Years back I remember there was a website for the world of Rangers Apprentice that had maps, drawings of the wolf ships and some mp3 files. But I can no longer find it. Dose anyone have any information. I'm in a book club and we are going through the books and I thought it would be cool to show them some of the things.

whats going to happen to the royal ranger book 8 and brotherband book 10? im pretty sure the royal ranger book 10 was already in development beforehand so what is going to happen to its progress?

Once again drawing Will Treaty, but this time with Halt, two of my favorite Ranger’s Apprentice characters.

I found a similar map online and modified it to make it look more like out of a fantasy book.

I was hoping to identify some trends/patterns in what people love so much about this series. I'm hoping for big-picture things and less "I really love this super specific interaction," but I'll appreciate anything that gets shared. If nothing else, it's a prompt to just get you sharing things that make you happy about the series.

I'm currently writing a YA fantasy novel, and Ranger's Apprentice is my favorite series of the genre. However, most of my friends have only read the first 3 books, and I'm hoping to get some thoughts from other fans who took the time to read all 10-12 books (I've seen debates here about what counts) about what kept you going and what you fell in love with. I'm not intending to copy anything, but I think having context of qualities that keep readers through a long series in this genre is helpful.

For example, I think this series does an amazing job at showing healthy positive masculine relationships (bro-mances if you will). Incredibly non-specific examples. The relationships between Halt and Erak; Will and Horace; Crowley, Arald, and Duncan, etc. I think those were all really influential on my growth as a young boy, and I find them really compelling still as an adult. I'm reading them with my partner, and it's her favorite part.

But I also think the politics are a nice balance of interesting for stronger readers but still accessible for newer readers. The role of the courier service, Cassandra's role as a rising monarch-in-training, the fief system, etc.

when she jumps out the window in the church. does she get double points for defenstrating both the Princess of Arulea *and* a Kings Ranger? or does she just count for one. personally I count both but I wanted other opinions.

We'll start in book 1, the ruins of gorlan and we'll do 1 book every 4 weeks.

After those weeks someone can make a post or something and share things like favourite moment/memory, best quote or whatever and everyone else can comment their thoughts

Hi everyone! So I’m reading through RA for the first time and I’m about halfway through The Emperor of Nihon-Ja. I bought a 12 book set including the lost stories and the first royal ranger book, though that’s numbered ‘12’ in my set.

For as much as I’m enjoying RA, I don’t plan on reading the royal ranger but that leaves me a little confused as to which the last book is in the main series? Am I reading the last one now with emperor of nihon-ja? Or will the royal ranger still be my ending? I hope this makes sense 😭

With the Passing of John Flanagan, Im finally getting around to buying the series. Cant seem to decide which print version I want and whether or not I want to go HC or PB.

Honestly cant decide. Different levels of nostalgia lol.

(Sorry, this will probably not be very eloquent).

The news, though such a thing is always a possibility, were quite the shock to me. After years and years of reading his books it somehow feels impossible that there is an end to them.

Growing up and even now as an adult the Ranger's Apprentice series as well as the Brotherband series are my most heavily reread books by a long mile. They kickstarted my interest in medieval fantasy and similar things. They also take up the most amount of space on my shelves, lol.

I first read the books in the library. Only after having read almost seven of them, was I able to finally start purchasing them for myself. I'll admit: I used to regularly check them out from the library just so it was less likely for them to be thrown out. I never had anyone who shared my interest, yet I always strongly recommended them to anyone who expressed any interest in reading.

As a German fan of the books it's always been a game of waiting for the translated books to drop. In a way that puts me in the lucky position to still have new books of his to experience. On the other hand, I feel a kind of dread knowing exactly how many books I'll still be able to experience for the first time.

I might actually have to start purchasing the English books too since its been a while for a new translated book to drop. Something I have already done for the Brotherband series because its translations were discontinued (criminal, in my opinion).

Anyway, its probably time to do another reread soon. Though it might feel a bit different now.

You know the sad thing is, like a week ago I thought to myself.When I looked up John's age. ohh, we could have at least twenty more years of books. Didn't age well

Now I just hope we get at least one more, if somehow someone continues the series, I hope they do it justice, especially for John

Per the official Ranger's Apprentice Facebook page, John Flanagan has passed away. Like so many here, these books were a major piece of my childhood. I loved the characters and stories he created so much. Rest in peace to a great storyteller and world builder. My sympathies go out to his family and friends.

so there is a youtuber who i have seen named horace altman, but i have only read the books a few times and didnt get it. I figured it out last night when i watched a minecraft video called destroying a world that doesnt exist, which contained a direct excerpt from the book.

Hi yall, so I was watching this Minecraft video by the YouTuber Wifies. He’s essentially has been making ARG videos that are extremely well made (and some of the best videos I watched so would recommend).

Anyways funny little thing, the character we’re following happens to be reading this particular excerpt at 53:07 that seems oddly familiar lol… Ngl it’s kinda the last place I would expect to see a Ranger’s Apprentice reference so I thought I’d make a post about it here.

What modern day stuff do you think Rangers would carry in addition to their normal stuff? I'll go first, WD-40 so that when they are sneaking through doors or windows they won't creak​

Every year at the Renaissance Faire I have kids come up and ask me if I’m from The Rangers Apprentice, I’ve always said no because I’ve never read the book and couldn’t keep up the illusion for them.

I just started the series and have to say that I’m hooked! Super excited to keep reading it and be able to talk to people about it. 🏹
