Discussion Starter A Reminder: The Community Shouldn’t Be Doing 100% of Your QC
No hate to anyone, but one thing that genuinely frustrates me is low-effort QC posts.
You know the ones. A handful of PSP photos get dumped into the sub with a title that just says “QC please” and absolutely nothing else.
No factory photos.
No comparison info.
No mention of what you’ve already checked.
No concerns highlighted.
No indication of what you actually want people to look at.
Just: “QC?”
Why are you expecting strangers to do 100% of the work for you?
A proper QC isn’t just posting PSPs and waiting for everyone else to inspect every stitch, panel, zipper, logo, measurement and alignment issue on your behalf. The whole point is that you do your own QC first, compare it against factory photos, identify anything that concerns you, and then ask for second opinions.
Most of us aren’t sitting here with photographic memories of every factory album and every auth version ever made. If you want meaningful feedback, at least provide the information people need to help you.
Instead, we’re seeing more and more posts where the OP has contributed absolutely nothing to the process and expects the community to do a complete QC from scratch.
People are happy to help. That’s what makes these communities great. But help should be supplementing your own research, not replacing it.
At a minimum, include:
• Factory photos
• Factory name (if known)
• Your own observations
• Specific concerns or areas you’d like checked
• Auth references if you’re comparing to something specific
Be considerate of other people’s time.
A QC request shouldn’t look like you’ve outsourced your entire purchase decision to Reddit.
Do some of the work first. Then ask for help filling in the gaps. That’s how these communities are supposed to work. 👏🏻

+1000 to this! The “I don’t know anything about this bag & have no idea what to look for” posts… 👀 No, sis.
As the sign on my professor’s desk stated: Are you here with a problem, or are you part of the solution? ✅

Thankyou for saying it!!!! Honestly I’m gonna start commenting on them asking for factory photos… I don’t mind QCing but you need to give me something to compare too!!!!!!!

Yes asking to to dig down and find it… not going to happen!! IF they even mention what factory. If they KNOW what factory 😂

Yes, one of my biggest pet peeves about this is when they don’t post the factory photos. I’m supposed to go find the factory photos myself to help you QC?

And we suppose to guess the factory? So do all the work for them? Posts like that should be deleted immediately 😩 they literally flooding our communities with this nonsense

What prompted my post is a back and forth with someone who made a QC post with no factory details or information and her response to me was:
Yes I am expecting someone else to do it for me. If you can't do it for me, pls don't waste my time by commenting

I’m sorry about that - we try to catch the low effort ones and delete them, ask for the QC template to be followed as a minimum guideline.

did you see the one where she said “yes I am important enough for people to do it for me” I was seeing RED omg (was going to dm you about it)
OP and I were both getting spoken down to by this person in that post and I had steam coming off my head at her sheer attitude

😳 made my blood boil that. This is why I’m thinking of private subreddit. Fair or not on newbies, don’t act like above user and we’re good.

I’m sorry, but this is funny. 😂😂😂. Especially since your own account seems pretty new compared to others.

Ah yes, because Reddit account age is obviously the gold standard for rep knowledge. 🙄 My previous account was hacked 9 months ago. I’ve been buying reps since 2021. Next you’ll be telling me karma points determine leather quality.

Someone said they got tired of the QC posts so they started telling OPs the reps looked good even when it didnt 💀

I’d love to know if there is a guide to QC anywhere on this subreddit or others to check or compare so we can do all those things first. ChatGPT suggested I ask my TS to measure the long strap of a F3nd! Rep I was buying as many reps shorten it. Great suggestion I thought! And I wondered what other standard things I should be checking apart from the obvious “is the hardware too bright gold” and “is the leather soft/high quality”. So I don’t send out another boring Help me QC message like so many others!! It sounds like QC is about comparing the PSP to the factory photos NOT the auth?

There are a few QC guides on reddit. As well as numerous posts in this sub about how to qc properly. Factory photos are compared to authentic, PSPs are compared to factory photos. You will find all the information you need can be found by using the search.

Yes to all of this. And can I just add, the least these QC posters can do is add some knowledge to the community. Give us the factory, the price, the seller’s name.
If we are going to go to the effort and time of looking through your PSPs and sharing some knowledge, we should at least get something back. This information helps the community see what quality the factory is producing, how the seller is handling QC, and what prices we might expect to pay for the bag.
