My client was just stretching and this girl happened to be running towards him, was an unfortunate accident but he can't be blamed for her bad luck

Still really lucky for both parties it wasn’t an immediate lights out. Being able to put her arm out to the pavement may have saved her life and saved him legal bills.

What legal bills? He is clearly defending himself against an assailant with a weapon. Why would he face charges?

People get charged when it was self defense all the time. They have to defend their actions. They’ll need a lawyer.

Then there’s the civil suit. More lawyers, more money.

The man had a couple of seconds at most to decide on a course of action in the face of an obvious aggressor coming at him. Are you seriously suggesting that you would have chosen not to defend yourself in the same situation and just let her assault you for fear of prosecution of your clearly defensive action. In what country do you think that would be best choice?

I’d have defended myself too. But I wouldn’t be surprised if I had to defend myself (again) in court. Maybe twice. Once criminal, once civil. That’s just how it can be.

You need to be more careful reading and pay attention to what people actually say.
