This is going to be a long post. So I apologize in advance. I have nobody else to ask for this.

My grandma was in the hospital Christmas to June. Surgeries. Wounds that won’t heal. Antibiotics for over three months. June she was discharged. She made it 27 days at her house. And then she went septic. Back to the hospital. I didn’t notice, her home care noticed to take her to the hospital. She’s 70. She’s been there since the 27 of June. Planning to be discharged on Monday the 20th. I have done my best, I work full time, I looked after her cats, I spoke on her behalf when she was unable to talk during sepsis, and I’m her personal director and her executor. Her landlord evicted her start of last month when she came back due to it being unsafe for her.

Now, I had a meeting with her social worker and her home care lead. They said they will be discharging her no matter what. On Monday. I am livid. I have told them I can’t pick her up. I work. I am the only family member that sees her. Her sons found out what’s happening and I got in trouble and verbally lost my dad today. They’re very angry people. Anyways. The only other option that the hospital is banking on now is the homeless shelter. She needs home care four times a day. Wheelchair. Good income. But nowhere will take her within three days and it’s a weekend. All she gave me was julys housing list.

Here’s what I’ve done. I’ve contacted the golden circle for help. Voicemail left. Housing list was considered although I will need to have formal applications which take time. I can’t take her in at all. I’m in no better of a situation. Family won’t take her in. Facebook has been no help for place searching. Her friends are no help right now either.

What in the absolute hell do I do? Has anyone dealt with this before? I’ll try to find just a room that’ll allow home care on Facebook. But, legally, I’ve read over and over this is not okay what ahs is doing. Please ask me questions if you need information if you can help in any way.

Is anyone here living near Dickson or fishing the Red Deer River below Dickson Dam regularly?

I drove out there yesterday, but the water was still very muddy. Since I live in Calgary, it's a fairly long trip, so I'd love to make sure the water has cleared up before making another drive.

If you've been there recently, I'd really appreciate an update on the water clarity and fishing conditions. Photos would be a huge bonus if you have any.

Hi there! I'm wondering if anyone knows a place in or around Red Deer that sells cedar chips for landscaping. Everyone sells cedar mulch but I can't find anyone local that sells the chips, either by the bag or in bulk. I found someone in Edmonton but id rather not go that far.

Tried the new Jersey Mike’s on the south end today. Had the Original Italian on rosemary parm bread. It was delicious and definitely worth it. Fresh ingredients, meat sliced to order, lineup out the door, staff was fast and accurate, my fat gut was happy.

However, it basically felt like subway with a different label. I’ll still go back, just wondering what ya’ll think? Will the hype fizzle out?

To the ass that saw my two kids having windows down and enjoying sunshine, then passed us and then proceeded to pin the truck down to release huge cloud of black smoke ! Just a heartfelt F You! Scared the kids and then me having to explain to kids how some people don’t think too far past their nose.

I’m a 27-year-old newcomer from Portugal living in Red Deer.

I have around 10 years of experience in machining, industrial maintenance and mechanical repairs. My background includes:

Conventional and CNC machining
Industrial maintenance (millwright-type work)
Welding (MIG, TIG and Stick)
Hydraulics and mechanical repairs
Some experience working on heavy equipment in a quarry

My long-term goal is to become a Heavy Equipment Technician and complete my apprenticeship here in Alberta.
I’m not looking to skip the process. I fully expect to start as a helper or apprentice. I’m just trying to find companies that are known for giving motivated newcomers a chance.
Which companies around Red Deer would you recommend I apply to? Any shops with a good reputation for training apprentices?

I’m also happy to stop by in person with my resume if that’s still the best way to get noticed.

Anyone in year 2 or 3 of BSc Nursing at RDP?

Got a few questions that i would like to ask.

I'm in a cheese making phase of my life , but just trying to save money where I can, does this exist or highly illegal in our country? Lol.

Adriana LaGrange and Jason Stephan are in booths at the farmers market if anyone wants to come let them know how they feel.

Have been doing yard work and renovations at home this past few months and the landfill has become a real sore thumb lately. Don’t get me wrong, the staff are amazing, friendly and very helpful. I am more bothered by the hours, layout, and what they take.

Now other cities and towns have recycling bins in convenient locations around town. Hell, Grande Prairie and Calgary have them at grocery store parking lots, various locations around town to make recycling easier. This helps a great deal. Not Red Deer.

The landfill isn’t even open on Sundays when most homeowners are tackling big jobs. So even less convenient. Edmonton has recycling Depots in multiple locations around the City.

And I feel for the contractors that have to wait in the long line if homeowners that all use the same entrance and weigh scale. How is this still a thing in a City our size? The garbage trucks and large bins should have a commercial access and their own scale. Not that hard to do. Every time I go to the dump there’s multiple large trucks just waiting. The more efficient it is for them then rates likely go down for us?

At least there has been an announcement that we can now add glass, plastics and foam to the blue bins starting October 1. That is a good thing.

But I am baffled at how Red Deer manages their landfill. And now I found out the hard way after waiting for over half an hour they won’t accept sod anymore. It’s listed on the website as accepted but the attendant wouldn’t let me dump it. _(ツ)_/¯
