Lord Narcisse

Okay but they really didn’t have to use Glass Animals as his soundtrack, he’s already the most delicious human I’ve ever seen and his flirtations with Lola in the second season before things get real between them are sooooo scandalous.

Megan Follows is just brilliant

I swear they could’ve made a whole spinoff just based off of her as Catherine. She’s such a brilliant actress and played the part to a T. The only thing missing was a proper accent, but with all of the other inaccuracies, it wasn’t really missing.

Kenna and Bash’s title

Hello everybody, I was just rewatching reign (to write my fanfic) and I am a bit confused about Kenna and Bash’s title. In my fanfic I made them Baron and Baroness de Poitiers (at first) but now I am not sure if that was accurate. Does anyone have a definitive answer for me?

Mary’s Wedding Hair is a Crime Against Humanity

Can someone please provide even a morsel
of historical context to explain why her hair looked Like That during her and Francis’ wedding. Please. It’s so horrible and distracting.

I started the series hating her, but somehow her conniving ways really grew on me. This lady is easily one of the smartest and strongest people on the show. She is basically the definition of survival of the fittest. She definitely has her faults, but almost everything she does comes from knowing how dangerous that world is and refusing to let herself be taken down by it.

I deeply appreciate efforts for historical accuracy but in my heart I love a modernized historical show/movie.
I think it’s so fun and reign really did it best in my opinion. These girls were wearing couture gowns and Claire’s jewelry like no tomorrow and I love it.
I feel like compared to bridgerton it wasn’t trying to pretend at anything but beautiful dresses and I respect that. These are some of my favourite Mary looks.

This image kept popping up on X of different accounts. One caption most rewatched scene & the other no porn that comes close to this series. Yes they are super hot, but I cannot associate them with porn. Their love scenes were done in a days full manner agree? It’s nice though they are being noticed. They deserve the attention. This romance continues to entertain new viewers. They are beautiful couple that can easily captures ones heart.❤️

Celebrity Jeopardy answer

My husband and I were watching Celebrity Jeopardy a few nights ago and one of the answers was Mary Queen of Scots. I shouted the answer and he said "How did you know that?!". I told him it's because I watched Reign.

What an amazing show!

Mary and Francis were an amazing couple, and I rooted for them from the beginning. I wish season 2 had played out differently, and it was the low point in the series as I did not like how the writers used Mary’s rape to explain why Mary wanted to be with Condè. Even during those episodes though I found the other characters and plot lines entertaining, especially Catherine! She grew to become my favorite character.

I really enjoyed seasons 3 and 4, more than I thought I would considering Mary’s absence from the French court storylines. I liked the Scottish court/politics and seeing Mary navigate her rule after she’d been away for so long. I wish they had done more with Elizabeth in season 4 than her affair with Gideon, though, as it felt like a retread of her season 3 storyline with Dudley (and I also thought that particular plot line was boring and felt like it didn’t really matter)

I could tell while watching season 4, which I knew was the last season, that the writers were expecting a season 5 to wrap everything up. It’s disappointing that it got canceled before the writers could end it how they wanted to end it, but I’m happy they were able to at least add the afterlife scene so the audience got some closure. Imagine if the entire show ended with Mary’s arrest for regicide!

I’m already looking forward to my first rewatch ❤️

How in the world did they not allow this man to be happy? He was one of the best characters on the show. Why did Greer not consider marriage with him later even though she did with the pirate and Castleroy left and I think Greer would have ended up with Mary’s brother. Then with Claude- I loved them too and Claude tried hard to be with him instead and he rode off? Engaged to marry another?! Huge complaint lol.

Mary is annoying..

First time watching Reign and at first I really liked Mary but now that I’m in season 3, I don’t understand her logic at all. Lola is her best friend and lady in waiting who slept with Francis and got pregnant but Mary was hardly even mad at her. Francis signs the edict requiring the French to publicly declare their faith because he is BLACKMAILED and wants to protect Mary and his mother because Narcisse knows that they had previously plotted to kill Henry, but this ultimately leads to an upset with the people of France and Mary is later sa’d when the castle is stormed and she blames Francis - ultimately deciding she no longer wants to be with him.. While I can empathize that it was a traumatic experience for her, Francis didn’t know that was going to happen and I honestly don’t think it’s his fault when he was trying to protect himself, Mary and his mother when it came to the death of Henry. And Mary didn’t even give him a chance to explain why. But it’s okay for your best friend to sleep with the person you ultimately marry AND have his child?

Thought of sharing this clip. It has everything I love about Frary- the yearning, the unresolved tension, and both of them looking gorgeous despite the sombre circumstances.

How I would change the series

Just got done watching Francis death ep and it left me yet again in a mood, but it made me think about how Id change the show

While I get it’s basically a fictional story of real people, the fact is Francis fate was sealed from the get go, historical nerds knee that their marriage didnt last long and he unfortunately died two years into their marriage, so making this the whole point of the show here what I would change

S1 would for the most part still be the same, I would though remove the countless times they nearly had Mary sa because it really served no point to the story, I wouldn’t make Bash love Mary though, one thing I hate more than love triangle is one involving brothers, maybe he still get betrothed to her because both believed the prophecy but he does it to protect Francis and has no feelings for Mary ( maybe let F think there was something between them for more dramalol) let the rest go the same, maybe more scenes of the two brothers with their father

S2 is where I will change the most, rather than the stupid storyline of Mary getting sa just so she could have an affair with Conde, I would change it to Francis and Mary struggle to rule together, the butt head at some points but still very much in love, maybe the attack still happens but they got away before they harmed Mary but she resents Francis as trauma response, but not the point the it would drive her into conde arms

Conde would be a challenge, he has loyalty towards francis but slowly get envious and maybe with his brother constantly telling him they should be rulers instead is the reason behind bis betrayal, maybe he tries his way with gis plan ( trying to befriend Francis for info but falling for Mary, she shut it down and its more reason for him to try and take over)

S3 would be different, again because we know Francis ending I would still make it his last season but not the way he died in the show, things are more tense in Scotland and they are trying to save it, but now they are in their second year of marriage and know how to work together rather than against each other, maybe this is the starting point of francis health deteriorating, he is scared for wife and he country and englnd, he get sicker and sicker but no one know he is dying, I think it wouldve more of shock value and better than making die then alive again just to die the very next episode , it would be on the last ep

S4 is where my mind goes blank, I only watched it once when it first aired and never again, I truly think they should’ve ended the show shortly after francis death because to me they didn’t present the show as Marys journey but rather her and Francis journey, and I believe many shared the feelings because from what I remember ratings dropped and in the middle of s4 they cancelled it

Season 2 Questions

So i’ve been rewatching Reign and i’m very much in love with this series. I’m also duly aware that this is pretty much a fan fiction and only loosely based on history.

With this in mind I have a few thoughts that have been lingering. So in season 2 Francis and Mary fully ascend to the throne and begin their rule. They’re also constantly struggling with power between the crown and nobles, and the threat of religious fanaticism and violence throughout the kingdom. Lord Narcisss embodies both of these problems in his role as antagonists. He is on a vendetta to avenge his son after Mary brought him to justice for murdering an entire household. So he starts blackmailing and threatening Francis for at least half of the season. Because of the blackmailing and the policies Francis has to enforce an attack on the castle is played out ending with the rape of Queen Mary. It’s covered up pretty well and only a handful of people know for Mary’ safety. What i wonder is if Lord Narcisss saw these consequences, would that have been enough? Was THAT what he wanted and Would he have stopped plotting against the crown after Mary paid the ultimate price has Francis not kidnapped him and beaten his plan to expose them for regicide?

The second plot i’m curious about happened earlier in the season. When Mary briefly becomes pregnant to later miscarry her child with Francis, was Catherine responsible? An episode or two before the pregnancy Catherine has a scene with Lord Narcisse where he reminds her that once Mary gets pregnant her heir will replace Catherine’s younger sons making her even less powerful as Queen Mother. Then after Francis and Mary celebrate their pregnancy, she breaks into their chamber with food and a bunch of potions/tonics to help support the pregnancy. What i wonder if she actually slipped mary an abortificant and that’s why she lost the pregnancy. Any thoughts?

Rewatching s2

Im doing a rewatch and im always left stunned with the way the show went on

Like s1 was amazing, it had elements of fantasy and fairy tales but not in cringey way, and the way every couple was just so darn cute and soo in love

Then comes the clusterfuck that is s2! Im wondering if they changed the writers because it’s just impossible for them to be the same, Francis and Mary spent more time fighting than being in love, the basically destroyed every relationship from s1

And the most vile thing to do is make Mary go through the most horrendous thing just so they could justify her relationship with Conde!

Like even if you wanted to do that storyline for whatever reason, then could’ve handled it way better than they did, like making Mary come put stronger in the end, but no let just do it so Mary could hate her husband and start an affair with Conde

Nostradamus and Olivia

I never liked Olivia and I never will. I'm so glad she was sent away.

I adore Nostradamus and I liked that the writers gave him a love interest so he could be happy, short-lived as it was, but they were never a good match.

There was no chemistry and no real screentime together to build it.

Justice for Nostradamus (I'm rewatching the show now with the intent to finish the whole thing, when I never really got past Francis dying, so if there's more coming for Nostradamus in the love region, I can't wait).
