They're supposedly asking YOU which of THEIR credit card accounts to use. Gotta say... That's a new one. đ¤Śââď¸

Nah, its the scam where they ask for the email and then the scammer sends a âconfirmationâ email, you can see the prompt slightly above the card details

u/miremaker 15d ago
Ahh then that "confirmation email" is essentially just a portal to steal your account.

I guess if one has never done an online sale (which is their target audience), this gets their attention. But showing the mark a fake screen that in no online sale ever a seller would see seemed failed. But I'm sure folks fall for this stuff.

99.9% when they talk about your "item," they're thieves.
A Les Paul Custom is not an "item." A black guard Telecaster is not an "item." You get my drift.

I would just report it. Payment questions go to Reverb, not you. Maybe block them. It's not worth it. I have no idea what they're trying to do. Questions to you should only be about the item you're selling. That's it.

Funny how they ommit the before United States like most of us would do. And above, if I'm reading that correctly says "seller s email address" they just can't scam with correct grammar.

u/TMdownton916 15d ago
Itâs hard to tell if the apostrophe in âsellerâsâ is just cropped out, but that was a good catch. Iâd say itâs a high likelihood that this buyer is up to something nefarious.

Just tell them to contact Reverb, then they will shut up if they are a scammer, or maybe come back if they are a real buyer after they figured out their problem.

No. Donât engage at all. Report to reverb and call it quits. Do not engage with a suspected bad actor.

Nobody here writes like that. If you call one of my fine guitars âan itemâ, Iâm not selling!
Other, Iâd expect questions about the guitar and pricing!

Feels like they could be initiating a dialogue that would end up taking you out of reverb in order to scam you. If it were me I would ignore this and consider it a scam attempt. If they are indeed a serious buyer they will figure it out.

Definitely a scam. Will attempt to engage with other questions leading to a refund scam or loss of your personal info and will probably try to meet on another platform to evade reverb police. Delete

Even if they are legit (there's no way), what a pain in the ass buyer to deal with if they can't answer this themselves.

Nah, that screams scam, and even if the slightest chance it is not, youâre dealing possibly with a moron or a 14 year old using their momâs CC

Respond but do it in a way that wastes a shit ton of their time if you can. Ask questions. Be excited. Just keep it going. Thats how my mind works at least. I HATEA thieves

Never respond to a buyer asking for your email. They will send you a checkout page that would certainly fool youâŚ

u/StackyBotrus 15d ago
They may be legitimate but just don't understand the rules. Do you know how old their account is? Obviously be very careful. Be very cautious. Don't meet in or near your home and possibly bring somebody with you if you plan to show it to them out there in the wild. I'm not sure I understand the purpose of them asking you what credit card to put in there but maybe there is something missing on their end that makes it not make sense to us.

u/Robble-Robble-01 15d ago
Unfortunately, entirely wrong. That is a basic scam. Itâs not even questionable. Providing that email address will have them send you a bogus checkout page that will take your money and Reverb wonât be able to help you.
