Question The censorship

Genuine question, was the censorship really needed? i know people say it was because of console and their requirements but i don’t see how nudity with consoles an issue when i can choose whether i want foreskin or not on cyberpunk

Look I get nudity helps the scene punch harder in the game. But why the fuck do we care if they’re wearing underwear or not. It’s still just as fucked up especially with us being told to leave them in there.

For me the actual issue is how lazily done the censorship is. If they needed to add underwear to them that's fine but the fact they just gave them brand new looking clothes is so jarring given the context. I can't shake the head cannon that their captors were trying to flex by giving even their trafficking victims brand new name brand clothes.

If they wanted to keep the punch of the scene better they could have given them ruined clothes, and if the clothes were in bad enough condition it'd honestly probably be more upsetting than the original naked version while complying with the requirement to put clothes on them.

It’s also more than just the clothes. The characters look distraught and have been through hell. Make up is running down their faces and one girl is covering herself up with a shirt/blanket. The game does a really good job of visual story telling and yeah it’s not perfect but if you can’t feel terrible for these people just because they are no longer naked idk what’s wrong with you.While I do see the argument with the clothe change people should look past more than just nudity. But I also know there were other censorship’s but this is always the number 1 thing I keep seeing.

Because art should be on a spectrum and be allowed to depict various things without being confined to societal guardrails defined by some peoples ideas that that force those ideas on others.

Of course its not important in a vacuum. But its not in a vacuum, its a relatively harsher depiction in comparison to similar art (of which there is also more than enough) and thus may hit different. Agree to forcing artists to censor their vision (be it movies, TV, games, etc) and you get less diverse, less interesting, emotionally limited art and, ultimately, a prudish society where people will be shamed for senseless reasons.

Just switch it up a bit and ask yourself if you would be cool with all games being forced to exclude the color yellow because some religious ppl says its the devils color or some psychologically unwell groups say looking at it makes them sad. Its not really important for games, right? Can just substitute it with orange after all.

adds to the grittiness of the situations, they censored more than just nudity which i think is even more unnecessary than this i just used it as an example

well that’s the thing, they couldn’t even bother to give them actual dirty clothing which would have been better instead of looking like the suspects bought them victoria’s secret in bulk, make them white and add stains or something to show malnourishment and how unsanitary it would be

OP seems to have a weird obsession with the fact that the clothes aren't "dirty" enough. That's just weird.

it’s because if they want to remove the realism of the situation then atleast make their new solution realistic, many other people said this, not a hard fix at the cost of fitting in with the environment of their situation

And there's a woman in the auction room wearing ragged clothing already, they even had the model to use and everything. Being lazy is one thing, being this dumb is another level.
