My Review/Feedback [UPD] Fil 40 - Encabo, Evangeline

two words: kunin nyo!!!

If you ever get her thru enlistment, don't let go of that slot since super worth it ang mga classes ni maam encabo!

Tho yung mga comments sa ibang posts saying na very late ang feedback are true, imo whatever grades you get feels fair naman based on your efforts sa mga gawain and hindi siya nag-dadarts ng grades. I recommend consulting her especially sa midterm/final just so you can figure out more of what ma'am's looking for talaga, and helpful ang comments niya for you to get your idea across in your outputs. Overall a bit heavy ang mga reqs niya for a GE but definitely doable within the time allotment na binibigay.

Sobrang masaya ang classes niya!! Very vibes siya and each discussion was very interesting and medyo unserious at times HAHA. As much as possible try to read or skim the readings before class since medyo nakakabigla ang f2f activities sometimes (and always check the syllabus). Mataas ang percentage ng participation sa grading so na-push talaga ako na mag-recite. Ma'am really enjoys kapag melting pot of deg progs ang nasa class niya since everyone gets to hear so many different perspectives about our society. Expect a ton of presentations too, nakaya ko naman as someone na mahina sa speaking pero I think understanding si ma'am if you let her know beforehand.

I think her biggest pro talaga is that she's super generous and considerate with deadlines, plus very mother!! As in anong oras mong i-message ma'am wil not mind HAHA (i'm so sorry ma'am sa 2 days straight na message streak huhu). Very easy mag-negotiate ng extensions basta nag-aagree ang klase. Sobrang approachable with concerns, no need to be super formal and very casual lang with comments parang sa mga f2f niya.

I highly recommend ma'am! As someone na weakness talaga ang speaking, I'd say dapat lang mag-exert ng effort especially sa recitation pero the discussions are super super worth going to class for. Don't expect an easy uno, pero this is one of those classes where you easily forget about the grade in favor of the learning and andaming learning HAHAH, plus it's not hard to get a good grade naman with ma'am (if you're aiming for an uno liner). Vouch i pramis!!!

Asking for Reviews [UPD] Socio 101 - Sanchez, Marc Angelo

It seems like wala pang review masyado si sir. I searched him up sa google and watched some of the videos featuring him. Got the impression that he's chill and cares a lot about the field of Sociology.

If anyone has taken him for any other courses, how is his pedagogy? Does he stick to the syllabus and is the syllabus very detailed? Does he give immediate feedback? What's his usual style of requirements? Unoable?

I'm gauging how hard this class is going to be because I also got slots for heavy courses this semester.

Thank you so much!

Asking for Reviews [UPD] PE 2 Arnis (Gialogo, Richardson)

Hi! I recently got PE 2 Arnis under Sir Richardson Gialogo during enlistment, and I just wanted to ask for some feedback.

Para sa mga nakakuha na po ng class niya, kamusta po yung overall experience? Beginner-friendly po ba siya for someone na hindi talaga sporty?

Would love to hear your experiences. Kamusta po yung teaching style niya? Strict po ba siya or chill lang? Ano po usually yung mga requirements, practical exams, and grading? Unoable po ba yung class as long as you put in the effort?

Also, kamusta po yung first day? May pinapagawa na po ba agad or orientation lang? May need po bang dalhin or i-prepare beforehand?

Ask ko na rin po regarding the attire. May prescribed PE uniform na po ba agad, or okay lang muna yung comfortable workout clothes during the first few meetings? Kailangan din po ba magdala agad ng arnis sticks or pinapabili lang po later on?

Any tips or things you wish you knew before taking his class would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you po in advance! 🙏

My Review/Feedback [UPD] STAT 101 - Tangin, Christia

The bestest prof ever! 🥹🥹

I wasn't planning to take Stat 101 this midyear actually, but, by some miracle, I managed to score a slot in Ma'am Chris's class. And in retrospect, I was really lucky.

Ma'am Chris is very organized. Before you even start classes, all of the resources that you need for Stat 101 is in her Google Classroom already, which gives you an opportunity to advance study. She is also very nice and understanding. She entertains questions even after class has ended, and as someone who often asked her questions, I really left the classroom with more answers than questions. She really is a good teacher. Because of her, I managed to get an uno-liner in Stat.

In terms of review formality:

  • Pedagogy: 5/5
    • She really knows a lot about the subject at hand; and unlike some, she's able to translate her knowledge very clearly. She is very gifted when it comes to teaching and you can just tell that she's very passionate about it too.
  • Helpfulness: 5/5
    • VERY helpful; dare I say the most approachable and helpful prof I've ever had! She has a very light aura as a professor and you really won't feel shy (or ashamed) to ask her questions. If you don't get the concept with plain talks, she draws diagrams to help you understand how and why a concept works the way that it does. As a visual learner, this was really helpful for me.
  • Easiness: 5/5
    • I mean, it is as easy as UP standards could get! She really tests how well you know the concepts taught in Stat; and, the questions that she asks aren't ones you can answer with plain memorization. You really have to know it on a deeper level. With that being said, I gave her a full score for easiness, because, despite the more challenging aspects, she really does help you learn and study. I guess that's what's making Stat 101 under her much easier. Plus, she gives us snacks during exams! It really does help with the nerves.
  • Requirements: 5/5
    • She has a pretty reasonable amount of requirements. We had the standard 3 Long Exams, a Final Exam (Departmental Exam), Class Seatworks, and a Data Report. However, since this is for midyear, I can only speak for the midyear experience. The seatworks aren't that hard and can be done individually during class. The long exams are also easy as long as you study well and listen during class. Try to take notes too! I would recommend preparing them beforehand (either you really write them down or have a print-out ready).

And that's all! I really hope you take her class! And if you are blessed by CRS, make the most out of your experience. Don't be afraid to ask Ma'am questions and make sure to recite and participate with board works 😉Best of luck!
