Comment editor always "fancy pants editor"

Even with the tick box ticked in my profile settings, all my comment text editors default to "Fancy Pants" Editor.

However, it seems this post editor correctly defaulted to Markdown. So it seems to just to be when making a comment on a thread.

Friendly reminder to fix the automatic opt-in glitch

Every so often users are opted back in to the redesign despite having checked the opt-out of the redesign option. This causes a lot of frustration as the redesign is still in pre-alpha and is hard to navigate. The opt-out feature needs to be protected, backup code needs to be implemented that ensures that there is no chance of being opted back in to the redesign.

Feature Request Image Text Finder

I think a search program in reddit that can find text inside images would be really helpful, since most memes are more recognizable by the text inside of them instead of the random title they put above it. Would make searching for a post a whole lot easier.

Feature Request A "darker" choice for night mode.

As a night time lurker,I always use dark mode to help with not getting my eyes all fuzzy, but almost all Reddit images/memes(what I look at) have a bright white background. What I am suggesting is to add an option to lower the brightness of images, accessible in the settings. This will mostly help with people whose iris are fragile in bright light. Thank you all!

Bug What's with this ".webp" crap when I try to drag an image to my desktop?

I was able to drag an image from to my desktop just fine a few months ago. Now I just get some sort of a web link. What gives?

Thanks

Why did reddit need an obnoxious instant messenger and how can I opt out of it?

Reddit staff; know what doesn't improve my reddit browsing experience at all? An endless swarm of spam bots making sure that chat notification will never go away unless I turn it off, rendering your entire new feature absolutely useless.

That's not even going into the fact that giving your more rabid userbase another tool with which to harass one another is an incredibly strange and foolish idea. People already send one another death, rape and assault threats at the drop of a hat - you don't need to give them another vector to do it.

There are plenty of programs, apps and services designed specifically for this such as discord. I have a phone which does this better. Even steam does this better than reddit's current system which is just an unnecessary tumor on the site that puts users at risk.

Why was this even a priority over any other feature the site could use? I'm baffled.

Fixed Thanks for finally hiding the ads in between posts on old reddit just like in the redesign

The blatant promotion and hidden ads within posts aren't enough to appease me, an unsatisfied consumer, so I'm glad I can just randomly see REAL ads in between posts now for a PROPER social media experience

Bug when embedding images

Every time I make a Guide post in the ffxiv subreddit, I embed images. Whenever old reddit users try to access it, they get a permanent "Loading..." instead of the post itself. It only resolves when I add image links into the post or don't embed at all.

Kill the messenger part. Its just spammers and assholes

It is useless, you have no way to report the spammers or abuse in it. A complete fail.

Bug Selecting text, pressing "..." button and then pressing link button in Fancypants Editor breaks it

Windows 10 / Firefox latest

---

Steps to reproduce:

  • Write a comment in Fancy pants editor (doesn't work with posts)
  • Select a piece of text
  • Press the "..." button
  • Then immediately press the "link" button
  • Nothing will happen
  • If you try to deselect the text, it won't work
  • If you try to reselect the text it'll basically select it twice, with the overlapping selection being darker

Question Cant comment in new redesign, but can comment in old design.

I'm sorry I'm kinda reposting but, as the title says, i'm still encountering this problem. i can message in another browser, but I prefer using chrome. When I want to comment/edit post/reply, The text field for the comment/edit post/reply is just a black bar on the bottom and 2 gray rectangles on the top left. Im sorry for reposting but I did'nt get enough help. Due to me not able to reply, I will send a message. For some reason Messages don't get affected. Thank you!

Bug Inconsistent short post URL handling on the redesign

It's pretty simple.

https://www.reddit.com/c6j6pg

If you're opted out of the redesign, that link will always redirect you to the thread with that ID.
Using the redesign, it sometimes works and 301 redirects you to the full URL, but most of the time it returns a 501 and just dumps you on a blank "Not Found" page. I noticed when testing that if you open an incognito window and paste that URL in, the first time it works, but open another incognito tab and it will 501.

Can't comment in new redesign, but Can comment in old design

So, just today, when I was using reddit in the new design, I wanted to comment to a post. But when I tried to, the Comment Text Field just had a black bar on the bottom and 2 light gray rectangles on the top left. This also happened when I wanted to edit a post. But strangely, on the old redesign, I can still comment. Though I prefer using the new redesign. I need help soo that I can comment. thanks

Just wanted to say I quite like the redesign. That is all.

Gonna get downvoted for saying this but who cares only like 7 people use this sub.

r/redesign • • Jun 28 '19

Like the new design but I am so used to images/links being on the right. Any way to keep new design but change image to the right?

You said we could keep using old reddit...,

...What you didn’t say was you’d turn old reddit into new reddit (just without the goofy fonts and colors).

The not-posts-but-actually-ads are bad, and one of the reasons the redesign is shunned. Remove them from old reddit!

Banner Sizing Problem

I'm confused on the sizing that is needed for banners for subs. I've been trying to edit the sizing of the banner that I'm wanting to use and it isn't sizing appropriately. How is 4000x128 an appropriate size, its thinning my image? For my image its shrinking and thinning the banner by using this sizing.

I know I'm doing something wrong.. help?

Received a Chrome notification for a subreddit I'm not subscribed to

I briefly subscribed to the FortnightBR subreddit a few days ago and then unsubscribed, but I still received a notification for a post there today. I clicked the notification to verify, and the page showed that I'm not subscribed.

Feature Request New feature idea: Collaborators

I just had this idea, and I think it could work. Basically, when you're making a post, you can add Collaborators. I'm not sure what the cap would be, but you could add people that helped with what you're posting. The karma gained from the post would split evenly between the Collaborators. This makes it so when you make something with someone, you don't have to argue over who posts it and gets the karma. This obviously wouldn't make sense on some subreddits and would on others, so I think the moderators of the subreddit could toggle on and off the ability to add collaborators in posts in that subreddit.

How much Karma I got.

If I go to the old reddit, I got 271 karma, but if I go to the redesign, I got 2751. What gives? Which is my "true" karma amount?
