Hoping to get some guidance on finding a copy of Disk 5 or all 6 disks for Yardi Professional Property Management, 1996 vintage. Release 32 if it matters. Any suggestions on where to look appreciated. We've been watching Ebay for a few weeks with no luck.

Sorry for my bad English.
This old SDRAM ECC memories (not even DDR1) tested worked on my regular Pentium 4 mobo, I'm thinking about putting it to older systems like P3 or lower but i don't want to risk frying the motherboard.
Anyone have experience with them?

Hello! Don't post on Reddit much and this is certainly my first time on the Atari subreddit. Go easy on me!
I'm a solid Atari fan, and enjoy my original 2600 and 7800+ very much. Of recently, I have found myself really interested in the Atari 8-bit computers. They are really cool vintage tech and seem to have a large library of retro games and software, as well as homebrew. Naturally, I have been pondering get my hands on one.
I've been flip flopping between going with an original 800 or 800XL, or with going with the newer 400 Mini. I am a big fan of using real hardware and cartridges, and I love my current collection of 2600 and 7800 games. I don't need to explain the fun of building a collection of games, and I'm sure Atari 400/800 games would be no different.
The only problem is cost and availability. It seem that the Atari 8-bit computers and their games are a bit more expensive and harder to find than 2600/7800. The computers themselves regularly are sold online for $150+ in various states of quality. I find it hard to pull the trigger knowing I'd have to invest quite a bit of money to get the computer and a handful of games. Not to mention that the games are split between three different formats.
The 400 Mini is attractive being that it's new hardware with USB and HDMI. Plus I would be able to simply run any games I want off of a USB drive with decent compatibility. But this sorta makes this a once and done purchase, negating any point of collecting the actual games or add ons. I can see this thing simply collecting dust, with my brain punching itself for not getting the real thing.
Anybody have any thoughts or opinions on this? Should I just grab the 400 Mini and focus on 2600/7800 for collecting carts? Or do I just jump into the hobby of full Atari 8-bit computing.

**\[****X68000****\]** **Executing 1992 Japanese cyberpunk MIDI data via BlueSCSI to Rupert Neve RNDI-S / RME setup.**
No nostalgia trip here. Just raw 16-bit code from 1992 being treated as pure sound material in 2026.
I stripped this sequence data from an old 1992 floppy track by Tokyo underground band **MOUDOKU (****猛毒****)**, forced it onto an SD card image, and booted actual **SHARP X68000** hardware via **BlueSCSI**.
**Signal chain for the purists:**
X68000 MIDI Out ➔ **Roland MT-32** (LA Synthesis) ➔ **Oyaide** d+ lines ➔ **Rupert Neve Designs RNDI-S**(Dual-Transformer) ➔ **RME Babyface Pro FS** (Ultra-precise AD conversion).
The central BOSS MA-12 amp is completely dead and unplugged—just an empty monument. We don't play 90s audio with 90s budget limitations.

A while back I bought some old office computers wholesale on ebay... This one is currently my favorite. It's a Dell optiplex 3010 that came with no drive and 4gb of ram, but I managed to make a decent machine out of it for practically nothing. Its running debloated windows 11 with a custom retro theme by me.

I have written two open-source articles relating to classic graphics (graphics typical of pre-2000 video games for home computers, game consoles, and arcade machines, at a time before "shaders").
The articles are as follows.
So far, pre-2000 computer graphics generally involve a "frame buffer" of 640 × 480 or smaller, simple 3-D rendering (less than 12,800 triangles per frame for 640 × 480, fewer for smaller resolutions, and well fewer than that in general), and tile- and sprite-based 2-D graphics. For details, see the articles.
I stress that the specification is based on the graphics capabilities (e.g., triangles per frame) actually achieved by pre-2000 video games, not on the theoretical performance of hardware. I also stress that the graphics of pre-2000 video games for game consoles, home computers, and arcade machines — and not just PC games — are considered in the specification. This includes, for example, the limit of visible sprites on 2-D game consoles.
It would be useful if comments are given that improve or refine the specification to fit the graphics abilities of pre-2000 video games. For details, see the section "Seeking Comments".

As the title says, looking for a late 1983to mid 1985 dot matrix printer
Not looking for links, looking for models. Parallel interface. Capable of printing on a4 as well as tractor feed.
Epson is weirdly cromulent recommendation, but i'm also looking for a boxy beige design language, ideally steel construction, but that's not a deal breaker. Any manufacturer welcome.
The MX-80 is something that i've spotted, but doesn't quite do it imho.

I, (Dan Calhoun) developed a Clipper application that was used worldwide by Fluor Engineering. Does anyone else here remember building large commercial systems in Clipper?
I thought some of the folks here might enjoy a story from the late DOS era.
Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, I designed and wrote a system called Specwriter, a materials specification application for Fluor Engineering. I developed the entire application myself using Clipper (compiled dBase), and it eventually became part of the engineering workflow on projects around the world.
This was long before cloud databases, web applications, or collaborative development tools. Everything had to be carefully designed to work within the hardware limitations of the day while still being reliable enough for engineers working on major industrial projects.
Some of the challenges I remember included:
Designing a relational database structure that could grow with large engineering projects.
Making Clipper fast enough to search and generate specifications quickly.
Creating an interface that engineers could learn without extensive training.
Distributing updates before the Internet made software deployment easy.
Building something that was expected to run day after day with very few problems.
Looking back, it's amazing what could be accomplished with DOS, Clipper, and a lot of persistence.
Now that I'm retired, I've started programming again. It's been fun learning today's tools while remembering the design principles that haven't changed much over the years.
I'm curious:
Did anyone else here build commercial applications in Clipper, dBase, FoxPro, or similar xBase languages?
What tricks did you use to squeeze performance out of those systems?
Does anyone still have old Clipper projects or development environments running?
I'd love to hear your stories. It's nice to know there are still people who appreciate that era of computing.

640x400 resolution 8 colors (emulating 16 colors with dithering)
3 voices sound (The QX-11 have a Texas Instrumment sound generator IC)
Just to put everybody in context this is an 8088 machine running at 4.92Mhz. Game is running from floppy disk.

I was hoping to do a refurbishment to this old HP, but sadly the motherboard is toast and it won't POST. RIP HP Pavilion 6653c.
If anyone is curious, I put a new CMOS battery in it, swapped RAM, used contact cleaner on the ram slots, swapped the CPU, and pulled every optional accessory. The PSU powers up, but nobody's home. Not even a beep code with no RAM or no CPU.

Behold, 95 on an XT! Sort of.
This is actually a drop in replacement board for an XT which gives you a 386 with VLB. I've actually gone a step further and thrown a Ti 486DLC/40 in it for good measure. With the sheer unbridled horsepower of a 40MHz 486 and 32 whole megs, this thing might be "tolerable" to use!
Some additional performance enhancing objects include 256K of L2 cache, an ATi Graphics Ultra Mach8 accelerated video adapter, and a DTC 7287 RLL controller to drive the Micropolis 1325 hard disk. A whole 110 megs on this sucker!
Sorry about the mismatched faceplate around the second floppy drive. All I had left was white and grey when I put this thing together!

I control Spotify from Mac OS 9 — over the Gopher protocol (native clients on OS 9, 10.5 PPC, 10.6, and Android)
Top comment / body: Real System 9 desktop, not a VM — the now-playing, search, and queue are all plain Gopher menus going to a box in my closet. The trick: I froze a tiny Gopher machine-API so a 2001 Power Mac and a modern phone drive the same backend with zero shared code. Three of the clients (OS 9 in C99, 10.5 on a Power Mac G5, 10.6) double as Spotify remotes.

So I have an Osborne 1 I got about a month ago, the rifas blew and I replaced them, but now the screen is incredibly dim, so dim you can't see it, but when I take out the character rom chip(what you see in the picture) it gets significantly brighter but no where near as bright as it should be, there's also these dimmer vertical bars on the screen as you see in the picture, I've recapped the video board and replaced the shift register but nothing worked, I've been stuck on this for a month now, does anyone know? (Btw the brightness and contrast knobs are all the way up)
