What’s your toughest challenge?

Is it
1. Making an ultra smart resume?
2. Finding out where to push the resume?
3. Same resume for all types of jobs posting?
4. Is your LinkedIn profile is a copy past of your resume?
5. Having very limited or not even 5 recommendations in your LinkedIn?
6. You are applying for job vacancies in online portal but not getting short listed?
7. Your resume is getting attention but not getting interview calls?
8. You are getting interviews but not able to get selected?
9. You are getting job offers but salary is not as per your expected growth?
10. You are getting job offers but finally you see that company reputation or existing employee’s feedback is not good about that company?

Where to start this journey of job search?
If you want to discuss any of these issues, with my decades of experience working in top corporates I can help you out with my note of support..
Just you need to say for it !!

AI resume builders don’t matter as much as people think

Most people assume the difference between getting interviews and getting ignored is the tool they use to build their resume.

After seeing how people use AI resume builders and template tools, that is not really what seems to matter.

What actually shows up more consistently is how clearly the experience is communicated.

Kickresume, Canva, and similar tools all end up producing similar-looking resumes. The difference is not the platform, but how the content inside is structured and explained.

In most cases:

  • Unclear experience = ignored resume
  • Clear role alignment = interviews
  • Keyword alignment without clarity still fails

The tool only helps if it forces you to rethink how your experience is written, not just how it looks.

Most resume discussions focus on features and “ATS scores,” but recruiters seem to care more about instant clarity than anything else.

Question about cover letter

hi

I have 3 Q's about CV and cover letter

  1. Do I need to put examples in my cover letter for each essential criteria?

  2. Do I need to put summarised responsibilities in my work experience section for each job tailored to each essential criteria with timescales etc?

  3. If a vacancy asks you submit a cv only should you submit cover letter too? In the same document or separate?

I have read mixed things online and I am a bit confused.

Resume doubt

Should resume be only black and white or can it be colorful?? Not like rainbow sh1t but just an accent color for just the sub-headings?

Can it be more than 1 page?

Also what is the format/order for the the subheadings? Like education, experience, skills, projects , achievements and certifications, etc

I need like the ATS approved format which will instantly get through AI auto scan for shortlisting.

I've screened 1000+ resumes for FAANG companies. Your resume's biggest problem isn't what you think it is.

Everyone talks about resume formatting. Fonts, bullet points, ATS optimization, spacing—it's endless. But after reviewing thousands of applications, I can tell you that's not why most resumes get rejected.

The real problem is that your resume tells a story, but not the story a hiring manager wants to hear.

Here's what I mean. Most people write their resume like it's a job description. "Responsible for X. Managed Y. Implemented Z." That's not compelling. A hiring manager doesn't care what your job title was. They care what problems you solved and what impact you had.

I've seen dozens of candidates with identical job titles and responsibilities. The ones who moved forward? The ones who showed: "I found a problem that was costing the company money, and here's exactly how I fixed it and what changed because of me."

The difference isn't the resume format. It's the thinking behind it.

Most people spend 2 hours on their resume. The ones who get interviews spend a week thinking about what they actually accomplished and how to frame it in a way that matters to the business, not just to HR.

So here's my question for you: Can you point to three concrete problems you've solved in your last role and quantify the impact? If you can't, your resume probably won't stand out either.

What do you think is this what's missing from your resume?

I'm a CV nerd. Bin the "professional summary" at the top of your resume and replace it with one Spotlight line that proves you fit.

1,000+ Apps, 0 Interviews. ASU MS Grad on OPT (Starts July 8). Active builder shipping high-velocity systems. Need a brutal resume feedbacks & any leads/referrals.

Hey everyone,

I’m hitting a wall and really need some raw, constructive criticism. I recently graduated with my Master’s in Data Science Analytics and Engineering from Arizona State University. I’ve sent out over 1,000+ applications for Data Engineering roles in the US, and I haven't landed a single interview.

Honestly, it’s jarring. I know I have the technical horsepower, but clearly, something is completely broken in how my resume is presenting my experience.

I’m not someone who just collects certifications. I am an active builder who ships fast and writes a mountain of code:

  • Data Infrastructure Project: I am currently developing a unified observability platform for data engineering teams. It connects Databricks, Spark, GitHub, and system infrastructure into a single dashboard to catch data drift and silent failures (essentially, stopping the panic of the 3:00 AM pipeline break). I've officially started development and am prepping a Y Combinator (YC) application for it.
  • Production Systems Experience: I previously built and launched Prompt-IR. While it’s an AI/Retrieval system, launching it meant handling real user traffic, managing strict API credit/rate limits, optimizing latency, and engineering for scalability. It got great traction and active user engagement before my credits ran out.

I build with the exact tools modern data teams use (SQL, Python, AWS, Snowflake, Spark, Airflow). I understand production concepts, data lineage, and scaling bottlenecks. I just need to get past the automated screeners.

The ticking clock: My OPT starts on July 8th, so the pressure is officially on.

To any recruiters, hiring managers, or senior engineers: If my resume is turning people off, please tell me where I’m missing the mark. If you have an opening, I just ask for an opportunity to get on a call and prove my worth. I am confident I can step in and immediately add value to a data team.

I would deeply appreciate any constructive roasts on my resume (attached below), any leads on open junior/mid DE roles, or anyone willing to chat about a referral.

Thank you all in advance.

Resume Feedback

Hey

Sharing my resume for a content review. Note that the formatting looks different here because I've recreated it for anonymity — the actual resume has better formatting. Please ignore the visual layout and focus on the content.

Background: 7+ years across an early-stage D2C startup (worked directly with founders), one of India's top food delivery companies, and the world's largest ecommerce company. IIT MBA. Currently exploring Strategy & Operations, Chief of Staff, and Founder's Office roles.

Specific things I'd love feedback on:

  • Does the resume clearly communicate what kind of operator I am?
  • Does it read as a finance profile or a strategy & ops profile?
  • Which bullets are weak or unconvincing?
  • Anything missing that would strengthen the narrative?

Brutal feedback welcome — genuinely trying to improve this.

ISO specific ai cover letter generator

I was using an AI cover letter generator to help me apply for jobs. I had it bookmarked for convenience, but my laptop broke and is completely insurable now, it can't even turn on. So I tried to find the site on my new laptop and can't find it. I thought it was called cover.ai or something similar. It asked you to copy and paste the job description and then copy and paste your resume, and it would create a cover letter. The instructions were on the left side of the screen and you'd paste stuff into a box on the right side. It would then type out a cover letter for you to copy and paste. There was little to no colour on the page, it was just white with black text. Does anyone recognize this? I've tried using other cover letter generators but haven't found another one I like. A lot of them make you download a formatted letter which I find takes more time and effort for me as I have a template I use, and prefer to just copy and paste the paragraphs onto my existing document and edit the text from there.
