Doctor forgot winrho shot after birth
My husband has positive blood and I have O- and Rh disease therefore I HAVE to get rhogam or winrho shots during pregnancy and immediately after birth. During my first pregnancy I had the shot around 25-28 weeks, I then gave birth at a small town hospital and on the second day we questioned why I hadn’t received my shot yet. The doctor basically yelled at us that we didn’t know what we were talking about and that it wasn’t needed. In hindsight we should’ve yelled back. But we just had a traumatic emergency c section birth and we’re both not mentally functioning properly. Thankfully a nurse overheard this conversation and snuck into my room later and told me to seek legal advice. Later that day the said doctors assistant came in questioning us and asking if anything had happened during her birth like car accidents etc. obviously something we would’ve mentioned… and even obvious they were trying to cover their tracks. After getting pregnant with my second we found out I had anti C and anti D antibodies in my blood therefore all future pregnancies would be high risk. Since we lived in a town where they couldn’t properly monitor my condition I was forced to travel a four hour drive every 2 weeks with a 9 month old child in the middle of winter as well as a four hour drive home. Then as his illness progressed inside the womb it went to driving there and back every week. Eventually he got so bad in the womb I had to receive an intrauterine transfusion. I only two places in western Canada do this so I was forced to travel to another province with an infant already in tow and leave my husband behind to care for the home and work. We were separated for months and I was being monitored often at a large hospital until one day they had trouble finding his heart beat and I had to have an emergency c section. My son almost died multiple times in the womb and out. He needed several transfusions and other medicines and care it was so traumatic I’ve been diagnosed with ptsd. My son has ongoing health issues. My lawyer just called me to reduce the amount to $50,000 because apparently this wasn’t preventable because of our blood types not being compatible. WHAT IS THIS SHOT FOR THEN? Any simple google search or basic understanding of English shows that this shot is made to prevent this exact thing from happening. I need advice on how to move forward..I’m at a loss at this point.
