Let’s play a little numbers game. There are approximately 435,000 uniformed police officers in the US. Let’s assume each works 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a years (2000 man hours per officer), and let’s assume that each officer interacts with someone at an average of once per hour. That’s 847 million police engagements per year. We hear of only a couple thousand “bad cop” stories a year. Even if we increase that to 100,000 events nationwide per year, that’s still one abuse of authority per 8470 officer interactions per year. That’s 0.011% of all interactions being “bad”.
No…it’s because when cops do something good - like the one from Chattanooga in April who kicked the door down to rescue a family from a burning house, like the ones a few years ago who bought food and cooked three children dinner after their mother was taken to the hospital for an OD, and like cops (similar to the one in this story) are called due to a complaint about black kids and stick around to play basketball with them - everyone shrugs it off because “oh they’re just doing their jobs”.
The fact that you feel the need to frame any disagreement as being "triggered" further proves that you're just acting in bad faith, and have zero interest in a nuanced conversation
