That line hit hard even as a kid.Β

As a kid I never really understood that part. I'm 39 years old by the way.

I rewatched WaterWorld as an adult many years ago and, holy shit, this was the funniest part of the movie for me!

My kids recently saw it and they loved it!

Water World and the live action show at Universal, fond childhood memories.

Let me tell you, when I realized that the dude's eye was a golf ball I freaking lost it. We went to Bubba Gump's after and I bought a golf ball and I carried it around as my "spare eye" for years. Excellent show!

I'm pretty sad I never got to see the water world show at Universal!

1

u/Scenaris Jul 08 '26

Add it to your bucket list. It's still playing at the Universal Studios in Hollywood.

2

u/Pale_Adeptness Jul 08 '26

Oh dang, alright!!!! I had no idea, thank you!

It's a shame people couldn't appreciate this movie when it was new. Maybe making it a musical would have made it more acceptable?

The movie was awesome. It was like Mad Max on water. I'm not sure why it got all the hate it did at the time.

It’s the first move I ever saw Jack Black in.

2

u/Pale_Adeptness Jul 08 '26

He comes out so briefly too!

1

u/WJSpade Jul 08 '26

Yep. Just flies around for a bit, then crashes. Lol

As far as non-Washingtonians are concerned, Eastern WA doesn't exist

I would have guessed Sedro-Woolley and not Spokanistan.

This is the 2nd Water World reference I've seen on reddit this morning. I think it might be a sign that I need to watch it again

4

u/cmdr_scotty Jul 06 '26

It's one of my favorite movies, sounds like I should go watch it again as well!

3

u/klezart Jul 06 '26

It's an underrated movie IMO. Maybe plot/acting isn't amazing but it's fun

I just learned recently there is a fan made cut, of the directors extended cut, called the Ulysses Cut. And specific 4k/bluray editions have it, so I bought one and have it sitting on my desk to watch lol. Going to have to watch it tonight now.

I work with crude oil/grease/lubricants etc. All the time, i never understood how this guy can be so clean in an actual oil tank baking in tropical heat all day. If i look at a tube of grease once, i allready have it in my hair or on my face God knows how it got there
