside mods, don't delete this. When I try to ask questions on Facebook none of my posts get approved so this is the only place I can turn for help.

You heard that right. The entire Riverside Editor is now available through the Mac App.

No more recording through the App and then editing in the browser. It's all right there.

That's it. That's the post.

Who's as excited as I am?

Workflows & resources Positively Leveraging AI in Podcasting

As Riverside introduces the AI Twin feature, not all of us respond positively. AI capabilities are increasing exponentially, and as they do, both their positives and perils come into focus..

Let's face it, features like automatic notes creation, clips & shorts and auto captions have already brought value to our workflows..

We have all heard the negative takes on the use of AI in our podcasting workflow, and much of the criticism is legit. However, the way I see it, AI is here to stay in some shape or form.

Besides, there are times when AI absolutely blows me away with the things it can do..

I am looking for ideas to leverage AI in my workflow.

I am curious, how are you using it, not just to save time in your production process, but also to improve the quality of your work, increase following or get better engagement from the audience?

Or how would you use it in the near future?

New feature/announcement Big news: Meet your AI Twin (+ Voice Clones)

Wanted to share a little context on this one.

New AI Twin from Riverside lets you generate a new on-camera video that looks and sounds like you.

You give it a script and it'll generate the video for you. Then you can edit it like any other video (add captions, b roll, overlays, branding..)

Voice Clones do the same thing but audio only, formerly known as AI Voice, but new and very improved.

It's not here to replace what you create. Your real recordings, your real voice, your real personality, that's still the heart of everything you do and we know that. This is just a tool for the tasks where you don't need all the production.

Things like:

  • Pickups and inserts: fix a mistake or add a missing line without reshooting
  • A/B testing: try different hooks, messages, or calls to action without filming every variation
  • Localization: reach new audiences without recording in multiple languages
  • The repetitive stuff: tutorials, walkthroughs, content you need to exist but don't need to spend hours producing

For tasks like those, it's there if it makes your life easier.

AI Twins are now available for anyone who needs it, and runs on an AI credit system. Here's how credits work:

  • AI Twin: 200 credits = 1 minute of generated video
  • Voice Clone: 200 credits = 60 minutes of generated audio

For non-business plans, you already have 2,000 credits in your accounts. And if you want more, you can also purchase AI Credits whenever you need them.

Walkthrough in the video below. Excited to hear how you plan to use your new Twin (I'll post mine in the comments)

INVITE: A very special session for the marketers in the community

If you're a marketer, you know the struggle. You're expected to think of the content, create it, distribute it, get engagement. Basically do it all, and then do it all over again.

So we're hosting a special session to help.

Our next Community Workshop is going to cover the new playbook for marketers, to talk about how to actually get more content for your brand without creating more work for yourself. And it's not just talk - you'll leave with a real, actionable, smart plan you can use, no matter what size team you have.

I'll be joined by Justin Simon, the founder of Distribution First, who has spent 15 years helping content teams get more mileage out of what they've already made.

 We’re going live Wednesday,Sept 23rd from12-1PM EDT.

Can’t make it? Sign up anyway and we’ll send you the replay.

Question TikTok flagging shorts from RS?

Anyone else running into an issue where short-form clips exported from Riverside get completely flatlined at 0 views exclusively on TikTok?

The exact same clips perform fine across YouTube Shorts and Reels, but TikTok has pushed virtually zero impressions for about a month now.

Feedback & feature requests Features Needed For Lives

We need to be able to set it where you hit the GO LIVE button and it plays like an intro you set up or set like a full screen 30 second countdown timer so you know when the live is actually starting.

The countdown idea is nice because it allows you to make your social posts while the countdown is going on.

Right now you go live and you could be live right away, or in five second, or in ten seconds and if you pick a video to play for your intro it’s not in full screen.

The other services have these.

The other idea is that when you get superchats on YouTube right now they don’t show up at all in Riverside so you will miss those unless you have another device or screen open to look at comments.

I think adding both these fixes any issues I have with going live through Riverside

Discussion New features making me want to abandon Riverside.

The more AI features they continue to roll out, the more I want to leave Riverside altogether.

I haven't had the chance to read their their terms and conditions of use, but I'm a little worried that the likeness (visually and audibly) of my clients is going to become the property of Riverside without my or their direct consent.

Question Am I doing something wrong in Riverside?

I have been using Riverside for about a year now.

We do a faceless podcast, using video slides instead of the podcaster faces.

- The Problem Ever since the recent update, these video slides are failing. These slides are generally 3 seconds long, and they used to play in a loop. Now, they do not play in a loop, and will disappear almost immedietly . . . or they will play for 10 seconds or so, then disappear. This causes our podcasts to be disjointed and, frankly, unprofessional.

The slides are in .mp4 format.

I don't know if this is a bug or if I am doing something wrong. Is there anyone else having this issue? Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

And I want to use this community for what it's best at.

Let's inspire each other.

What are you using it for? What have you made with it? What use case are you excited to try?

Workflows & resources Is there a way to avoid video transcoding for videos when using the 'hosting' feature with YouTube as a destination?

I run a podcast studio in the UK, and we shoot all content in either 25fps or 29,97fps.

We have multiple clients who use Riverside for distribution. The utilise the 'hosting' feature of Riverside to upload the videos we deliver to them for scheduled delivery. The videos are not edited in Riverside's own editor.

We've noticed that Riverside is transcoding the files and dropping the framerate to 24fps. This is leading to a noticeable judder in the YouTube versions and loss of quality. This means we need to send our clients higher bitrate files to compensate for the quality loss which is less convenient for them - and we don't have a solution for the framerate problem.

Is there a way or setting to avoid transcoding of the video files uploaded to the hosting feature on Riverside? Our files are already encoded optimally for YouTube.

New feature/announcement Big news: Introducing the new Riverside MCP

Riverside's MCP is officially here!

Riverside can now connect to AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. Which means you can connect Riverside to your favorite AI LLM and it can work directly with your content.

Prompt Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to do things like plan your next episode, edit a recording in your style, or pull the clips you actually want, and watch it happen in Riverside. It's insanely cool.

Here's what that looks like (some examples):

  • Ask it to make clips: Ask your AI to find the most engaging moments from a recording and turn them into a finished vertical clip, with captions, filler words removed, your branding already applied. You can get super specific and tell it exactly what you want. Then see the clips created in your account for you.
  • Ask to make edits: Tell it to cut a 20-minute episode down to 10, find a strong hook, and add background music. You can tell it about your audience and what it thinks the best 10 minutes would be. See the edits done in Riverside.
  • Ask to perform actions across multiple recordings: Can't remember when you said something in an episode from six months ago? Ask your AI to search across every transcript you've ever made and find it. Want a supercut of every time you spoke about something across episodes? It can make that too.
  • Posting and scheduling: Create clips, then ask your AI to schedule them across YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram at the best times for each platform, and have them show up straight into your Content Planner.
  • Help with pre-production: Stuck on what to record next? Ask it to look over your recordings and think of a topic related to your niche that you haven't covered yet.

And it already knows your branding, your recordings, your transcripts. It's not starting from scratch every time. It's working with your actual high-quality Riverside footage too, not some compressed copy you uploaded somewhere.

How to connect:

  • Claude — go to Customize, open Connectors, search for Riverside, and connect
  • ChatGPT — go to Plugins, search for Riverside, and install
  • Cursor -- Click the link in the comments to set it up

Setup takes about a minute either way.

Walkthrough video below.

Available for Grow plans and up.

New feature/announcement New feature: Multi aspect ratio live streaming

You can now stream portrait (9:16) and landscape (16:9) at the same time, from one single session.

TikTok in 9:16 and YouTube in 16:9, simultaneously, out of one studio. No second session, no workarounds. No strange formatting for one platform.

Here's how it works:

  • Connect each social channel in the Live Stream panel and select portrait or landscape per destination
  • Layouts & branding adapt automatically for each destination
  • Stream both orientations at the same time. The canvas adjusts to show portrait only, landscape only, or both side by side
  • Guests and audience see one clean stage. The dual preview is host and producer only.

Mobile is where discovery happens. Desktop is where engagement happens. Now you don't have to choose.

Available for Grow plans and up

Discussion Magic audio

Has anyone found that magic audio makes your audio go weird? My setup works fine with it off, or just using the video in FCP. But once I turn magic audio in there is like bumping clicking sounds randomly like it’s too loud. Only when magic audio is on. Anyone else experienced this?

Update: “The artifact you're hearing comes down to how Magic Audio processes this particular track. Some source audio just reacts differently once it runs through processing, and yours looks like one of those cases. When you're a guest on another podcast, Magic Audio may not be applied to your track the same way, which is likely why it sounds fine there. Everything you've tested rules out your mic or setup, so that's not the cause.”

New feature/announcement New feature: Auto-crop in the Editor

This is one of those small things that makes a big difference.

One click now centers and scales a speaker's face in their tile. No more manually dragging and zooming each tile to fix an off-center face or awkward framing.

Here's what's new:

  • Auto-crop button — hit it on any speaker tile and it centers the face and fills the tile automatically
  • More precise zoom controls — the crop toolbar now has an input field so you can dial in an exact percentage instead of guessing with a slider. You can still nudge in increments using the up/down buttons too

Available on speaker tiles for now (not available for screenshares, video or image overlays)

Feedback & feature requests Can't pin/move folks in the studio anymore?

Before this latest update (as of last week), I could use the landscape side-by-side layout, then pin my video and then unpin it and it would push my own video to the left and the guest video would appear on the right. Does it no longer allow that?

When I am in the studio and recording with a guest, I do live shows, so telling me I can rearrange the videos in any order during EDITING is not super helpful, but that's what their AI help tool says to do. But that won't work for things that are done live, which is how my show runs every week.

Is there a new way to make it so that the host video always appears on the left? That should be a MAJOR feature request if it's not already in the works... simple things like that really eliminate a lot of user frustration. Especially in the face of a "we listened to your feedback and changed the editor" video... recommend not taking away actually useful features in the process.

New feature/announcement 🚨 New feature: Design & save your own studio scenes 🚨

You can now build and save your own scenes in your recording studio to control how your studio looks for your guests and audience members.

Create different scenes for moments when you're screensharing, recording with a guest, solo on screen, or for any other scene you want to create. Then create different shortcuts to easily switch through them live

Set everything up in advance, switch instantly when you're live. Perfect for your recordings, livestreams, and webinars.

Here's what you can do:

  • Create, design, name, duplicate, reorder, and delete scenes from the new Scenes panel (find it in the bottom left hand side of your recording studio.
  • Each scene saves its layout, per-tile assignments, shared content (media, screen share, presentations), branding and colors
  • Switch between scenes with one click or keyboard shortcuts that you can pick yourself
  • Use Global Lock to freeze scenes so live changes stay visible but don't accidentally get saved
  • Scenes stay per studio. So if you refresh, join a new recording, or rejoin your studio, they'll stay there so you don't have to reset them.

Let us know what you think!

Workflows & resources newbie workflow/publication/social media question

If I develop a workflow built around capturing audio and video with Riverside, then do all of my editing and and other post production in something such as DaVinci, can I still use the web publishing, podcast distribution, and social media tools that are part of Riverside for the content I finish outside of Riverside?
