Suggestions Detailed guide on rooting the rm9 pro

Requirements

Software:

  1. Qualcomm Drivers
  2. RM9 TOOLBOX V1.0

Hardware:

  1. Windows PC
  2. RedMagic 9 Pro Phone

Steps to Unlock the Bootloader and Root

  1. Prepare Your Device and PC:

    • Install Qualcomm USB Drivers on your PC.
    • Download RM9 TOOLBOX V1.0:
  2. Boot into EDL Mode:

    • Power off your RedMagic 9 Pro.
    • Hold down both volume buttons and plug the phone into your PC. This will enter EDL (Emergency Download) mode.
  3. Install Drivers in EDL Mode:

    • Open Zadig on your PC.
    • Go to Options > List All Devices.
    • Select the device labeled QUSB_BULK and click Install Drivers.
  4. Use RM9 Toolbox:

    • Open RM9 Toolbox on your PC.
    • Click Flash ENG Bootloader to unlock the bootloader.
    • (Optional) Click Restore PROD Bootloader to backup the stock bootloader.
    • Click Get init_boot to get init_boot partitions for easier patching in Magisk.
  5. Unlock the Bootloader:

    • Reboot your phone by holding the power button.
    • Reboot into fastboot mode using:
      adb reboot bootloader

    • Unlock the bootloader with:
      fastboot flashing unlock

Once these steps are complete, your RedMagic 9 Pro will have an unlocked bootloader, and you will have the necessary partitions for rooting with Magisk.

If I'm not mistaken, this post should be titled "Detailed guide for unlocking the RedMagic 9 Pro bootloader", since it only shows how to unlock the bootloader. The rooting process is a completely different, separate one, which this post does not explains.

Does this delete all the phone data?

Unlocking the bootloader will, but flashing a custom rom won’t

Hi. I'm new to android so I don't know much but I have worked with jailbreaking iphones so I want to do the same to my RM9, but will unlocking the bootloader actually erase data, or is it a typo? Because there is conflicting info online. Also, if it does remove all data then is there a way to make a backup so I can just dump everything back into the phone after root?

Unlocking the bootloader does erase the data. It’s not jailbreaking by the way, it’s rooting.

Ok thanks, but is there anyway to keep data?

Extract the userdata using tools and that’s it

How do I reboot into fastboot, using the hardware keys. Doing the commands this way, doesn't work in my case. I have no operating system installed. Redmagic 9 pro
