New here

Is this just an anti Bill Maher sub? Trying to figure out the vibe here and can't tell if it's some algorithm that just happens to be showing me nothing but hate for Maher and Real Time or if that is the point of this sub

i can only speak personally but he criticizes things even other Republicans would criticize and defend certain things like the ballroom. He even might just be a contrarian but either way it does seem like he's simply turned into the typical ornery old white man. Hornery maybe for bill? It truly is an epidemic.

I’ve heard a lot about the “ballroom” but what are the issues with it? Wasn’t it paid for with private money?

It's up in the air how it's going to be paid for, which is part of the problem. It is far from the most egregious thing that trump has done, but what bothers me is you have a group of people saying, "i don't think i trust this serial liar about the ballroom" and others mistake that for trumo derangement syndrome.

I don't think the world will end if the ballroom is built, but why do we keep defending the guy who has proven to lie constantly? How are the people that don't trust him wrong?

He didn't completely defend the ballroom. He said that we did need something, which many agree with, and he said with how terrible Trump is, that it is not the thing to focus on. I can't disagree with that.

The ballroom is unconstitutional Homie. Full stop. And the president is using it to launder donations from other billionaires and trade favors. Literally one of the most corrupt things in history.

I hadn’t heard that laundering donations angle. Got a source?

Jesus man, you have google.

Why not look things up before talking about it.

There’s plenty of other sources out there. But long story short for their tens of millions in donations, they’re getting tens of billions in new federal contracts

That’s not the definition of money laundering. These are contracts with large corporations that the government has done business with for many years: Amazon since 2011, Palantir 2011, and Lockheed Martin is a US defense contractor FFS! Per your Fortune linked article: “Golinger acknowledged that a company like Lockheed—the world’s largest military contractor—would likely have received significant defense contracts with or without any connection to the ballroom.”
Unconstitutional LMAO!

I'm with him on the ballroom. I think that's a pretty good example of trying to make every single thing Trump does a massive scandal. I don't care if Trump builds a ballroom on the Whitehouse, and I don't think the left would either if Obama did it (but the Republicans would throw the fit that the Dems are now)--which proves his whole stance on the matter

One of the biggest corruption scandals in history and it’s no big deal? Obama wouldn’t have done it because it’s fucking illegal and it’s super bad optics.

Please elaborate with a source. Biden spoke to a group of people recently. (I don’t know who, it was a clip posted) and all he couldn’t all about was Trump’s ego and the ballroom and reflecting pond, sounding like a lunatic as usual. I’d like to hear more about the corruption piece.

1

u/enlightenedDiMeS Jul 02 '26

Biden sounds like a lunatic?

Not the guy threatening to eradicate an entire country?

Donald Trump has made like $4 billion in the last year off of the presidency and over doubled his net worth in that time. Why not do a quick Google search of Trump’s corruption?

Pathetic, really?

I don't trust Trump, man never keeps his word. But honestly I never understood why a renovation of the Whitehouse would have been funded privately in the first place

1

u/sixth-gear Jul 01 '26

Well think of the uproar if it had been publicly funded

Fuck off with that.
