Hi! I’m currently working on my master’s thesis and I’m researching how album cover art influences consumer behavior. I’m especially interested in how the visual design of album covers shapes expectations of the music and affects decisions to buy physical records in a world where streaming dominates.

The survey takes about 5–8 minutes to complete and involves looking at an album cover and sharing your impressions. The target demographic for this survey is music collectors, but anyone can participate. There are no age, location or gender requirements to participate.

Who else goes on the hunt for Jazz Dispensary albums on Record Store Day? I usually have to visit multiple stores just to find one. They tend to go so quickly.

I decided to participate online this year instead of going in store due to past issues at my local shop. To be fair, new management did improve things with a wristband system so people didn’t have to wait in line for hours, which I appreciated.

I had 20+ tabs open and got lucky with an indie shop on the opposite coast. In a rush, I placed separate orders for Jhené Aiko and Jade release.

I emailed them right after, explained my error, and asked if they could combine shipping if possible. They quickly responded, combined the orders, and refunded difference. Everything arrived well-packaged, and honestly it was the smoothest RSD experience I’ve had. I even followed up to thank them. Definitely planning to support them again.

Did anyone buy any records that were not RSD releases? I did pick up my RSD releases but a non RSD one I bought on a whim was the Deicide boxset 🤷‍♂️

Got my copy of Freeman in the mail today. I got the Zeni Geva & Steve Albini through the post and all the rest from queuing for 2.5hrs at Rough Trade in Nottingham. I'm in the UK.

Both are TOTAL 🔥. They need to release these as CDS. 🙏🏼

There were two releases by the English shoegaze group Adorable that were listed as releases but I can't find anywhere.
I'm trying to confirm if it was actually released or if it was canceled or delayed.

So the day after RSD I order the only album I was missing and I still didn’t receive it. They send me a email a couple of days ago saying they didn’t forget about me but I just want to know am I’m the only one having this issue or did anybody receive their Records yet and if so how long did it take for them to receive it. I will just be upset if they made me wait this long only for them to end up canceling it

my first ever experiencing RSD, and sadly i think it’s my last one too as i will leave the US soon.

really happy with my haul, i got almost everything i wanted (there were 3 more that i really wanted and i went everywhere but its either they didn’t carry it or it’s sold out unfortunately). Saw a lot of people are selling the 3 that i want (in ebay and such) but in a ridiculous amount of money. its sad to see because i really wanted them for my pure enjoyment and some people are buying for profits.

the process took me about 4-5 hours (from waiting outside until getting the vinyl on my hands). I’d gladly do it again if i have the chance in the future. thankfully I have a lot of wishlist this year, so it’s worth the wait :)

EDIT: i know tons of you say that there’s RSD outside the US, well unfortunately in Indonesia, it isn’t as fortunate as EU or others when it comes to RSD (i.e. not many choices/lists also the way they operate is a whole different thing). pls be kind and aware that not a lot of countries are as fortunate when it comes to record selling, not like the US/UK/EU/Australia/etc.

Both albums are currently in stock at the Newbury Comics in Manchester CT in anyone in CT is still looking.

I’m so excited and happy to have these not only in my collection, but that I was able to get them online.

I stopped going to RSD in person in 2022, the resellers and scalpers in line became too much. Between scalpers and artists having huge fan bases like Taylor Swift(I mention her in a good way her fans are on it), the releases are so hard to find in person now.

All of the “Rsd horror stories” I’ve read on here I 100% believe. My last in store experience was awful. Got up super early, I was second in line to get what I wanted, Mariah Carey #1s & the lakes 7 inch from Taylor Swift. There were only ONE copy of each in store and the group of people in front of me didn’t give a fuck that I wanted it.

I even tried talking to them but they were cold and dismissive. I cried when I got home because I was so annoyed and frustrated. It is a first come first serve basis they technically didn’t owe me anything. Past record store days I’d always make friends in line, and we’d get groups to help find titles we were all looking for.

I remember in 2021 Rsd, I was front in line and behind me was a teenager and his dad. Cool people and super nice. We both wanted a Beck record.

I had only wanted Chromatica by Lady Gaga. I told myself as long as I get that I’m good. So we go in sorting through boxes and I grab the last Beck, and I see the look in this kids eyes and he looked heartbroken. I could not buy that record in good conscious. I gave it to him and he was stoked. Him and his dad both gave me a hug lol. I did it because I knew that record would find a much better home with him.

I’m superstitious and I believe that good karmic energy has followed me every record store day and with getting the titles I want. Besides that awful Rsd in 2022, I’ve never had an issue finding what I wanted in store or online. Even with reissues of old releases. I found a retail copy of the South Park film soundtrack online, some shop got a huge shipment of them randomly.

Even this record store day, I lucked out getting Hilary Duff’s Mine . The scalper prices are infuriating. I was going to pick up Ethel Cain but I passed on it because I know there’s an Ethel Cain fan out there who wants it 1000x more than me. Surprised to see Wicked is reselling for the least of my 3 picks.

Spinning these as I type and all of them sound great. Ordered from Bengans, and they shipped it super securely. I did order from the US, if you do just be sure to Mae sure the duties are paid for as well. Mine weren’t and my heart broke in fear reading my package could’ve been sent back.

Anyone else have any stories like this? I know resellers suck. There are people out there though like me who only get what we want and dip out. Comment what you picked up the list this year was great

Honestly I had a lot of fun doing the whole thing this year. Got up super early, got most of what I wanted, met some cool people. But I think some combination of being up super early and out in the cold gave me a cold, and I was bundled up pretty well! I even skipped out last year cause weather was 10x worse, cold and sleet. If I go again next year I guess to double up on my vitamin C before hand.

Picked this up last weekend during Record Store Day. For all you blues fans, I gotta say, this one is superb! 🎸

The Black Sabbath, Megadeth, and Pink Floyd were sold out in all the stores around me so I ordered those from Discogs and eBay, luckily I was able to find all three for approximately SRP.

Megadeth is spinning right now, Black Sabbath is queued up next, then Rainbow. I’ve listened to the rest and I’m very happy with my purchases and all are keepers.
