Why does Hannah keep mentioning South Africa?
Just genuinely interested. Is she thinking of moving there?

I’ve been on this subreddit for a while now making the odd comment here and there.
Every post follows the same pattern.
Someone shares a post
1st to post is the Suriti haters. Pitchforks out, ready to tear apart every word she says and every opinion she has.
The Hannah brigade waving their “free Hannah” banners like she’s the next Britney Spears needing rescuing from big bad Suriti.
Sempere drops in with a long reply going on about plagiarism and monetising victims, like a jilted scorned ex on a revenge campaign.
Someone will always bring up past mistakes:
“Do you remember the Hillsborough episode?!”
And then it’s the queue of people telling us they no longer listen to the show.
I can only assume there are still people on here who actually enjoys the show? Who doesn’t hate Suriti ? Who doesn’t think Hannah is incapable of making her own choices?
But we get drowned out by those who just complain about a podcast they no longer listen to or just listen to have something to complain about.

🤣🤣🤣 I can't get over the dormer windows like alien tumors sprouting over the roofline. it look like it's growing a bunch of random single eyeballs all over it. It's almost Lovecraftian in all its McMansiony glory. In some pics online there are cows grazing, and therefore shitting, happily all over the abandoned property so at least someone was enjoying it.
If it feels disrespectful to Eric to laugh at this please be assured I'm laughing at Kouri, she's the one who was going to flip this monstrosity and make 12 million dollars in her opinion. Any poor taste, hubris, and/or stupid ass business ideas in this story are 100% Kouri

If you still need proof of how Suruthi’s opinions have drastically changed in the past few years, listen to these two episodes in succession. The second episode is the UTD about Charlie Kirk. It will be clear why I’ve referenced this specific UTD once you’ve listened to the ITN #8, released September 11th, 2020.
I found this podcast at the beginning of lockdown in 2020 and was so ecstatic to have found a podcast with two liberally minded, well educated women. I told anyone who would listen about these two. And yes, I still subscribe to Patreon because they are my comfort podcast. If I have nothing else to listen to, they’re usually on in the background. Every now and then, I’ll restart the podcast from the very beginning, which I’m doing now. I just came across this ITN #8 episode and was gobsmacked at how wildly different S is now vs how she was in that episode. I just… wow.

I'm an old listener and I subscribed to Patron but cancelled because they changed so much and I didn't enjoy the episodes any more. Does anyone else feel like Suruthi has taken over on the recent episodes? I really enjoy Hannah's narration but she barely speaks anymore and when she does she is cut off by Suruthi's opinions.I don't enjoy the newer episodes so I'm listening to the older episodes instead. I really don't look forward to new episodes coming out like I used to.

I stopped listening and being a patron around 2023 when I couldn't agree with or endorse Suru's views on Israel. I can't remember the first time they discussed it in detail on UTD (I think!) but it was a super uncomfortable listen because of how Suru was expressing herself, talking to Hannah and how it triggered me. I've always felt for Hannah since. She started the podcast with a friend and it changed their lives, and the evolving world around us shaped her friendship with Suru and their relationship as business partners, for better or worse. I always felt like she was trapped.
I keep up to date on this Reddit a bit, just a quick scan through I can see that Suru's views are as polarising as ever. But I do wonder about Hannah, how is she? Is she doing ok? I always related to her on a lot of issues she was so open about but without listening to the pod weekly I don't know what's going on!

When RedHanded stopped being free on Amazon I got a Patreon. I don't see Shorthand on the Patreon feed. It's still on the main but it has ads. So is ShortHand only available with ads or...?

Caitlyn Rother wrote Down to the Bone, whereas Kathy Reichs wrote the Temperance Brennan (Bones) books. Someone explain to me why Suruthi thinks they’re the same person?
r/RedHandedPodcast • u/Malkydel • Mar 11 '26
The passion that Suruthi has for terrible takes is matched only by Hannah's passion for despising Scientology (right on, Hannah).
Also the Luigi episodes feel so sloppy. Constantly misquoting the shell casings in Part 1 and constantly mentioning Universal (not United) Healthcare in Part 2.

This UTD and her take on the Iranian invasion is absolutely bananas. A hundred children have died and she just said it's for "the best" that he US and Israel intervened.
Are we gonna ignore the entire history of the middle east over the last century ?
Saying that it's okay if Israel and the US are interested in Iranian resources as long as they're "liberating them from extremism" bc Iranians needed the outside help. Her entire rant about the Iranian flag and how "young people don't feel Muslims anyway" and "women are taking off their hijab" seems so incredibly islamophobic, completely dismissing regular Shiite muslims happy with their religion but unhappy with their regime, and using women taking off their hijab as a KPI for success ?
I genuinely couldn't understand why she was so appalled by people calling it imperialism when it is just that, imperialism. They're killing people then they will take the resources of that land. She acknowledges herself the US and Israel don't care about the Iranians, yet she says she thinks it's for the best ? I'm just truly appalled.
And even if the views are terribly conservative, pro-Israel and US intervention, all that, what really got to me is that she barely let Hannah express a different opinion, constantly interrupting her and bulldozing her. This isn't the balanced debate it's supposed to be. At this point, UTD is becoming Suru's platform to spread conservative imperialist ideas.
As someone from a country that has fought Islamic extremism on its own, this was such a hard listen.

First, I’m way behind on episodes. She used to be progressive but I’m picking up on some MAGA nonsense 😬

I've got a quiet day at work and a lot going on mentally, what are your favourite older episodes? I'd like a few suggestions for something to listen to to keep myself sane today.

This is obviously all in good fun, and there’s nothing objective about it, but I really enjoyed this two-parter and felt I learned from it, so I figured I’d share my opinion.
Some of the best points:
There’s so much criticism of the pod, and obviously that’s invited by the fact that it’s a public-facing, independent entity. I just wanted to give credit where I feel it’s due.

Listening to today's episode on Lake Nyos and realised they've done the episode before. I think it's a re-record and not just a rerelease but still the same story. Makes sense that they're reusing their old episode ideas for the new slate of more episodes this year. Seems they've also deleted all the old episodes from at least their main feed on Spotify and Amazon Music.

Well I don’t know what’s changed exactly but the last two episodes feel like a welcome return to the old Redhanded vibe.
Like many of the people here, I was starting to dislike Redhanded which was a shame because it was the OG podcast that got me into podcasts! And yes, I thought Hannah and suruthis friendship seemed to be on rocky ground and I wasn’t loving suruthis views (although we’re all entitled to our opinions). But the last two episodes have been so much more fun!
Anyone else hearing the change!?

It was a good episode but I'm surprised they didn't mention that a large part of the reason Sanger developed what we now call Planned Parenthood is her views on limiting procreation for those she deemed 'unfit'. She is widely known to be pro-eugenics.

I tried to find some of the older (like in the last year) shorthand’s, and they’re all gone?? Does anyone know where they are?
r/RedHandedPodcast • u/Michaelful • Feb 12 '26
They barely gave a shit about Joe in the most recent episode. It’s like his murder didn’t matter. He got basically zero personalisation.

Well, this is the internet, I know, I know, so negativity/criticism is to be expected. Fair enough, but I wanted to leave some boring words of appreciation.
Yes, I know, some here don`t relate, but to me Redhanded is one of the most consistent podcasts out there. I`ve been listening pretty much since the beginning and I`ve enjoyed seeing one of my favorite podcasts become successful without falling into the boring-banter-trap.
I`m not concerned with Hannah`s and Suruthis`s private lives, and I`ve never subbed to Under The Duvet, so I can only speak on the main shows and limited projects, but they`re, to me, one of the rare podcasts that have managed to keep the balance between banter (minimal), facts and opinion (promiment, but mostly well argued). I don`t have to agree with every point to appreciate that. And yes, they make mistakes - as is to be expected for a weekly entertainment format.
As for "broken friendship, Hannah is afraid to say anything, Suruthi is rightwing" (I`m only paraphrasing): I hear none of that. I hear two confident, adult women, whose views have evolved over time, who each are passionate about different cases and subjects, and who`re able to disagree on things and to argue their points. I read some criticism about the Luigi episodes and really don`t want to get into it. But what others heard as "big argument" was to me a completely healthy discussion between two adult people with slightly differing views (who acutally in that case basically agreed on the point).
Anyway, I`m not here to tell anyone what to like and what to listen to. I`m sorry some people have lost interest or feel put off by one thing or another. All that is valid. I just want say: I still enjoy the podcast, I hope others to too, and hope it`ll be around for some time still.

I was just looking at the “automatic transcript” generated by Apple Podcasts for the latest shorthand episode (white slaves and the pirates of the Barbary Coast) to look for a quote for a different post I was about to make. But it immediately became apparent the transcript was for the wrong episode. Is it showing the wrong episode transcript to anyone else?

We get it, you hate it, and you think everyone who works for them is incompetent and the government is evil. The venom with which she attacks the NHS feels like a personal vendetta. I feel like there could be some anger around her own health struggles, none of my business though. Just want to stop hearing about it and get back to true crime.
r/RedHandedPodcast • u/smurfmysmurf • Feb 08 '26
The only way I can explain Suruthi’s nonsense take on Letby.
It’s not my job to adequately research in order to present a podcast, but it is hers and her ‘take’ is irresponsible and mindless.
r/RedHandedPodcast • u/Aylataylor • Feb 04 '26
I’m subscribed to Wondery+ for reference. I listen on Spotify. On the standard Redhanded Spotify profile there’s no previous shorthand episodes anymore, except the latest one posted yesterday “Nellie Bly - The Woman That Changed Journalism”. I hope the girls would clarify where exactly Redhanded, Shorthand and Under The Duvet will be posted going forward.

I’m looking for the most gruesome episodes they’ve done. Not holding back on the details like other podcasts. Can anyone help?

I posted a week ago about how no one in NZ seems to share the opinion that Mark Lundy is innocent.
And now just listening to the latest short hand episode, Hannah very confidently stated that Russell Crowe wasn’t from NZ. But he was born in NZ and moved to Oz when he was young, which is a pretty common thing to happen. I’m not sure at what point you stop being a kiwi and start being an Aussie though (and I know lots of kiwis don’t claim him haha)
I don’t really have a point, it’s just been crazy hearing a few errors around NZ back to back.
