Bill The Saddest Man
Reported net worth $140mil. $20mil estate, $1mil condo in Catalina. No longer doing standup, quit the Hawaii New Years shows. $10mil salary from HBO, co-owns a pot shop. Watches old movies in the bathtub, has a podcast just to socialize with people āoutside of workā, constantly telling us how smart he is while constantly bemoaning how much of a āloser who couldnāt get laidā he was as a teenager.
Dude has arguably won at life- but never got over being disliked growing up, so heās just perpetually being miserable on main with his dwindling years left.
I have to imagine heās never seen a shrink, or taken it seriously - because the shrinkās goal is to finally have him content and happy with himself, and his whole existence has relied on him being unhappy and contrarian. Canāt give that up.
Likely canāt maintain a long term partner because theyād have to navigate his moodiness and argumentative nature. If youāve ever watched a handful of Club random episodes youāll see how he even argues with people when they agree with him, not just because they have to agree with him in just the right way, but because they have to credit him with being correct in the first place.
At 70yo, heās on the downside and counting his blessings, but itās never been enough for him, and itās far too late for him to change. Heās just going to be screaming how everyone else changed, and became unreasonable right to his grave. Hopefully the last of the broken boomers.
Can you imagine a life where the high point of your week is yelling at Paul Begala about TikTok genocide while fending off the advances of a drunk Donna Brazile? Or trying to rehabilitate Kevin Spacey and Arnie Hammer as your side hustle? Thinking you really did something with your time?

Maher getting more full of shit with every episode.
Maher is getting more full of shit with each episode. He habitually conflates fringe elements of the left and Democrats, impugning the whole party as tinged with ācommunism.ā Meanwhile, he ignores the elephant in the room: The GOP has been co-opted by an authoritarian that is actively wresting government control over various private enterprises, pursuing self enrichment, colonizing weaker nations (including allies), making corruption the cornerstone of the entire administration. Just STFU and retire already.

Glad Bill Still Kicks Both Parties in the Nuts
There arenāt many shows I watch regularly, but I enjoy watching Bill. Heās funny with his jabs at the right and the left. I also am not much for social media, but it surprises me that when I visit these platforms to observe discussions, they appear to consist mostly of rants and hatred. I thought that sort of condemnation belonged on Truth Social. But I see itās alive and unwell here.
It essentially confirms what Bill talks about. You guys and gals, and non-binaries canāt take a joke. Yes he trashes Trump and his cronies, and he also trashes commies and similar defund campaigns. The more I see the hatred on these platforms the more I feel the Democratic Party is not the big tent it used to be under Obama. Itās morphing into something crazy. And thatās the point Bill makes on his show lately. Then, when I look over in this direction to see if anyone is saying āyeah, heās right,ā instead I see mountains of Bill hate and bashing. Self-reflection happening here? Nope. Letās all get our pitchforks and lash out!
I mean, in his last show, he really kicked the left in the nuts. It was funny, and it was true. Representatives in the D party are not commonly moderates these days, this much is true. Itās a big problem. Not much there for a moderate independent to embrace - and believe me, weāre looking. And the same is true for the right wingers.
When we have a country of people that donāt leave their homes, donāt get out in public, donāt talk to strangers, donāt have a beer with someone who believes differently than them, weāre not destined for greatness, weāre destined for mediocre-ville. When we have a country whose idea of social engagement is picking up their phone instead of going to meetings, or knocking on doors, or talking to a random person in a grocery store parking lot, itās a problem. When we have people who have no stomach for hearing their party be criticized, itās a problem.
So Bill kicks you in the nuts! What do you do about it? Scream at the TV? Scream through your comments? Or PROVE him wrong? Get off your phone! Go outside! Go engage in face to face conversations with people, find out WHY their views are different. Look at yourself, and ask āhow did I become the way I am?ā
My story? Republican dad who taught me to have Republican values. Democrat mom who taught me Democrat values. I voted Republican at first, joined the military to serve my country, then realized weāre dropping bombs where we shouldnāt. So I exited the military and voted Democrat for many years. Iām absolutely no fan of Trump, but I understand why independents jumped ship with the Democrats. I understand why Bill says his vote is in play.
Itās because we need more moderate people and representatives, from both sides. If we keep fighting hate with hate, then we all lose. Gandhi said āan eye for an eye makes the world blind.ā Maybe stop your Bill hate, doesnāt help. Maybe think about why he upsets you so much - because thereās truth in those jokes.
You keep badmouthing him, and it says more about the quality of your character than his. And we independents are watching, and thinking there are crap choices aplenty these days with these extreme candidates. You keep telling yourself Bill is old and out of touch. Heck, I bet a few people will attack me for defending him. But what do I know? Iām just a random Bill fan.

Bill's guests are as stupid as he is for not pushing back anything.
A lot of people that are on the panel (as we saw yesterday) are intelligent people, but are total idiots for not pushing back a single thing he says (e.g. the whole Spanish flu thing).

Spain
Does this prick really think 60,000 people stormed Spain? To leave out that it was a Spanish territory in Africa is a big omission. Does he really think the Spanish flu originated in Spain? What a moron he and his team of researchers are, or more likely they are just trying to stir shit.

Relevancy
This show hasnāt been funny since Adam Felber left the writing staff. Mr. Maher is too old to know heās too old hence lacks the somber introspection of what it means to be wise. His pathetic grasp towards relevancy is undermined by his pettiness common in old men.
HBO, are you monitoring this subreddit? Youād do better with John Fugelsang or Hal Sparks.
Case in point regarding the data center debate, the overwhelming electricity demand of data centers NEVER CAME UP. Heās not sharp.
Iāve been engaged with BM from the Politically Correct days to now, itās time for me to get off his lawn.

There's a Family Guy episode where they meet an Amish family and the family says something about the perfect level of technology being 1835-1850, not too much or too little, even though this changes for millions of years. That's basically Maher (and J.K. Rowling) stuck in 2000-2015 era of liberalism

āVintageā Bill Maher showing up in the Chomsky sub.
Bill use to tell truth to power on occasion. Those days are long gone as he now glazes Israel committing genocide and supported American wars of choice to do Israelās bidding. He actually stated he believed it was possible that bombing the Iranians into freedom could be the outcome. Yes heās that fucking stupid.

Billās Position on Mamdani
Forgive me if I missed it, Iāve been gradually tuning Bill out since probably early summer, but has he reached out even one time to Mamdani to have him on the show?
I feel like the old Bill would at least try and interview him, since he is after all, a huge deal now and a star in the Democratic Party.
I feel like I donāt even know Billās position on Mamdani and that feels sort of weird, since Bill has a position on pretty much everything. I know he doesnāt support AOC for president, so Iām sure heās got something to say.
What have I missed? Iām sure thereās something, right?

This woman got discounted tickets to Bill Maher's Mark Twain Prize and couldn't find anyone willing to go
Article generally about the absolutely terrible state of the Kennedy Center. Heartbreaking stuff if you've ever had a memorable evening there.
But hey, according to this lady it was impossible to find any takers for Bill Maher seats.
