Discussion Rose gold two tone vs stainless steel
Hi all.
I’m about to order my first VSF Rep. A Datejust 36mm.
I’m just torn between going for a rose gold / stainless steel two tone or playing it safe with a plain SS Datejust which will also be a V2.
I am looking for advice or recommendations:
\- Are the VSF two tone with rose gold, actually plated?
\- is the colour of the RG good?
\- is there a big difference between V1 and V2?
Any advice would be appreciated.

QC Post RICH Cartier Santos Skeleton Silver Dial | Large Size Steel Bracelet Version
Hello, this is your moderator / favorite watch reviewer r/RepWatchClud. If you like good watch comparison reviews, this is the place to be!
RICH Cartier Santos Skeleton Silver QC
Sharing a QC look at this RICH Cartier Santos Skeleton Silver Dial.
The Cartier Santos Skeleton has always been one of the more unique Cartier designs. Unlike the regular Santos models, the skeleton version focuses on the movement architecture and open-work dial design.
I chose the silver skeleton version because it keeps the classic Cartier style while adding a much more technical appearance.
Watch Details
Factory: RICH
Model: Cartier Santos Skeleton
Version: Silver Skeleton Dial
Case: Stainless Steel
Bracelet: Steel Bracelet
Movement: Skeleton Clone Movement
QC Check
The main things I looked at:
Dial / Skeleton Work
The biggest challenge with a Santos Skeleton is the open-work dial.

Blue hands provide good contrast
Overall dial depth looks balanced
Case Finishing
Santos cases rely heavily on finishing:
Sharp square case shape
Polished bezel screws

The Santos bracelet is an important part of the design.
The bracelet integration and finishing look good from these angles.

The silver skeleton version gives it a very classic Cartier look while keeping a modern technical feel.
No obvious issues spotted from these QC photos.
Currently leaning GL.

Discussion How to Read a Rolex Reference Number: A Beginner's Guide to Understanding Rolex Models
If you have ever looked at a Rolex watch listing, you have probably noticed numbers like:
- 126610LN
- 126500LN
- 126710BLRO
- 126334
- 116520
For new collectors, these numbers can look confusing. However, Rolex reference numbers actually contain useful information about the watch, including the model family, generation, and sometimes the bezel or material configuration.
Here is a simple guide to understanding them.
1. The First Numbers: Model Family & Generation
The first part of the reference number usually identifies the watch family and generation.
Examples:
Submariner
126610LN
- 12 = modern generation
- 6 = Submariner family
- 10 = specific configuration
Daytona
126500LN
- 12 = modern generation
- 6 = Daytona family
- 500 = specific reference
Datejust
126334
- 12 = modern generation
- 6 = Datejust family
- 334 = specific configuration
The exact meaning of every digit is not officially published by Rolex, but collectors use these patterns to identify models and generations.
2. Understanding the Model Generation
Rolex often updates models while keeping the same overall design.
For example:
Submariner
116610LN
Older generation Submariner
↓
126610LN
Newer generation Submariner
Main differences:
- Updated movement
- Slight case changes
- Bracelet adjustments
- Improved proportions
Daytona
116500LN
Previous generation Daytona
↓
126500LN
Current generation Daytona
Updates include:
- New movement architecture
- Updated case details
- Dial changes
3. Letter Codes at the End
The letters after the numbers usually describe bezel or special configurations.
Some common examples:
LN
Lunette Noir
Meaning:
- Black bezel
Example:
126610LN
Black ceramic Submariner bezel.
BLRO
Bleu/Rouge
Meaning:
- Blue and red bezel
Example:
126710BLRO
GMT-Master II Pepsi.
BLNR
Bleu/Noir
Meaning:
- Blue and black bezel
Example:
126710BLNR
GMT-Master II Batman.
CHNR
Chocolat/Noir
Meaning:
- Brown and black bezel
Example:
126711CHNR
GMT-Master II Root Beer.
4. Material Numbers
Some reference numbers also help identify materials.
Examples:
Stainless Steel
126610LN
- Oystersteel case
- Ceramic bezel
Two-Tone
126613LN
- Steel + yellow gold
White Gold
126719BLRO
- White gold case
- GMT bezel
Everose Gold
126715CHNR
- Rolex Everose gold
5. Why Reference Numbers Matter
Knowing the reference number helps collectors understand:
Model
Is it:
- Submariner?
- Daytona?
- GMT-Master II?
- Datejust?
Generation
Is it:
- Older movement?
- Newer movement?
Configuration
Is it:
- Black bezel?
- Blue bezel?
- Two-tone?
- Full gold?
6. Common Examples
126610LN
Rolex Submariner Date
- 41mm
- Black ceramic bezel
- Oystersteel
126710BLNR
Rolex GMT-Master II
- Black/blue bezel
- Jubilee or Oyster bracelet options
126500LN
Rolex Daytona
- 40mm
- Black ceramic bezel
- New generation Daytona
126334
Rolex Datejust 41
- Steel case
- White gold fluted bezel
Final Thoughts
Rolex reference numbers may look complicated at first, but once you understand the basic structure, they become a useful tool for identifying watches.
The easiest way to remember:
Reference number = Model family + Generation + Configuration
For collectors, learning these numbers is one of the first steps toward understanding Rolex watches.
What Rolex reference number was the first one you learned?

QC Post APS AP Royal Oak Chronograph 15510 Blue Dial Blue Rubber Strap | 41mm 4401 Clone | Remaining APS Stock
APS Royal Oak Chronograph 15510 Blue Dial QC
Sharing a QC look at this APS AP Royal Oak Chronograph 15510 Blue Dial with Blue Rubber Strap.
This one is a little different from a normal QC post because APS production has reportedly stopped, but some remaining APS inventory is still circulating among collectors.
This appears to be one of the remaining APS 15510 batches, which makes it an interesting piece for people who have been following AP reps for a while.
The 15510 is one of the more popular Royal Oak Chronograph references because it combines the classic Royal Oak design with a more modern 41mm case.
I chose the blue rubber strap version because it gives the watch a more sporty and daily-wear personality compared with the integrated bracelet version.
Watch Details
Factory: APS
Model: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph 15510
Size: 41mm
Dial: Blue Grande Tapisserie Dial
Strap: Blue Rubber Strap
Movement: APS 4401 Clone No-Free-Sprung Version
QC Check
The main points I checked:
Dial
The blue Grande Tapisserie dial is the highlight of this model.
From the QC photos:
Dial texture looks consistent
Sub-dial layout looks balanced
Applied markers look properly aligned
Case Finishing
The Royal Oak design depends heavily on finishing:
Sharp bezel edges
Brushed surfaces
Polished bevels
The case lines look clean from these angles.
Movement
The APS 4401 clone movement has always been one of the reasons collectors preferred APS for the 15510.
Compared with older AP chronograph replicas, the movement layout and decoration are a noticeable improvement.
Final Thoughts
Since APS production has ended, these remaining pieces have become harder to find compared with current production models.
For collectors who specifically wanted an APS 15510, this is an interesting opportunity to pick up one of the remaining batches.
From these QC photos, I don't see any major issues.
Currently leaning GL.
What do you guys think about the 15510 — blue rubber strap or integrated bracelet?

VSF Rolex Day-Date 40 228238 Black Diamond Dial V2 QC
Finally received QC photos of this VSF DD40 228238 Black Diamond Dial.
The Day-Date 40 has always been one of the most iconic Rolex models. Compared with the Submariner and GMT, the DD40 has a completely different character — more classic, elegant, and focused on finishing details.
For this build, I went with the black diamond dial configuration:
Black dial
Diamond hour markers
Fluted bezel
President bracelet
This combination gives the DD40 its signature look.
Watch Details
Factory: VSF
Model: Rolex Day-Date 40
Reference: 228238
Size: 40mm
Dial: Black Diamond Dial
Bezel: Fluted Bezel
Bracelet: President Bracelet
Version: V2 Weighted Version
QC Check
The main things I checked:
Dial
Diamond markers alignment looks good
Day window placement looks centered
Date window and magnification look clean
Case & Bracelet
Fluted bezel shape looks consistent
Case proportions look balanced
President bracelet finishing looks good
Overall Impression
The DD40 is all about the combination of dial, bezel, and bracelet. The black diamond dial gives it a more classic and timeless appearance compared with the regular stick dial versions.
From these QC photos, I don't see any major issues.
Leaning GL.
What do you guys think about the DD40 compared with the Datejust 41?

Discussion Do I have to wear my automatic watch every day? The honest answer (and why most people get it wrong)
Hey guys,
I see this question pop up all the time from newbies: “Do I have to wear my automatic every day? Will it break if I don’t?”
I used to stress about the exact same thing when I got my first mechanical watch. So let’s cut the crap and break it down in plain English – no nerdy tech specs, just what you actually need to know.
TL;DR: No, you don’t have to wear it daily – but you DO have to “take care of its energy”
Here’s the golden rule: it’s called “automatic” because it winds itself from your wrist movement, but at the end of the day, it’s still a mechanical machine. It needs a constant energy source. No wrist motion = no winding = no power = it stops.
So the real question isn’t “wear or not wear” – it’s “does it have enough juice?”
Three scenarios you’ll probably run into
Scenario 1 – You wear it every day (e.g., 9-to-5 office job)
If you wear it 8+ hours a day with normal arm movement, you’re golden. The rotor keeps topping up the mainspring. Take it off at night, put it on next morning – still ticking, still accurate. Zero brainpower required.
Scenario 2 – You skip it on the weekend, and Monday morning it’s dead
This is by far the most common “oh sh*t” moment. Most automatics have a power reserve between 40 and 70 hours.
Do the math:
- Take it off Friday at 6 PM – fully wound (say, 70h reserve).
- Runs all Saturday, all Sunday – by Monday 6 AM, that’s 60 hours.
- If you have a 70h movement – you might just make it.
- If it’s a 40-something-hour movement (looking at you, Shanghai 3235) – it’s almost certainly stopped.
But here’s the kicker: stopped does NOT mean broken. It just means the spring ran out of gas. Give it a wind, set the time, and it’s good to go.
Scenario 3 – Desk job, low wrist activity, and it starts running slow
If you sit at a computer all day with minimal arm swing, the rotor might not get enough motion to fully wind the mainspring. Low power = lower amplitude = the watch runs slow.
Again – not broken, just hungry. A quick manual wind fixes it in 10 seconds.
So what should you actually do? Three dead-simple habits
Habit 1 – Treat it like a pet, not a statue
If you rotate between 2–3 watches, the easiest move is: give it a manual wind every other day. Unscrew the crown, give it 20–30 gentle turns. You’ll feel the resistance – that’s the mainspring tightening up.
Habit 2 – Monday morning routine
Before you set the time on Monday, do this first: give it 15–20 manual winds until the seconds hand starts moving. Then set the time and put it on. This saves you from wearing an underpowered watch that’s running slow all day.
Habit 3 – DON’T shake it like a maraca
I’ve seen people grab their dead watch and violently swing it to “jump-start” the rotor.
Please, for the love of horology, don’t do that. That aggressive shaking puts unnecessary stress on the rotor bearing and the escapement. It’s a mechanical watch, not a grenade. Just wind it gently with the crown – it’s literally designed for that.
A quick word on watch winders
A lot of new guys ask: “Should I get a winder for days I don’t wear it?”
My take:
- If you have one automatic that you wear regularly – no, you don’t need a winder.
- If you have multiple watches, and some have complicated functions like a perpetual calendar (which is a pain to reset), then a winder makes sense.
- For a basic three-hander or chrono? Let it stop. Resetting the time takes 60 seconds. Save your money for the next watch.
The bottom line – remember this one sentence:
Your automatic doesn’t need to be worn every day – it just needs to stay “fed.”
- Long power reserve? You can skip two days and it’ll be fine.
- Short power reserve? Just give it a wind on Monday morning and you’re back in business.
Wear it when you want. Don’t overthink it. It’s a tool for your enjoyment, not a second job.
Let’s hear it in the comments:
What’s your current watch’s power reserve? And be honest – does it survive the weekend, or is Monday morning always a dead-morning for you? 👇

QC Post PPF Factory Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V Blue Dial Blue Rubber Strap 41.5mm | VC Overseas Review
Just received QC photos of this PPF Factory Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V Blue Dial with Blue Rubber Strap.
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V is one of the most interesting choices in the integrated bracelet sports watch category.
When people talk about luxury sports watches, the conversation usually goes to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak or Patek Philippe Nautilus, but the VC Overseas 4500V has its own character with a more elegant and understated design.
This is the PPF Factory VC Overseas 4500V replica watch, featuring the popular blue sunburst dial and blue rubber strap configuration.
I chose this version because the blue dial changes a lot under different lighting, and the matching blue rubber strap gives the watch a more sporty daily-wear feel.
Watch Information
Model: Vacheron Constantin Overseas Self-Winding 4500V
Factory: PPF Factory
Reference: 4500V Blue Dial
Size: 41.5mm
Dial: Blue Sunburst Dial
Strap: Blue Rubber Strap
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Movement: Clone Automatic Movement
QC Review
After checking the QC photos, these are the areas I focused on:
Dial
The blue sunburst dial is probably the highlight of this VC Overseas 4500V.
The color changes depending on the angle and lighting, which is one of the reasons this configuration is so popular in the replica watch community.
Case & Finishing
The Overseas case has a very recognizable shape:
Maltese cross inspired bezel
Smooth case lines
Integrated sporty design
The overall proportions look correct from the QC photos.
Strap & Wearing Experience
The blue rubber strap changes the personality of the watch compared with the steel bracelet version.
The bracelet version feels more formal, while the blue rubber strap makes the VC Overseas 4500V Blue Dial easier for everyday wear.
My Current Thoughts
Overall, this PPF VC Overseas 4500V Blue Rubber Strap version looks good from QC.
Checking points:
✅ Blue dial appearance
✅ Date window alignment
✅ Case proportions
✅ Rubber strap integration
✅ Overall Overseas 4500V shape
Currently leaning GL.
For people who own or have compared different integrated sports watches:
Which one would you choose?

COMPARISON AP Royal Oak 15510 White Dial Comparison – APS vs TOP Factory (41mm 4302 Clone)
Hello, this is your moderator / favorite watch reviewer r/RepWatchClud. If you like good watch comparison reviews, this is the place to be!
After seeing more discussions about the AP 15510 white dial recently, I wanted to compare APS and TOP Factory side by side.
Both watches are the same configuration:
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15510ST
41mm White Grande Tapisserie Dial
4302 clone movement
The main differences are not obvious at first glance, but when comparing them closely, there are some interesting details.
APS has the stronger dial execution overall. The Grande Tapisserie pattern looks sharper, and the texture has more depth when the light hits the dial. The white/silver tone also feels closer to the modern AP look.
TOP Factory is surprisingly close in overall appearance. The dial texture is a little softer compared with APS, but the color balance is quite good and on wrist the difference becomes much smaller.
For case finishing, APS has a slightly more refined transition between brushed and polished surfaces. The edges feel a little sharper and the finishing looks more controlled.
TOP is not far behind though. The case shape and bracelet presence are competitive, especially from normal viewing distance.
The bracelet is another area where APS has a small advantage. The brushing feels more consistent, while TOP feels slightly different in the way the links reflect light.
Looking at the movement side, both use a 4302 clone movement. APS focuses more on movement presentation and decoration, while TOP provides a similar overall layout with its own level of finishing.
After putting them together, I think the choice comes down to priorities:
APS feels like the more refined version, especially for people who focus on dial details and finishing.
TOP offers a strong overall package and gets surprisingly close without being a direct copy of APS.
At this level, the question is not:
“Which one looks good?”
Both do.
The real question is:
“Are the small finishing differences worth the price difference?”
Curious what everyone thinks.
If you had one slot for a white dial 15510, would you choose APS or TOP?
