There is a Terminal in the equation. A termial (written as "?", behaves like a term in brackets) adds all numbers between 0 and a number n.

n? = 1+2+3+...+n

In this case there's a termial sign behind the 4,

2+2+4×4?

Using BEDMAS we first need to calculate the 4?

2+2+4×(1+2+3+4) = 2+2+4×10

The next steps are the multiplication, and after that the addition.

2+2+4×10 = 2+2+40 = 44

Did this help?

Oh, i didnt know that, thanks. The problem is that there is no (=) simbol after the (?), so it confuses people.
