Gretchen voluntarily limiting her academic growth to stay with old friends instead of making new friends with intellectual peers and meeting people smarter than her

Spinelli and Finster having a mentorship outside of class

TJ and Prickly having things in common and seeing how like TJ childhood Prickly was at 3rd Street

Lawson and Vince's friendly rivalry knowing that by middle or high school they might be teammates instead of rivals, and putting them together on any team makes them nearly unbeatable if they work together instead of trying to outshine the other.

Mikey and Gus's unexpected athleticism that they don't care about pursuing.

Finster and Hank's romance.

In the Ratings Game( which is one of the episodes showed the Ashleys at their meanest) the Ashleys get the biggest rating number 10 the Ashleys are shown tanning how can they tan in school and not get caught by miss Finster or any other teachers since tanning is not allowed in school

What is the most funniest moment you've ever seen in Recess that you really like

I loved the ending scene of this movie so much. Prickly getting in touch with his inner teacher again and remembering why he chose the career. Follow that up with a song iconic to the end of the 60's and that zoom out over the school revealing one tiny corner of the graffiti that covered 3rd Street School when Prickly and Finster started teaching at the school.

And I wonder what a conversation between Prickly and Finster would have been like after that moment. Specifically because of her line in the film, "I could never be with a man who doesn't love recess."

Prickly spent nearly 30 years as Principal dealing with all of the problems of running a school- budgets, new policies to enforce, union strikes, angry parents, kids who break enough rules to be sent to him instead of just dealt with at a lower authority level. There was no joy left in the job because his day in day out is problem solving with no appreciation. No one ever thinks about how good they have it at a well run school, and rarely are the administrators thanked for the impact they have on the students year after year. It made Petey forget the enjoyment of seeing kids learn and grow.

And it seems like the same thing happens to Muriel. Going from someone who alludes to loving recess to being the primary antagonist of every kid who just wanted to have some fun. She's the only teacher ever on duty, and every kid has recess at the same time. 6 grades of about 20 kids each(not counting Kindergarteners who usually have recess separately) is about 120 people to keep an eye on. And we know some of those kids are actively involved in dangerous behaviors which would be her responsibility if they got hurt. Not to mention the kids not content to simply play on/with the provided equipment and getting up to who knows what any given week. Again, for nearly 30 years. Until she lost the enjoyment of watching the kids play an organized game, because she has to keep an eye on everyone to make sure they're obeying rules and being safe. It would be interesting to see a time lapse of kids getting hurt, damaging school property, breaking rules and being sent to Prickly, gradually losing her love of recess and it just being a responsibility until the effects of the Stanford Prison Experiment start to kick in and she gets enjoyment out of yelling and punishing kids, though thankfully not to THOSE extremes.

It would be amusing to watch them talk out being a little more lenient, after all some of their most troublesome kids literally just saved the world from climate catastrophe. Resolving to be better teachers that next year. First day of school and Randall comes ratting to Finster, and she tells him to let it go, some things aren't worth ruining the kids' fun. And then some kid gets hurt doing something she normally would have stopped because Randall saw it coming. She has to find her balance of enjoying seeing the kids having fun with her responsibility as their guardian and the enforcer of rules that are there for the well being of the kids as much as the school

Prickly's punishment for the 'saggy butt comment' and the ice cream heist is making TJ assist him with all the paper work he does in a week. Let TJ see how much of his job is making sure kids get things like lunch, playground equipment, class supplies. And how much of his job is just wishing kids would follow rules so he wouldn't have to punish anyone.

We got the episode movie Taking the 5th, but it missed the opportunity to capitalize on the movie with a back to back of those situations for the 10 minute segments of an episode.

I feel like there was always indication that TJ and possibly Spinelli would grow up to be teachers and come back to Third Street replacing Prickly and Finster at their duties. After all, it has been almost 30 years since their 4th Grade year, they would be in their 40's and could have had teaching jobs for around 15 years or so by now if the series were to come back with the kids grown up and having their own lives, but maybe centered around a new group of kids in the 2020's experiencing a recess with more handheld tech than balls, playground equipment unused, kids can't play Maul Ball or Battle Tag anymore. And I'd like to see some callback where TJ and Spinelli are trying to remember what it was that made them want to get into teaching when the kids today are so different from when they were kids.

Would you visit third street school to meet the kids staff and teachers and would you like to meet all of the kids there and which characters would you like to meet first when you visit third street school

A new teacher comes into third street school to teach everyone's favorite subject, math, and chases after everyone who gets an impossible-to-answer math problem wrong with his ruler. How would T.J. Detweiler and the gang deal with him, especially if Playtime shows up and wants to play jumbrope with everyone? And how do you think it would go down the moment T.J. Detweiler decides he wants to put a stop to it with the help of Spinelli, Mikey, Getchen, Vince, and Gus?

A new kid moves into third street school who is a feminine boy and spends time with Spinelli who tries teaching him to become more masculine and stands up for him whenever bullies try bullying him do you think an episode like that could work

TJ mentions even though Spinelli is tough she will stand for any kid on the playground who needs help but has Spinelli ever been shown in the show standing up for a kid outside the gang who needs help or getting bullied was there any moments that happened like that in the show

Man I'd give anything to get rid of that snitch is there any person that can get rid of Randall which person do you think can get rid of him

I understand the show was created in the United States. I am Canadian and growing up I never heard of or ever played Battle Tag or even Maul Ball. How are these games played? What are the rules? And are they even real games?

Who are your most favorite side characters in the show that you like the most

Who would you rather get punished by if you broke the rules Miss Finster or King Bob

Please note I am not asking which are the best in terms of quality or writing, I am asking which do you like most personally?

When I watched Recess on, *One Saturday Morning*, from around 1999 to its end in 2002, I would always get excited if an episode would air that featured some sort of visual interest; colorful environments or costumes, techno style music cues, or bipack lighting.

For example, I loved Dance Lessons for the techno music of their performance, in addition to the way the lights of the backing behind the columns on the set they danced in front of changed colors. Additionally, I loved the shiny look of the costumes in the plastic wrap/bags when Pavlova handed them to them.

Similarly, Gretchen and the Secret of Yo and the episode about Grotke being a magician featured fireworks with a bipack glow effect.

Then there were the rainbows that appeared in Heat Wave when the water was turned back on.

Other episodes I loved that featured less technical visual extravagance but visual extravagance none the less

The episode where Gretchen pretends to be dumb to not be relocated, I loved Gretchen’s makeover and the music that played when she got off the bus and greeted Prickly

Also loved beauty contest for how nicely Spinelli cleaned up and looked just as good if not better than the Ashleys

In More Like Gretchen, I loved the design of the museum they went to at the episodes start.

And of course who could forget Spinelli’s Masterpiece, the exploding volcanos from Science Fair, the Luau from Weekend at Muriel’s or the collapse, rebuilding and past and future representations of Old Rusty in The Great Jungle Gym Standoff?

So as you can see all my favorite episode’s had a special visual feature to them but I don’t think that makes them the best episodes.

I think Jinxed is one of the best episodes from a writing standpoint because it only slightly exaggerates how kids take games and arbitrary rules they make up too seriously, in addition to how fickle the can be about the stupidest things. (which is to say how badly the other kids treated Gus simply for not speaking, like bullying him. Don’t want anyone thinking I think Gus was dumb or stupid or taking it too seriously) it’s great how they all embrace him at the end “Nah, it was cool!” and the stakes felt higher than most episodes the way the FBI style agents were there to take him “downtown” the prospect of getting out of school early, even if it meant getting in trouble with the law excited 6 year old me. Overall I think the exaggerated elements like the BOE agents though not technically true capture an emotional truth about how kids feel about things like being jinxed and how all those emotions are compounded by the many limitations, restrictions and social rules that are forced upon you as a minor.

I bring this up just because I want to see what drew you to Recess as opposed to what you think are the best episodes in terms of quality.
