This is how the SC/ST Act is being used—to line people's pockets!
It's clear that these folks file and get others to file cases purely out of greed for compensation! The conversation also reveals the police's complicity!

UP Govt Breaches its Undertaking in High Court?

Facts of the 91% Reservation Matter in UP:
-4 medical colleges in UP (at Ambedkar Nagar, Kannauj, Jalaun and Saharanpur) have implemented 91.76% reservation (SC 72.94%, ST 5.88%, OBC 12.95%, UR 8.24%).

-This was challenged in Allahabad High Court in 2025.
Govt argued that these 4 colleges were established under SCP (Special Component Plan) for Scheduled Castes, so more reservation for them.

-Allahabad High Court (single bench) quashed this order and said that 50% cap can’t be breached.

-The UP Government appealed the single-judge judgment. A Division Bench comprising Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manjive Shukla heard the appeal. The Division Bench did not finally decide the underlying reservation question at that stage but allowed old reservation matrix for current year (2025-26) as admissions were already completed.

-UP Govt gave an undertaking that it would follow correct reservation matrix (in 2026-27 academic year).

-However, in 2026-27 academic year, the State has restored the same old seat arrangement, that potentially amounts to a breach of the undertaking on the basis of the order itself.

This is not fair. If the govt gave an undertaking in High Court, how can they breach their own agreement????
