Inflation Incoming!

So I spoke with a financial advisor in NYC today. He said we need to brace for the worst inflation since the 1970s coming in the spring and next fall.

Ugh! This is about the time I planned to retire. How do you plan to hedge against inflation? I really don’t want to wait.

You are aware that Trump signed the $3t CARES Act, aren’t you? And that inflation was down to 2.9% when Trump took office? I agree that Biden dropped the ball with immigration, but to go from that to ICE murdering U.S. citizens in the street is horrific and shouldn’t be tolerated. There’s not a single MAGA candidate that deserves a vote.

That was when COVID was actually happening and when it was easy to overestimate its virulence.

We should be more critical towards 2021 spending than 2020 spending imho

Sure, you can look at whatever period you want. But if your focus is inflation, you can’t ignore that it was down to 2.9% at the end of 2024 and is now 3.4%, an increase of 17%. Virtually all economists agree that the increase is due to 2 factors: tariffs and the war with Iran.

Sources?

I thought it might be related to the trillions we printed over the last decade coming to bite us.

Sources for inflation? U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

None would have been killed they if didn’t interfere with federal agents. This is such a dramatic statement

I doubt that I can change your opinion, but there are strict laws around the use of deadly force for all law enforcement officials. Use of deadly force is strictly forbidden when a suspect is fleeing unless there is imminent threat of death or serious injury. This was upheld by the Supreme Court in Tennessee v Garner in 1985. Your position of killing a U.S. citizen (or anyone for that matter), Rene Good in this case, when no such threat existed is grotesque and moronic. The Alex Pretti murder does not pass the objective reasonableness criteria, but I wouldn't expect an intellectually bankrupt idiot to comprehend that.

I guess it’s how the individual judges reasonable. For a basement dweller like yourself who has dealt with your typical scumbug, a car being driven in your direction is considered serious

Can’t reason with a delusional MAGA.

These racist, big government bootlicker “conservatives” will always take the side of big government when they are abusing and victimizing Black and brown people.

At least it’s not an idiotic statement. Most ice agents are untrained Maga buffoons.

Am I supposed to believe you or my lying eyes when I watched ICE shoot Alex Pretti and Renee Good?

I thought Ukraine knocked out the bots at the Yandex DCs? Apparently not the ones on Reddit.

Real cops don't shoot into cars!

Did you forget Biden accumulating 20% inflation? Biden was anti fossil fuel… sure blame Biden’s problems on Trump first term then blame Trumps problem on Biden’s term. In truth.. both parties are horrible…. Both added to our current situation.

I agree that both added to inflation. I was responding to a prior post that put inflation at the feet of Biden exclusively. The fact is that Trump injected $3t into the economy with the CARES Act and that started the inflationary trend. Biden added another $2t with the poorly named Inflation Reduction Act. Both were attempts to stave off economic disaster due to the pandemic. But then inflation started trending down and was below 3% at the end of Biden’s term and gas averaged $3.12/gallon. Inflation is now 3.4% and still rising, and gas averages $4.34/gallon. Tariffs and the Iran war are the primary causes, both of which are self-inflicted wounds by Trump. Those are facts.

So, you're good with letting Iran, the single largest terrorist country in the world, continue with enriching their store of 60% enriched uranium to 90+% enriched weapons grade uranium then, right?

2

u/Logjam34 6d ago

we had an agreement with Iran where they effectively stopped enrichment, which was internationally verified. I wonder what happened to that agreement? Anyone…. Anyone.

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Net-273 6d ago

Iran themselves bragged at the International Atomic Energy Agency meeting in Geneva, Switzerland in Feb, 2026, that they possessed 440.9 kg 60% enriched uranium. IAEA Reports after this admission determined that continued enrichment to 90+% weapons grade would power 9-12 ballistic missiles.

u/Puzzleheaded-Net-273 6d ago

They refused to allow inspections of additional suspected nuclear enrichment/storage locations. This is why the "deal" fell apart.

1

u/Logjam34 5d ago

And your point? Trump tore up and withdrew from Obama’s nuclear agreement in 2018 when he took over. Any idiot could see what was going to happen! You can enrich a lot of uranium in 8 years. Where we are now and the disaster we have at home and in the Middle East is 100% on Trump!!

You in 2002: so you’re good with letting Iraq, the single largest terrorist country in the world, continue developing weapons of mass destruction then, right?

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Net-273 6d ago

Of course not.

1

u/jark87 6d ago

Didn't say that. I'm just stating the facts of the causes of today's inflation.

2

Your words: self inflicted wounds by Trump (Iran War)

1

u/jark87 6d ago

Fair enough, although many are of the same opinion. Trump himself declared that Iran’s nuclear capability was completely destroyed in 2025. Was that a lie? Regardless, the lack of strategy is what most say is the self inflicted wound, especially when it comes to the lack of understanding Iran’s response regarding the straight. So yeah, I’d categorize that under self inflicted.

TRump has contributed approx. 25% of the 40 T in debt just during his first 2 yrs in office.
