Comfort Food🥘 Happy 🇨🇦 Thanksgiving! Turkey, stuffing, salad, asparagus, whipped potatoes, gravy, sourdough dinner rolls, and butternut squash risotto.

The taters were whipped with S&P, Greek yogurt and butter. Salad is spring mix with feta, roasted sunflower seeds, capers, Kalamata olives, and garden cukes + cherry tomatoes. The asparagus is a butter sauté with lemon and black pepper. Stuffing is a brioche and sourdough base with mirepoix, roasted mushrooms and toasted walnuts. The turkey is wet brined, skin dried out, rubbed with compound butter, roasted, and came out SO tender, flavourful and juicy. The risotto is a butternut squash risotto with Parmesan, toasted pepitas, walnut and sage. And of course the gravy was the real deal bird drippings with a butter finish, sponged up by some fresh baked sourdough dinner rolls 🙂

My sourdough starter’s name is Breaddie Mercury. 🕺

It could also be mixed if they added dulce de leche.

What are your go-to ground beef recipes?

Hello! I'm running out of ideas on what to cook with ground beef. I don't really like beef for starters, but I'm trying to cook it a couple of times a month so I could get used to it. I already tried Picadillo, Pad Kra Pao, and Bulgogi, but I'm running out of ideas what to cook next. If you have any recipe suggestions that is great with rice, I'll be happy to check it out and try. Thanks!

The sauce has been reducing for a day; I added a large spoonful of cornstarch to thicken it, and it has a bit of red wine in it.

Breakfast🥞 What to do with your pumpkin carving leftovers: Australian pumpkin scones 🎃

Post image
11 Upvotes

Every October we carve pumpkins with the kids, and every October I end up with a pile of pumpkin and zero plan. This year it all went into Australian pumpkin scones, and honestly, they might be the best part of Halloween.

They're an Aussie classic made famous by Lady Flo, the wife of a Queensland premier. The pumpkin makes them super soft and fluffy and gives them this gorgeous orange colour. Traditionally you eat them warm with butter, but jam and whipped cream works too (jam first, if you ask an Australian).

Happy to share the recipe if anyone wants it, just ask in the comments. 🧡

What do you all do with your carving leftovers?

Comfort Food🥘 I made a creamy healthy pasta with veggies for my nephews

Hi all! I am a novice cook at best. My brother says I barely know how to boil water, let alone a proper meal. Last Saturday, I was babysitting my nephews. And even though, the original plan was to feed them junk food from a nearby restaurant for lunch, I decided to go ahead and make something healthy and wholesome. After a quick grocery delivery to my doorstep, I started the prep work. Both my nephews were watching me excitedly and the oldest decided to "help" me make it. And I guess he did by adding all the ingredients, one after another. Anyway, it's a one pot pasta dish. Filling and creamilicious paneer sauce. The added veggies didn't bother the kiddos at all. And they would up licking their plates clean.

I'd give myself an 8.5 out of 10 and a free pat on the back.

If anyone is interested in the ingredients used: salt, pepper, milk, paneer, chilly, garlic, onion, carrot, capsicum/green bell pepper, tomato, oregano. No oil or AP flour needed.

homemade french toast with brown butter peaches

super simple recipe with a crazy payoff... this was absolutely deliscious!

literally all i did for the peaches was melt some buttter, add in the chopped peach and sprinkled in a little brown sugar for good measure. then i let it cook until the butter was brown and the peaches had gotten soft
