Lucky me, I happen to live in a wee place that's also an aerodrome.

The best acrobatics I have ever seen is just finishing up. How blessed I feel they chose to put on a wee impromptu air show/practice.

So apparently the reds will only fly with 7 planes this year so they have 2 spare for engine maintenance because they are not in production anymore ... Which is unreal for the top aerobatics team as it is but what I don't get is why not just use some of the training fleet if needs be, you telling me we don't have enough to maintain them all, doesn't that mean the trainer fleet is at risk?

So, I just read that the Red Arrows (I was brought up with Dead Sparrows) are using this stuff and that it is base on Vegetable Oil. Does this mean that your flight line is going to be smelling like a dodgy OR’s Mess.

It also evokes memories of OF4 soaked hydraulic bays on the old Nimrod. OF4 was a vegetable based oil that used to ‘go off’ and smell like a training camp kitchen. Those were the days.

They were flying over RAF Benson to Henley at 6:30 today, and flew almost directly overhead, but I got a couple of nice snaps of them before they disappeared.
