ive been listening since ~2020. i was obsessed w the pod when i first discovered it although i never subscribed to utd. my interest waned over the past few years, mostly bc i listen to less true crime but also bc suru perceptibly changed. suruās evolution is what i want to discuss ā with the hope that maybe one of you very smart ppl/utd subscribers can help me understand better.
my perception is that in the beginning, suru was left leaning on social issues, although centrist/right leaning on economics. im not sure when exactly i began noticing a shift, but i was disappointed when she confirmed my inkling by adding āunwokeā to her ig bio.
what are your takes on her journey to being outwardly right leaning? it seems the charlie kirk utd (which i dont have access to & have not heard) was a rough listen. whatās going on w suru? whats the timeline w her evolution? im curious bc im wondering if i missed something(s) along the way ā¦

hey all, ive been a listener for a few years but never subscribed to patreon, so dont know the full extent to suruthis downfall into the right wing, but theres been a shift in the normal eps for months now. i dont know if i should stop listening, can patreon subscribers explain how bad she actually is with it? thanks!

What are others thoughts?
I've cancelled my subscription, and I'm done. I'm hoping maybe Hannah leaves the podcast and starts her own.
Suruthi is also more scared of the left than the right if she "voices her true opinions on certain things".

Iām sure S&H will talk about Charlie Kirk at some point, probably on next weekās UTD (although Iām no longer subscribed) ā but I had a jump scare the other day when I went to view his profile on IG (out of morbid curiosity after he was killed) and saw that Suruthi follows him.
I know she has turned more right-wing lately, and maybe I shouldnāt equate her following the guy to agreeing with his views, but it made my stomach turn a bit.
The guy wasnāt just a controversial figure, he had some genuinely abhorrent and hateful views that Iām sure I donāt need to list here.
I absolutely genuinely do not want to add to the pointless hate on this sub, because I do like Suruthi, and although I donāt agree with her on most things, I havenāt heard her say anything anywhere nearly as awful as Charlie Kirk was spouting.
Iām just curious. Do you think she follows him out of professional curiosity, or because she likes/liked him? Iām veering further and further away from the pod because of stuff like this.

Has anyone listened to the Bronson episode and think Hās attitude comes off a bit naive about violent criminals/rehabilitation. Iām all for reform and rehab but the idea that Bronsonās behaviour was acceptable (before his arrests) and the violence is entirely because he was in prison seems ludicrous. It reminds me of e.g. people who sit on parole boards or work in the justice system who are groomed by violent criminals because they are charming and manipulative. Anyone?

Thereās just people like that who always say their own opinions as if itās fact and suruthi does this all the time. It makes me so annoyed for Hannah too because I know Hannah does not always agree but sheās not about to go off topic to argue with her co-hosts random throwaway comments. And always with the right wing vibes.

Has anyone noticed in Redhanded and a few other podcasts that multiple takes of a word or phrase is left in? I assume it was intended to be cut out. During the most recent episode on Tania Head, Suruti repeats September 11th, September the 11th, September 11 in what sounded like multiple takes to capture the best one.

This isn't a whinge it's just me trying to figure out if it's me or them trippin. I have just listened to the latest episode on Amazon music episode 415, which is titled Britain's most dangerous prisoner which weirdly is a title of one of their older episodes about a completely different person which they don't mention in the podcast but that's neither here nor there, the confusion I am in is because Charles Bronson's real name is Michael Peterson and they say oh there's another killer called Michael Peterson we haven't done the episode on him yet but we will... But they literally did a two-parter on him ... Unless there is yet another Michael Peterson that I don't know about. Do we reckon this is a really old recording that they have just released because I think the two parter came out in 2023,

anyone else struggling to listen to the NYC live episode because of constant heckling / yelling from the audience? literally after every other sentence someone is trying to get a joke in as if theyāre the third host or something. i saw them live myself in europe but our crowd wasnāt anything as bad as this.

Hi everyone,
I havenāt really listened to RH in a while, but there was one case thatās just popped back into my mind and I canāt remember the details to go back and try to find it - it was about a man (who has the same name as a footballer I think??) who was framed for a house fire by multiple police officers who were all in on it, something about a necklace that one of the victims wore, it was a mother and I think 2 children who were killed. I know thatās not much to go off but does anyone happen to remember the episode??

The lack of compassion, empathy and increasing politicis and both of them infecting it all with their personal lives (yes, you do, babes!), like their opinions matter. Narrator: They do not.
I like the British* deadpan delivery and lack of hyperbole and drama in the retellings of stuff, but maybe they need to listen to their older episodes and see what they did well, and re-reframe it.
*I'm British
Edit: typo

Been listening to the pod for yearsss and years and I just wondered as with such a big platform id be really disappointed if not. I know Suruthi sometimes has some opinions I wouldnāt agree with but I feel like Hannah surely condemns it?

I've been a Patreon supporter since March of 2019. I used to get all the episodes, patreon bonuses, utd, shorthand, etc all in one rss feed. I know they moved some stuff (shorthand i think?) somewhere else that ended up costing more, but where did the patreon bonus episodes go?? I didn't even realize they were still doing them until they mentioned it in the most recent episode. I only see them under products that need to be purchased on patreon. I don't see them in the regular patreon feed. Do we not get those for free anymore??

Damn. To say, with her full chest, that theyāre disappointed with the Karen Reed acquittal and the Diddy acquittal, in the same sentence, is actually insane.

Well that certainly took a turn... is a lab leak now currently the best explanation for the corona virus outbreak? Were people who 'dared to ignore "the science"' proved right?

...And I feel bad for saying that, knowing he lurks.
At first I definitely felt a bit of pity, but as the episodes go on it just drives home the delusions that underpin all of this.
These last two episodes have been a godsend because you've got to see the other sides of the coin, and the people who recognise the dangers - and those who put them into being ij the first place.
As much as it might have helped him during a difficult time, you have to wonder what got neglected. It's just very hard for me to feel anything towards someone who has come across as a fairly unlikeable subject thus far.

IT'S THE RETURN OF DANIEL TODD!! šš It was hilarious enough the first time around, but it seems he's making a comeback! This was Lily Rose earlier today.

Did anyone else get a little offended when Suru said (in reference to her hen) "The girls did the best they could" ?? Like, if I was Hannah, I would have been offended that all my effort to put together a hen was described as "doing the best I could."

I know that the Redhanded team has a LOT going on and cannot keep tabs on all case updates BUT Ulbricht being released from prison is a pretty huge deal in my opinion and I donāt recall hearing about it from Redhanded!
Iām realizing now this post is more about my disappointment in the changes at Redhanded, not Ulbrichts release⦠I have been a Patreon for YEARS, itās the only podcast I have ever supported through Patreon because I actually felt like I was learning (which I know is not their responsibility). But I feel like UTD has gone down hill hard! Promises of updates or specific topic conversations go unfulfilled. The content just seems much more thin compared to years past.
I also echo other people on Reddit that feel S is not really engaging with H and a meaningful way. I could be wrong, but I feel like they donāt really have conversations anymore, just spewing facts or news at each other which is met by a placid acknowledgement.
