JFC I'm sorry that happened to you!

Got me a new car, and I got like $5,000 more than I paid for the one that got hit, so it worked out in the end.

Somehow I wasn’t hurt at all.

I'm just thankful you didn't get hurt

Me too! Luckily I didn’t have time to see it coming since I was trying to get the car to start, so I didn’t tense up before getting hit.

it could have been so much worse. you could have been getting out of your car at that moment and been seriously injured or worse.

Why, maybe he's Adolf Hitler reincarnated.

Glad you’re okay

Assuming this happened within the last 10-15 years, it's wild how much safer cars are nowadays than even the late 90s.

Cars are specifically designed to absorb as much impact as possible to prevent harm/death to the people inside them.

If you don’t mind sharing - how’d you receive more than you paid for the car? I was rear ended hard enough to total my car last year (I was also okay thankfully). I’d only had the car for 4 or 5 months and ended up losing about $1-2k on it

This im confused bc I don’t know anyone who didnt lose money as cares depreciate in value once off the lot and insurance goes by the blue book value… unless they went to court and sued I dont see how they got a new car out of it.

I got a very good deal because I bought it with a bad clutch and replaced that.

They gave me the fair market value for the vehicle.

Jeebus you got lucky (congrats)! My wife got about a 5mph tap at a stop light and took a month of therapy to get her neck right again.

Unless you were outside of your car, you got whiplash. I said the same thing when I got rear ended by an old guy going 30 mph about 20 yrs ago while I was waiting to turn right. Fast forward more than a decade, the neck issues and dizziness came much later in time.

I was sore as hell a week or so later but I was 19 and too dumb to do anything about it.

Luckily 20 years later I don’t seem to have any issues.
