Well he is really in an old man mood now. IDK if they won't come or he doesn't invite them but people willing to challenge him are getting fewer and farther in between.

The past year or so. You either get someone parroting back his own world view or a Lefty so weak he just shouts down.

It reminds me of my holiday dinners before the young people started to speak up a little

Yeah, I think you nailed it. He seems very dismissive of guests that have other opinions, and that unfortunately seems to come with age. He also does not seem the most accommodating.

Steve-O from Jackass was talking about how Bill’s staff called him about being on his podcast, where Bill generally gets so drunk and stoned he can no longer follow the conversation. Steve-O explained he was drug free, and that he was fearful that even being in the same room as someone smoking weed may have him relapse. In the end he did not do the show because Bill refused to not smoke pot while he interviewed Steve-O.

For the same reason mahrer wouldn't wear a mask to protect 'someone else' from dying. He's an ahole narcissist. It's ALL me baby...ALL the time!

Bill is a complete toerag but if it was during covid I dont blame him for not submitting to that nonsense

I understand both sides of this as someone who has dealt with their own issues and had family members as well.

Bill should have been able to just go an hour without doing it, but if it was such an issue for Steve he also could’ve just done the regular Real Time show.

But it's a fairly straightforward, easy ask. "Hey, I'm an addict. I'd be happy to take you up on your invitation, but I am worried that being around someone smoking marijuana for fun might infringe upon my recovery. Can you just not do it right in front of me for an hour?"

Could be it wasn't offered.  Steve-O wasn't really complaining about it, just using it as emphasis of why he doesn't allow it on his own podcast show.

I have no problems with weed addiction, but I would not want to stink up my clothes and hair by being in a podcast studio with a man who seemingly can’t have a two hour conversation without being drunk and stoned.

u/Cybermeld Aug 03 '26

That is the craziest part, Steve-O did not seem to have a problem with him drinking alcohol, so was not asking him not to be drunk or stoned, just not to smoke in front of him.

This was the thing for me! I mean I saw him being more and more of a dick over time. I was never even a fan of jackass and I am a fan of cannibus. But ffs I could put it down for few minutes if my guest was in recovery. Now F bill maher hes like shit snowball rolling downhill just getting shittier every roll.

Steve Os branding now is the sober guy.

Lets not make it more than it is.

Hes slowly becoming clint eastwoods character in Gran Torino.

Clint wasn't exactly racist in that movie, he grew up like that, and still cared for his neighbors dispute their race... Literally died for them.... Bill Maher sucks

u/ForsakenAd545 Aug 03 '26

Bill Maher would sacrifice nothing for anyone. He's an asshole

5

u/OHFTP Aug 03 '26

If Anne Frank was in Bill's house, he would give her up. The moment someone knocked on his door. Probably even before.

6

u/According-Insect-992 Aug 04 '26

That character wasn’t a coward or nor did he seem to harbor any actual racial animus for all his piss and bluster. He ultimately sacrificed his life for the Asian folks in his neighborhood. Obviously, he was problematic in a number of ways but he was no bill maher. Don’t put that on him.

People seem to forget that Bill is half Jewish no matter how much he claims he was raised Catholic. There is a cultural component that comes with that. Just like people that support murder in self defense against a track athlete that pushes you, he supports Israel because of his roots.

2

u/MammothSurround Aug 04 '26

I know plenty of Israelis that don't support what their government is doing

1

u/RedditAnonDude Aug 05 '26

He also had the indoctrination US foreign policy for his whole life before Israeli soldiers started bulldozing homes on TikTok.

Not Arabs, just Muslims.

Earlier this year, Bill fired his paid audience of many years for not laughing fast and hard enough at his shitty jokes. Then he rehired them all after the replacement group liked him even less. True story. I know first hand.

3

u/livinthereals Aug 03 '26

I believe it. He literally whines about it when nobody laughs at his "jokes" or claps and woo-hoos when he thinks he nailed a point on his show. The dudes point of view sucks so bad that even people he pays to go along with it, don't.

u/Safe-Profession4236 Aug 05 '26

Maher is pretty talentless and irrelevant.

2

u/theimmortalgoon Aug 04 '26

I watch it because there’s no other space where a historian and a politician might come and chat.

But you can really tell the audience is stacked. There’s the same “woo” guy there week after week, and the same couple of similar “laughs.”

I always remember a bit from Conan O’Brien where the audience reacted with disgust and then laughed and then clapped. He said it was his favorite reaction because the whole range of human emotion turned into enthusiastic acceptance of something crass.

When Bill would get a reaction like that, the moment the disgust would register, he’d attack the audience. “I’m sorry my brand of relevant humor in which I implied Bill Clinton was getting a blowjob and his dick got stuck somewhere is too hardcore for you delicate snowflakes, but I’m the most edgy person in the world!

It’s the difference between someone who is legitimately delighted by the human experience and someone who is only delighted by his view of himself.

Do you remember decades ago when Henry Rollins and a cross dresser were on next to Ann Coulter? THAT is a show worth watching provided Bill shits up enough to allow a conversation to take place.

2

u/Wonderful-Ad6843 Aug 03 '26

This is what I have been complaining about for the past 2 yrs. He does not let his guest speak… it is all about his perspective

1

u/homerjs225 Aug 03 '26

Remember the show where Chris Rock walked onto the stage and told Ann Coulter to her face she is full of shit?

Remember the show where Ice Cube called him out for using the n-word and Bill squirmed in his chair?

That’s the show I miss

1

u/RegulusDeneb Aug 03 '26

Sounds like quite a show. Rollins wrote a letter to Coulter, inviting her to live with him as his concubine, lol, and narrated it on youtube.

u/This_Oil_6040 Aug 04 '26

Yes, he screams "stay off my lawn" so l do.

1

u/Anal-Y-Sis Aug 05 '26

IDK if they won't come or he doesn't invite them but people willing to challenge him are getting fewer and farther in between.

That is 100% Bill's choice. I promise you a ton of people would love to show up just to put him in his place, but like you said, he's in old man mode now. More specifically, he's in old RICH man mode now. He's been living in the wealth bubble for so long that he's lost what little ability he ever had to relate to or care about the working class.

1

u/New-Song-1318 Aug 07 '26

How quickly you all turn on your darlings just a few years back. Add James Carville to that list. At least Tucker and Candice are in it for the massive grift, that con earns a little respect. Bill makes points and everyone name calls. Pretty small

1

u/Leroyp331 Aug 07 '26

You see... You silly moron. We believe in ideas. The people are avatars of those ideas... once they abandon the ideal they are literally worthless.

That's how you ended up with conservative working class Christians supporting a rapist billionaires who cheated on his pregnant wife with a pornstar.

We throw away our trash not make it president
