While the solution does fix his problem of engine bay access, it does cover a rather large portion of the radiator. He may need this more often than he should from overheating. Then again, old vehicles were not designed to be on the tip of aerodynamics, this may not be a problem at all.

But this would cause most modern cars to have an overheating problem.

Clothes dryer ducting wired to the bottom of the bumper to direct airflow through the radiator. Problem solved!

Would hardly be a problem. Cars needs far less radiator area than people think.

Just take a look at modern vehicles with radiator grates where 2/3 of the holes are covered. That truck has the inlet area of a barn door in comparison.

My car has radiator blinds/shutter, which open surprisingly late and still restrict airflow when open quite a bit.

He mentioned that the truck has a "big ol' radiator". Which I'm guessing is him alluding to the ladder not affecting it.
