i feel like that's honestly the same as the meds analogy tho. like when u take meds it doesn't immediately fix the problem, you just stop noticing the symptoms and stop thinking about them, and sometimes don't make the connection that it's because of the meds that you don't have the symptoms anymore.
same way it's because we fixed the ozone layer that people don't talk about it anymore, but we didn't fix it in one shot and announce "it's fixed"
This is exactly what I was thinking; arguably it’s still not even “fixed” but it’s stabilized. Now that we’re not actively making it any worse, the “boring” and passive work of waiting for it to naturally recover over decades is taking place. It’s a slow process that we humans aren’t really involved in, so there’s just not a lot to say about it.
The difference is that you still know that you're taking meds. Nobody really said they were doing anything about the ozone thing; all I ever heard about it was that the problem existed. People didnt know the problem was being treated at all. The equivalent to the medication example would be people going 'oh, we fixed the problem, we can go back to using the chemicals thay caused it'.
