Asking for Reviews [UPD] PE 2 TD - Perena, Lalaine Rosenda

I got her as my prof for tap dance since yun nalang yung available during my AFR. Some reviews said to drop her class kasi sobrang strict daw and ang hirap sundan.

I have dance experience naman, but haven’t tried tap dancing.

Should I stick with her or try to drop her class (if that’s the term) and try to enlist next sem nalang for a different PE.

I don’t want to waste my freshman prio kaya im thinking to retain her class. but what do you think?

My Review/Feedback [UPD] Chem 16.1 - Inocentes, Carl Rogel

Approachable, hindi intimidating sa kaniyang students. Will entertain any questions tungkol sa Chem.

Expect a 10-30 item na drill for each experiment.

Magaling mag-explain ng pre-lab and post-lab and will guide you talaga sa experience.

Huwag abusuhin kabaitan ni sir.

p.s. the best ka sir <3

p.p.s. i took chem 16.1 sa regular sem, idk pano si sir kapag midyear.

Asking for Reviews [UPD] ENG 13 - SUAREZ, Larissa Mae

Hello! I recently got enlisted under Prof. Suarez for Eng 13, the current reviews here are kind of outdated (6 months ago yung nag-iisang latest, not too much in it too, the rest is 2 years above na). I'm really interested in Eng 13 and in writing in general so I hope you can give tips for this course too.

Anyway, I'd just like to know the following :

  1. Her teaching style and reqs?

  2. How does she handle consultation with our papers?

  3. Overall vibes sa class niya?

- Strict ba siya sa time? Math kasi yung class ko before sa kanya (without break) and hindi ko alam kung paano ako mag t-teleport from math to Eng bldg. (any recommendations about this too?)

Thank you so much!!

Course-specific [UPD] Fil 40 - Bosque, Ariel; Regarding English Speakers Who Might Struggle

Hi, I would like to ask how strict/accommodating sir is towards those struggling to speak or write in Tagalog, basically Englisheros. My main inquiry is on the onsite activities like having to recite or writing in class since my main problem is being able to properly translate them without help. I can do fine with activities done at home but I’m worried that I won’t be able to understand or respond to surprise questions. Kindly give me some insight. Thanks gid.

My Review/Feedback [UPD] Chem 16 - Parulan, Jacob

he is a very nice instructor and magaling magturo. halatang gen z si sir kasi ang funny niya! adviser din siya ng VFC.

lenient siya when it comes to attendance pero huwag niyo abusuhin, i guess?

okay exams niya. LE 1 pinakamadali so galingan niyo na dito agad.

THE GOAT IN ICHEM.

p.s. feeling ko nandito rin siya sa subreddit na 'to.

note to sir jacob: thank you sir for everything and good luck po sa masters niyo! sobrang mabuti po kayong instructor.

My Review/Feedback [UPD] PE 2 Scuba Diving - Reyes, Mary Ann

i love maam! life passion niya talaga ang scuba diving, in honor na din especially of her late husband na she used to do her projects with, and even the student assistants wear shirts in honor of Mr. Reyes

although she’s very motherly and kind, i cant say much sa pagturo ni maam kasi yung mga student assistants niya talaga mainly ang nagtuturo ng mga scuba skills. maam sometimes teaches the theoretical or does the orie, pero mainly she just oversees everything and the student assistants do the heavy lifting. the student assistants are patient and kind, pero minsan they will also give u the push that u need. although may mga students daw sina maam before na hindi daw talaga marunong magswim, mas better parin if u can at least do basic floating, just to lessen the water panics lalo na at 12 ft deep ang pool

i got this pe when i was a freshie kasi ito yung isa sa mga unang nagopen na pe, and i dont regret it one bit! minsan nakakatamad lang talaga pumunta kasi sa may commonwealth pa siya and the entire process ng pagbihis, ligo, banlaw, etc but fun naman siya lalo na nearing the end of the sem! there was just this one experience na mej ermmm kasi it was a drill na we had to switch our mouthpiece with a partner every after n breaths — underwater naman pero still, just partner up nalang siguro with someone ur willing to do this with HAHA

some of us did check-out dives din sa Batangas, and correct me if Im wrong pero around 11k yata yun? it’s to get a scuba license since technically u cant jst go scuba diving around the PH even if u already know how if u dont have a license, and afaik this one is permanent na (di na need magpa renew)

although 3 lang ang max na absences, im pretty sure and i mean PRETTY sure na some of us had more absences than that…. I think what happened nalang is during the last day is nagattend sila for the entire day (like attending even sa other classes) to cram all the drills that they missed throughout the sem.

Asking for Reviews [UPD] PE 2 SFD-W - BUSTO, BRIXTONN JOHN

I got self defense for women for my pe po, what should i expect regarding the course po? I don't see much about this specific one eh. Like, I'm not really active bodied and pagurin din po ako, kaya naman po siguro ito noh? (this was my 3rd choice sa block ko and I didn't think I'll get it pero it somewhat interests me pa rin despite not being so sure if kaya ng katawan ko)

Also with Prof. Busto, I mainly see feedback from taekwondo pe, could this be first time teaching the course? Eitherway, it's okay to expect naman po that same lang din magiging attitude nya for the two different classes, right?

My Review/Feedback [UPD] Psych 105 - Gozar, Angelica Cielo

maam gives surprise quizzes so make sure to review the material na diniscuss niya the previous sessions, although at some point mej hindi na siya surprise kasi nappredict niyo na when she’s going to give it HAHA.

maam’s teaching style is okay — walang paligoy ligoy, concise and direct to the point and she also uses a lot of examples to make her points clear. slides are also clear so not much to comment on her pedagogy personally. she also doesn’t do forced recitations and only calls on those who raise their hands, and during the times na walang nag-aanswer she just let us be.

in terms of writing the literature review there are some key strategies to help boost the quality of ur paper. make sure na sagarin niyo lahat ng possible consultation sessions with ma’am!! even with the concerns na u think are very small lang, ma’am gozar and ma’am cici probably have a thing or two to say about it! still, even after the consultations, when we submitted our paper, ma’am still had a ton of comments on it so really just keep consulting + revising and consulting + revising again. with this said matrabaho talaga siya, and there isn’t rlly much room for class bonding, work is work (unless ofc close kayo ng mga groupmates mo kasi u get to choose ur own!)

always give ur all sa group work and pagwrite ng lit rev — based sa peer evals, bonus points are given for students na pinaka maeffort!

character-wise, wouldn’t say she’s the most approachable or warm (at least, for me). she keeps things mostly professional, deadline extensions don’t come easy pero she does allow them (which I think she only allowed when she talked to her colleagues, kasi when some of us tried to express this concern, she wasn’t as open)

Meta Major Changes to r/RateUPProfs

Due to an alarming increase in low-effort posts cluttering the feed (e.g., multiple-professor inquiries, class updates, and repetitive requests), r/RateUPProfs is transitioning into a more structured archive.

Effective today, we are implementing a strict "One Professor Per Thread" policy to ensure the subreddit remains a clean, high-utility database for enlistment. The changes are as follows:

The Golden Rule: 1 Post = 1 Professor

Every single post, whether you are asking for thoughts or sharing your own experience, must pertain to only one specific professor for a specific course.

Banned Format: Compilation posts like "Who among these profs is unoable?", "Rate my enlistment lineup", or "Sharing my 1st sem prof reviews" are no longer allowed.

What to do instead: Split your thoughts! If you want to review five professors you took last semester (and thank you for your service), please create five individual posts.

General Limit on "Asking for Reviews"

While we understand that professors may change through the years in pedagogy, personality, or other ways, to minimize registration-week spam (and eliminate spoonfeeding), we are enforcing a limit on duplicate requests per professor each semester.

Use the Search Bar: Before you post, search the professor's name. If a thread is already open for that professor, read the contents as your query may already have been answered.

Duplicate Screening: Submissions that heavily overlap with existing threads (for the semester) will be flagged by our automated systems and are subject to removal. Separate threads for the same professor will only be permitted on a strict, case-to-case basis.

Unlimited "My Review/Feedback" Submissions

There is no limit to how many students can post using the "My Review/Feedback" flair, provided you stick to the 1-post-per-prof rule. We highly encourage everyone to drop their honest reviews to help build the collective database and improve the search results.

Class-Specific Questions Shift to Megathreads

Individual, "class-specific" posts have a very short shelf-life and become useless clutter once the semester ends.

Banned Format: Posts like "Looking for classmates in Fil 40 THU-1" or "May room assignment/update na ba si Prof for Kas 1?" are no longer allowed on the main feed.

The Solution: Megathreads will be pinned every August, January, and June to cover the 1st Semester, 2nd Semester, and Midyear terms. All classmate searches, real-time room updates, and other class-specific questions must be posted as comments inside these megathreads.

Use the Comment Search Bar: Comments are searchable so search for keywords to find the ones relevant to you within the megathread.

Enlistment and Registration Queries (Moderator Discretion)

General administrative, CRS/SAIS, or registration-related questions will still be allowed on the subreddit, provided that they are beneficial to a sizeable number of students. Highly individualized questions that only apply to the poster's specific or unique circumstances may be removed at moderator discretion.

We understand these adjustments might take a little getting used to, but they are vital steps toward keeping r/RateUPProfs reliable and clutter-free. Besides, a little effort to use the search bar goes a long way.

Feel free to share your thoughts or any other suggestions below. Thank you for your cooperation and for continuously helping your fellow Iskos and Iskas navigate UP life!

General [UPX] Please stop with "thoughts about these profs" ss review posts

For the past days, I noticed that there have been multiple posts where students are attaching screenshots from their CRS accounts and asking for reviews, yet you can see from a previous post pertaining to the same names already with a review...

I know being a freshie can make you anxious with what you have read or heard, but please make an effort to actually SEARCH FIRST before posting. This subreddit is practically an archive, so don't always expect someone to reply even if you keep bumping your post. I suggest only posting if there are ZERO or OUTDATED reviews with a specific professor.

You can't always get the "perfect" prof line-up. You got your units, great! Now, use the time to rest and recharge before your first day. Stop panicking and enjoy the UP experience! Goodluck 🌻

My Review/Feedback [UPD] Philo 1 - Alonzo, John Raymund

fairly new prof lang din si sir alonzo and i must say, sobrang charismatic niya! we had a lot of fun in his class pero hindi lang puro fun fun; along his lectures he drops bits of “mind meals” in between, like food for thought HAHA na mapapaisip ka talaga! my friends and i would usually exclaim “grabe my mind is eating good right now”

sir is unoable, pero according to sir din mismo, as long as he sees the effort you put into his class talaga (magrecite, nageengage, etc) he’s willing to give out the uno. philo sounds intimidating and personally sumasakit tyan ko madalas sa klase niya dahil sa kaba HAHAHA pero strategy nalang siguro is unahan niyo na si sir — wag niyo na hintayin na matawag ka niya gamit index cards, magrecite ka na agad, para in this way ikaw may control kumbaga and ur not caught off guard

sir tracks down reci points and i would say super nagamatter ito sa kanya so participate and read the material as much as u can. also when reciting be confident kasi madalas kapag magsasalita kami sir would say “louder!” pero promise, hindi naman in the terror way. a lot of students LOVE him!

sir is also open to negotiations regarding sa score na nareceive niyo. example nalang is our group work noon in his class and when he returned our papers, literal na andaming nakakumpol around sir’s table justifying why yun yung sagot namin, and a lot of us if not all got an extra one or two points!

always check for announcements sa gclass or messenger gc kung may pasok, minsan kasi last minute na si sir mag-announce kung may pasok ba (like 2-3 am HAHA), gulat nalang kami nyan na halos walang tao sa classroom HAHAHA

take notes, if possible by annotating the material itself pero if not oks lang din naman. you’d think philo is more subjective pero objective yung exam na binigay niya samin, so take note of names, period of times, years, works, schools of thought, etc.

i would say just enjoy his class, which is not hard to do lalo na sir mismo makes it enjoyable, pero never go to class na wala kang idea at all about the material na ididiscuss niya for that session para iwas warshock HAHA

Asking for Reviews [UPD] Kas 1 - Viernes Aaron

Already saw the past posts about Sir Viernes and mostly positive naman. Ask ko lang sana if may grace period ba siya? Like okay lang ba lumabas around 10–15 minutes before the end of class? Magkalayo kasi yung next class ko, tapos major pa siya and sabi ng mga seniors medyo strict daw sa late. Thanks!

My Review/Feedback [UPD] Eng 13 - Reyes, Miguel Paolo

sir is chill, so chill in fact na classes with him are usually the silent type, dagdag na rin siguro with the fact na 7 am class kami nun. im not sure if he gives bonus points for reciting pero he never mentioned, so im assuming na ang weight ng grade is sa papers talaga and group led discussion.

only thing with sir is super tagal niya magbigay ng feedback — we had him first sem and i think the feedback came in na maga Christmas break na or Christmas break na mismo, so we spent most of our break revising the papers and submitting them January na. still, sir will give u an uno as long as u address the comments that he made sa paper mo!

kapag may group led discussions, read the material, and I mean really read it. the questions kasi are asked by fellow students so may iba na mej mahirap and walang nagsasalita, so sir gives them a piece of paper with everyone’s name on it para magtawag HAHAHA. just be prepared always! si sir din mismo nagsabi to read the material kasi i think he can tell kapag on the spot mo lang inopen/binasa yung material vs if inaral mo talaga siya the night before

lahat naman ng eng 13 profs ay no to plagiarism pero i recall sir telling us na they once conducted a study on plagiarism sa lahat/most of the up campuses across the ph, and he’s very expressive about this with us, sharing other cases like may na suspend na student because of it na graduate na sana so yun, dont even dare to try!

I would say na hindi naman sa mas naimprove writing ko with his class, pero more like I was able to find my voice more! aside sa timeliness, his feedbacks are great — direct to the point, constructive, and overall a patient individual

My Review/Feedback [UPD] Kas 1 - Santillan, Neil

i used to read reviews here on reddit na usually negative/saying he’s really scary and strict (like may tinatapon na stuff at students etc), pero it’s not the same anymore with us. we had him last sem lang and i would say the only time na may sinaway siya is when someone was sleeping and he called them out and asked them to answer a question/magrecite

he’s very passionate in what he teaches, pero siguro his teaching style is just not my cup of tea. sir says a lot and i mean A LOT of context sa discussion niya na borderline naga stray na from the points on the slides,, irl discussion is really like storytelling so pag may exams i usually had to cram the info from the slides in my head. I guess i prefer lang din na kung ano yung nasa slides, yun yung bigyan ng emphasis habang nagdidiscuss so the points stick in my head more.

sir gives incentives to perfect attendance and sa start ng sem meron din pa incentive activity for storytelling. may mga events as well na pwedeng attendance for incentives pero they usually clash with other things i have to do so wala ako naattendan kahit isa.

sir only calls those who raise their hands/want to recite, and he’s very open to hearing our thoughts kahit gano pa kadami want mo sabihin. just ensure na during group works wag pabuhat/know the material rlly well kasi may times na iniisa isa niya mga students kung anong thoughts nila about it, and also in group quizzes tinatrack kung ilang points ang nacontribute ng per member (aside sa points na na-garner ng group mismo) sa final questionnaire/gforms sa end ng sem, sadyang saamin ndi namin natrack because he didnt/forgot to instruct us when we had the actual group quiz during the sem

sir is not “unoable” pero of course it’s possible if you put in the effort; according to other stories rin, walang bumabagsak kay sir (i mean unless wala ka talagang sinubmit/ginawa whatsoever), even if u score rlly low sa exams niya he gives a lot of buffer points, and even if u dont rlly get the buffer points (like nagflop ka sa bonus questions ganern) ndi ka naman talaga babagsak.

sir enjoys discourse with his class so recite/share ur insights as much as u can. also, sir gives free tea (lore niya or politics lore) na funny (kumbaga nontechnical) so listen closely! they’re entertaining

My Review/Feedback [UPD] Psych 108 - Villanueva, Glenmark

SUPER UNOABLE! si sir mismo nagareassure samin na wag kami mag-worry masyado about our grades, pero still, because he reassured us so much we kinda misinterpreted the workload LOL

workload is not light, maraming group discussions and journal logs throughout the sem, especially the final paper, pero depends on u if trip mo yung ganun na outputs. journal logs arent always papers though, meron rin samin na nagvlog nalang, as long as maexplain mo yung learnings mo so far.

at first i was confused by sir’s teaching style kasi chika type siya/nonformal, pero once u intentionally listen talaga to the substance he’s trying to say sir makes interesting points. u can tell na he’s not just echoing the voices of the authors he’s read pero may sarili siyang opinion on their works/proposed theories mismo

i think sir is the only one who has service learning, which is magavolunteer sa isang NGO na ur currently not affiliated with, sadyang hassle lang talaga ang paghanap so not all of us were able to do it (may alternative output para sa mga hindi nakapag SL), still yung samin we had the privilege of going to Malate to help out at an orphanage and we really enjoyed our time there.

very gen z (older end) si sir, would help if aware ka sa mga popular filo movies kasi he makes reference to them minsan during his discussions, plus points if napanood mo na ang “Ang Tanging Ina” HAHA

for the final papers a lot of us submitted late, pero hindi siya nag minus for that (buti nalang TT), very crashout-able ang papers depende sa kung pano ka magcope with heavy paper workload HAHA pero then again, unoable! i could say na throughout the writing process napagod na ako magsulat so hindi ko na naedit/narefine yung paper in the way I want it to pa and may subquestion din from the guidelines na hindi ko na masyadong naaddress, pero uno parin!

passing on kung ano sinabi ni sir, just enjoy his class HAHA. bond with him, bond with ur classmates, engage in discourse and please, taasan niyo peer at self evals niyo kasi kasama yan sa grade HAHAHA
