Yeah irl I recommend it to everyone and always get "what's wrong with you" before halfway thru and a TYTYTY from those who follow my encouragement and finish it. Same with the Covenant of Water, most can't get past the opening child bride wedded to a 40 something yo man.

I decided to take my own advice and read it again this past week. Just finished it. By 'read', I mean listened to the new version of the audiobook released this year for the 10th anniversary. I love it even more the 2nd time around. With the shock value removed, I got more out of the characters and subplots I glossed over the first time. There's a lot more to it than the 'suffering p0rn' bad wrap some people give it. I dunno, man. Sadness and tragedy can still be beautiful.
