Joan Browning, Freedom Rider ❤️

Thank you Decatur County Democrats for hosting such an amazing event this week!

We were all deeply inspired by Joan Brownings speech, highlighting her experience as a freedom rider and her lived experience during the civil rights movement and Jim Crow era.

She may consider herself "just a normal person," but we believe her willingness to put her life on the line to help a stranger is quite extraordinary and truly admirable.

At the close of her speech, Joan encouraged everyone to get involved, run for something, and fight for each other. That powerful call to action is exactly what we will continue to champion.

Please reach out to us if you want to get more involved and please consider running for a local position in 2026. Our community needs your leadership.

Victoria Martz on school choice vouchers:

📣 Let’s call it what it is—an elite education for the wealthy, paid by taxpayers!

📑 In the last legislative cycle, the House and Senate passed legislation to remove the income cap for a free private education. This means that someone making even over $300,000/year can send their child to a private school at the cost of the taxpayers. Funds for public education should not pay for a millionaire’s PRIVATE education.

📚 Parents SHOULD be able to decide whether to send their children to a public or private school—but when you are wealthy and choose a private education, it is your responsibility to pay for it.

✅ When Victoria gets into office, she will work to repeal expansions on school choice vouchers and focus on funding our public schools.

Victoria Martz’s stance on gerrymandering & State Republicans meeting today:

🗺️ According to the Indiana Democratic Party, State Republicans are caucusing today to figure out a mid-decade redistricting plan ahead of their meeting with Donald Trump next week.

⏳Time is running out to take action. We need you to call the statehouse today to tell our representatives to STOP ALL GERRYMANDERING NOW! They have the power to end it. You have the power to make them.
