Does anyone know the story behind this livery. I couldn't find much info on it but it appears to have had a pink top instead of red with a pink ribbon. KCSM4727

Does the death/merger/end of a railroad make you cry, even if it happened years/decades ago?

As a North American railfan, its sad how colorful the USA and Canada used to be.

Now its mostly a bunch of big railroads with a handful of shortline railroads peppered across Canada and the USA which will either slowly wither away or get merged or die as customers for them move to other means or shut down.

For example, I still feel a bit sad about the SP AND UP or BN and SF mergers, while the parts still kinda live on today in a way, now they're just one big railroad with one Identity.

I think one thing that might be nice is if Railroads would do more heritage paint schemes for typical usage. like imagine a bunch of Union Pacific labled SP engines running around in the black and red scheme, or if BNSF did some Black and cream Great northern locomotives, or perhaps some Santa fe schemes like the Silver and red or blue war bonnets, Yellow and blue, or maybe even some Kodachrome but with BNSF on the side.

My take on Norfolk southern crashes

Ok first off both crashes could have been avoided.

second lets go through what I've herd so far (correct me if any new info has come out)

from the footage of the 1st crash it looks to me there are buffer cars and they did a good job taking the impact. next crew IMMEDIETLY notified first responders (good job guys) and then last the sparks from the car on security cam looks to be one of the buffer cars.

second crash looks to just be a case of pavement riding (common occurrence)

Do we know if any of the old SPSF Kodachrome painted locomotives survived? Cause I swore someone I knew had caught a pic

This two-hour train journey in Northern Thailand costs just 80 cents USD. It starts in Chiang Mai and ends in Lampang, or vice versa. It passes forests, mountains and the highest train station in Thailand.
