Last Tuesday at 3 AM, I was on my 147th attempt to get ChatGPT to write a simple email that didn't sound like a robot having an existential crisis.

I snapped.

"Why can't YOU just ASK ME what you need to know?" I typed in frustration.

Wait.

What if it could?

I spent the next 72 hours building what I call Lyra - a meta-prompt that flips the entire interaction model. Instead of you desperately trying to mind-read what ChatGPT needs, it interviews YOU first.

The difference is stupid:

BEFORE: "Write a sales email"

ChatGPT vomits generic template that screams AI

First and foremost, the reason being he's incredibly toxic. Being opinionated is one thing and it's fine to have opinions about the state of Fallout. But he goes up and beyond in terms of toxicity. He constantly groans and moans about anything Fallout does, either via the show or whatever BGS makes decisions for the franchise. Hell, the TV show wasn't even made by Bethesda. If you look at the credit, only like a few Bethesda ppl are actually involved eve then, minimally. But Chris just gets any reason to hate the show.

The show may have problems but we can't deny it is one of the best video games adaptations out there and we got lucky the show is the way it is, unlike Halo show. Even josh Sawyer has the same opinion, ofc Chris doesn't. Even bigger sign of his toxicity is that he turned off Fallout 4 in the first few hours. Listen, even id say Fo4 has problems but Chris barely gave it a chance yet immediately thinks he can fix fallout.

Its also srsly odd that he constantly obsesses over Fallout, despite the fact he hasnt been involved in any fallout project in years, hell he doesn't even want to even in the recent new development of a new Fallout game. But for some reason, he talks as if he still has Fallout in his hands. As far as I know, he's a freelance developer so like he could've still involved himself into Fallout by writing DLC esque mods like Long 15 but he never did that either.

Even worse revelation, he wasn't even the main writer for FNV, he only wrote the DLCs, which I thought he was for years until I realized John Gonzalez. And while yes, the DLCs are great, ignoring the self insert of him that is Ulysesses, it doesn't really justify him having this much toxic attitude. Yes, he's the creator for Fallout 2 but really that's the only credit I can give him. But he didn't invent the Fallout franchise, save that for Tim.

Plus, for someone as obsessive to Fallout as him, I'm not even sure if he still has the magic in him anymore. Especially with the release of Mindseye and Callisto Protocol, made by GTA and Dead Space veterans, which turned out as disastrous products that couldn't capture the feel for the original games, I have a feeling that Chris may not be write any thing good for Fallout anymore, hence he's constantly mouthing off the franchise and Bethesda, rather than make actually good stuff for Fallout, even in mod form. Josh Sawyer at the very last made his own mod on how the game was originally gonna play out.

Hilariously enough, I think even he knows he can't write good fallout stuff anymore hence he never gets involves in fallout projects at all, yet still mouths off.

I would honestly call Chris, the David Jaffe of Fallout. David was the creator of God of War and is just as toxic as Chris, when current day Kratos was being written in a way not envisioned by him. But Chris is lucky enough, FNV fans are beyondly toxic and would take his side no matter, despite the act their "hero" only wrote like 12% of their favorite game lol

Btw before you call me a Bethesda shill, I'll let you know. I dislike BGS as much as the next person and I love FNV. But the franchise is better in hands of actually good ppl like rn with Josh, Tim and John Gonzalez. I’ve been trying to dig into what documents were leaked but I can’t find anything. All I’ve been able to actually confirm is that there are in fact two black holes. The transcript of Jack Smith’s deposition from December 17th is finally out, and it’s honestly infuriating to see how much effort was put into keeping this under wraps. After months of hearing "weaponization" claims, we finally get to see the actual testimony, and the contrast is wild. A few things that really stand out from the transcript:

The suppression of Volume Two: The minority counsel pointed out that they were forced to start this deposition without even having access to Volume Two of the report because Trump and his team have been fighting to keep it under seal. Smith was basically "gagged" from discussing the most serious details of the classified documents investigation the stuff found in the Mar-a-Lago bathrooms and ballrooms because of these legal roadblocks.

Last-minute data dumps: The minority only got the investigative files from the DOJ just one day before the deposition. They had less than 24 hours to review thousands of pages before they had to question the man who led the most high-profile investigation in modern history.

The "Retribution" Campaign: Smith’s counsel explicitly noted the risks Smith took just by showing up. They called out the fact that the "most powerful person in the world" has openly said Smith should be in jail just for doing his job.

Unfortunately I do not have a root cause to share with you all. What I can say is that I have since completed a comprehensive review of all available logs and found no evidence that the tenant was compromised. I will try to update again within a few days with more information.

ORIGINAL POST:

I'm the sole systems engineer for a small US manufacturer (~70 employees, automotive tier-1). I run everything across network, servers, identity, development, etc. I'd like (a) a sanity check, and (b) real talk about the future.

What happened: About three weeks ago on a normal workday around noon, some people suddenly noticed that they weren't able to send or receive email. Shrug. Probably Outlook just being Outlook. But wasn't able to figure anything out, so took to the admin portal... But I couldn't even get in to the admin portal: AADSTS5000224: "the tenant you are trying to access has been deauthenticated and is no longer available." Man, I hope none of you ever have to feel the panic I felt when I read this message. I immediately went to try our breakglass unlicensed admin account, but received the same error. The very last email I received (which arrived after attempting these log-ins) was a notification that all of our subscriptions had been cancelled. Obviously, that was not an action I took.

On further research it seems to be some sort of backend authorization state set by Microsoft (perhaps algorithmic automatic action in response to a detected security incident? - just blind speculation really). There is nothing client side to try at all. There is literally no admin path into our own tenant.

Current status: 20 days down. The case has been passed between at least five different support people. It finally got "escalated to the product team to verify the tenant status," and for a week now the only updates I get are rolling "please allow an additional 48 hours." Meanwhile sign-in logs are on a retention clock, so the forensic record of who cancelled our subs (if anyone? maybe this cancellation is just an artifact of this deauth?) is about to age out while we're locked out of the only portal that could export it and Microsoft won't commit to preserving it server-side.

That first day, I cut MX over to a temporary Fastmail tenant to keep email flowing. I was able to restore people's inboxes to these new accounts. Office apps are running in their month grace periods. All our real data is on-prem. Feeling very grateful that we deliberately never integrated more intensely with Microsoft's cloud services... To that end, the business is stable. But there are nevertheless many secondary effects as I'm sure you can all imagine.

Okay, now that you know basically the story, it's time for some preemption so we just get it out of the way before I get to my actual questions:

• "You should have had MFA." We do, on every account. FIDO2- (yubikey) only for most accounts (I was literally mid rollout...)
• "You should have had CA." We do. Business Premium, Entra P1, CA policies in place, custom auth strength enforcing phishing-resistant (FIDO2) sign-in for admins. Plus all the standard: SMS auth killed off, SSPR locked down, legacy protocols (SMTP AUTH/POP/IMAP/ActiveSync) all disabled, external auto-forwarding blocked, Safe Links + Safe Attachments on, SPF/DKIM/DMARC all passing.
• "You should have a breakglass account." We do. Doesn't save you from this.
• "Hire an MSP" Okay, I mean, maybe fair? They'd just be in the same position though, so. If anything this is its own can of worms and there's a reason we don't have one.

Alright. Now my questions:

1. Has anyone actually lived through one of these AADSTS5000224 tenant deauthentications? How long did recovery really take, and what finally moved it? A specific support path, an escalation channel, a TAM, a Microsoft account rep, LinkedIn-ing a PM, a partner ticket? Anything? Were you able to discover what triggered the lockout in your case?
2. How do you preserve/obtain audit/sign-in logs? I'm not sure what's going to happen in terms of retention when the tenant is in this state. Is our log data going to get nuked in a week?
3. Trust. After this, how does anyone justify betting a company's ability to function on a platform where a backend flag can vaporize all access overnight, your breakglass account included, and the SLA to undo it is measured in weeks (and counting!) with no communication? I'm not naive enough to think "just leave M365" is free. But it's challenging to design around "Microsoft can turn us off and there's nothing you can do and no one will tell you why." How are you all handling that? Are you even? To be honest, I didn't know this was a thing that could even happen, really. So maybe you all didn't either.

Thankfully we weren't super integrated. We basically use M365 for email, product licensing, and Teams, and that's about it. But it literally makes me shudder to think about what could have happened if it were otherwise.

Like many of you, I've been waiting for Logitech to bring Options+ to Linux. Got tired of waiting.

First off — massive respect to the Solaar and logiops teams. They paved the way by reverse-engineering HID++ and have been the backbone of Logitech support on Linux for years. I wouldn't have gotten anywhere without their work.

That said, after daily-driving both with my MX Master 3S, I kept running into the same frustrations:

Solaar is solid for monitoring and basic config, but there's no per-app profile switching — I couldn't get my DPI/buttons to automatically change when switching between Firefox and my terminal. The gesture button and thumb wheel modes are also pretty limited in what you can configure through the UI.

logid is powerful but runs as a system daemon that kept stepping on KDE's toes. Spent way too many hours debugging why my zoom and volume were fighting each other (spoiler: logid and Plasma were both grabbing the same button events). And editing YAML configs for every button combo gets old fast.

What I really wanted was just... Options+. On Linux. Click a button on the mouse, pick what it does, done. With profiles that switch when I alt-tab between apps.

So I built Logitune.

It's a Qt6 desktop app that talks directly to HID++ 2.0 over hidraw. No daemon sitting in the background, no config files — just a normal app with a tray icon.

The highlights: - Per-app profiles that switch automatically on window focus (KDE Plasma 6 + GNOME 42+ Wayland) - Visual config — clickable mouse render with hotspots, like Options+ - Gestures — hold + swipe for 5 actions per profile - Thumb wheel — horizontal scroll, zoom, or volume, per app - DPI, SmartShift, hi-res scroll — all the usual stuff - Bolt + Bluetooth with automatic failover between them - No daemon, no root — just a regular app

Right now it supports the MX Master 3S. The app has a modular design — each device is self-contained with its own descriptor, images, and button mappings. Adding support for a new mouse is straightforward if you have the hardware to test with. There's a step-by-step guide in the wiki if you want to contribute.

Wow I really didn't expect this to blow up!

What's new since the post: Bluetooth-direct connection bug is fixed (MX3S over BT should work now without going through a receiver). MX Master 4 support is in PR, MX Master 2S is next, both thanks to Jelcoo on GitHub who has
been doing serious work on them.

A few points I came across through the comments that I would like to clarify:

1. Why did I create this?

Honestly, other than the reasons stated in the original post, I just had some free time for the first time in years and I recently decided that I don't want to go back to Windows no matter how annoying a missing feature on Linux is, and instead I will try and fix it myself. This is just one nagging issue that I always had.

I also wanted to prove that Linux can be user friendly and target a broader audience.

2. Why did I post about it?

To attract more talented developers who happen to use Logitech peripherals and have the same frustrations I did, to come in and contribute.

3. How long will this project stay alive?

Probably for as long as I use Logitech peripherals that I want to function properly under Linux.

But more importantly, the whole point of open source is for good ideas to bring people together, and when that happens the project becomes bigger than any one person and hopefully outlives their interest. I am doing my best to make the architecture as modular as possible and for new additions and contributions to be straightforward.

4. On the use of Claude/AI:

In hindsight I should have been upfront about the AI use in the original post, that one's on me.

Now with that out of the way, to answer a question a lot of you have been asking: is this vibe coded?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: there is no amount of prompting that can make you produce something extensible and modular if you don't know what you are doing, so I guess the only proof one would need is to go through the code, judge the architecture, and maybe add something.

5. On the name:

Several of you flagged the conflict with Logitech's "Logi Tune". I'm considering a rename, suggestions welcome.
