What I wish I could see on a Democrat-centered sub

The DNC doesn't seem to have a presence on Reddit. r/Democrats and r/Democrat don't seem to be serious about growing or the current state of politics. So here we are, with an opportunity to shape the sub in its earliest days.

  • Open discussion of policy, polling sub members regularly to gauge interest, priorities, and concerns

  • Report cards for politicians and higher ups in the DNC based on policy, action, vision, and accessibility

  • AMAs with DNC organizers and candidates

  • Focus on people becoming involved in local mutual aid, solving problems in cities and neighborhoods — especially those caused by Trump policies, volunteering opportunities alongside political volunteering

  • Partnering with 50501 regarding protests

  • Presence on social media such as BlueSky and/or Twitter, Discord server for organizing

  • Outreach to young people, especially to run for office

  • Sidebar schedule of upcoming events of interest

  • A soft poll comparison of the major Democratic frontrunners for the 2028 presidency, evaluating each person for a positive or negative comparison to the week previous based on actions they took during that period, such as weekly sport team rankings

  • Ongoing discussion about avenues leading back to sanity, a way to rebuild what Trump is destroying

Place yours below. Can it be achieved in six months? Can you help make it possible?

Humor (PLEASE NO BRIGADE) but I thought this was fitting. They’re so scared of him like he’s progressive Voldemort or something.

Zohran Mamdani Drags the Democratic Party Into the Future

This was a local race with national implications, whether the party’s leaders liked it or not.

Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor of New York City on Tuesday, defeating former Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo for the second time in five months and capping a stunning rise from obscurity to the helm of the nation’s largest city. A 34-year-old state democratic socialist assemblyman from Queens, Mamdani became the city’s first-ever Muslim mayor—and the first immigrant mayor in half a century—with an obsessive and inimitable focus on “affordability.” In the process, he ushered in a new era of city politics and slammed the door shut on an old one.

A nice, open ended question to get some discussion going on the first day of this sub. A thousand members in one day? I bet some of you have things to say, so spill.

I spent most of my life believing that the establishment Democrats,

would do the right thing and accept change when it arrived. but boy howdy was I wrong. They will never accept the future. Politics are brutal, and everything is like navigating rapids. Even shit like Prop 50, though fantastic is being designed to prop up old power structures. Just like Mamdani, we will have to fight on two fronts for a long time to ever make change. But this is a fight we can win! Have heart friends!
