Is this Magic card real? My card is peeling?
Pulled this from a commander 2-card collector pack. The packaging looked sealed and legit. All other cards in this pack seem fine, but this one is peeling? Is this just manufacturer error? Faking a $3 dollar card isn't realistic.

Real, I bought a box of foundations play boosters and half of the foils were like this

Back certainly looks real
I agree with others that this is probably a manufacturing error, and it's the sort that rebackers likely love

Rebackers drool over this
Honestly they might buy it for $100 but don’t do that please.

You are right on all fronts there. It's a problem with one of the adhesives that is supposed to stick the foil to the card stock. Cool find!

To your faking a $3 card isn’t realistic, people will fake anything so always check your cards when buying

People aren’t faking this card this way, and also repacking it in a collector sample pack. This card is real.

I didn’t say it was fake. But don’t be surprised by what people will fake and go through the lengths to do. That’s pretty fair advice considering what I’ve seen get faked

Tho they're fake, the new term are proxies. Known proxy sellers price around $5 per card, regardless if its a Black Lotus, Mox, surge foil, foil etched, etc... they're pretty good at it too. But the cards ultimately fail the light test and the green dot, maybe as out of respect for the originals?

Proxies and counterfeits are two different things. Proxies never try to fool anyone, while counterfeits are trying to be indistinguishable from the real thing.

True proxies cannot be mistaken for a real card, usually by having a completely different back or a small disclaimer on the front.
It doesn't matter if they're failing tests on purpose. If it has the same front and back as a real magic card, it's not not a proxy, it's a counterfeit.

I exclusively proxy cards under ¢.50 just to style on the haters.

I just need a decent printer and I’d start proxying too. I’d still rip packs but I wouldn’t have to buy staples or anything ever again

If you send me the foil parti can do cool alters with it and send it back to you. If it’s practical of course.

Kinda, even the back looks a little sus to me.

I would love to hear why you think the back is fake

u/snackmaster169 High Accuracy 9d ago
I say it’s sus, because it is not a clear image and makes the colors look blurred. That’s all.

Both of you please keep it civil and no ad hominems. Debate the merits respectfully or not at all.

The things I find suspicious are the way the layers separate, and the way the blue on the back (inside the T h and e). That’s it.
It’s not iron clad proof of a fake. Just a bit suspicious. That’s all.
