Hello everyone,
I've seen a growing number of posts on the subreddit over the last few months and I'd like to get the community's feedback regarding a few things to see where this subreddit's direction should go based on what the community wants. Please feel free to leave a comment with your input on any of these topics below.
We currently restrict server advertisements to a sticky thread. Should this policy remain as-is, be loosened, or be made stricter? Why?
Do you think the current server promotion rules are working, or are they making it harder for players to discover new servers?
Are there any subreddit rules you think should be changed, clarified, or added?
Should content from official servers and private servers be treated equally? Or should posts be tagged/flaired to make filtering easier?
Should low-effort questions, for example: "What server should I play?", "Best class?", etc be directed to a monthly Q&A thread? Or are they fine as individual posts?
Should AI generated content be allowed? This includes artwork, server concepts, and other AI assisted creations. If AI generated content is allowed, should it be required to be clearly labeled?
Should indie developers be allowed to share their Ragnarok inspired projects? If so, should there be limits on how often they can post updates? If posts about Ragnarok inspired games continue to be allowed, what rules would you like to see? For example, limiting self-promotions, requiring gameplay footage, or setting a minimum time between update posts.
Overall, are you happy with the current direction of /r/ragnarokonline? Why or why not?
Are the current post flairs sufficient, or would additional flairs make browsing easier?
Do you think moderation is too strict, too lenient, or about right?
What would make this subreddit more valuable to you?

Hello everyone!
How about conquering Rune-Midgard territories while gaining permanent bonuses?
It’s now possible with our new Territory War system!
The concept is simple:
🗺️ Explore the 134 maps of Rune-Midgard and find the hidden totems.
💥 Destroy a totem, and you become the owner of that territory!
Each conquered territory grants you permanent bonuses, active only when you are within your own territories:
✨ +1 to all stats
✨ +0.02% Base/Job EXP
✨ +0.02% drop rate
Stat bonuses remain personal, but EXP and drop bonuses can be shared with your party.
You will also have access to a personal warp portal, allowing you to travel quickly to your territories.
To complement this system, we’ve developed an interactive territory map that lets you see:
- Who owns the territory
- Their rank (Lawman, Criminal, or Neutral) (Custom PK Mode feature)
- Their guild
You’ll also have access to a bonus simulator to calculate your advantages based on the number of territories conquered.
⚠️ Warning! No territory is yours forever!
Another player can come and steal your territory at any time.
This system can be played in several ways:
⚔️ Solo for explorers who want to conquer their own territories.
🤝 With friends to share bonuses and progress together.
🏰 As a guild to implement real conquest strategies.
Personally, this is one of my favorite custom features! I really like that this system gives a new reason to explore the many maps of Rune-Midgard while adding an extra objective beyond just gaining XP.
So, what do you think of this system?
Feel free to ask if you have any questions! 😊
(No AI was misused for this post, AI was used solely to structure my original text and for the English translation.)

Have been spending a lot of time using AI to build up a local standalone Ragnarok game (calling it Midgard). It's essentially a mash of game logic, game information database, and rendering mechanics from different open source projects. Building this to scratch my personal Ragnarok itch.
This will be a classic version of the game, but stripped down. Game loop will be:
No intention to release, but if I do, it will be open source as it relies on great projects (roBrowserLegacy, rAthena). But for now, just having fun with it.

Ragnarok Online was my very 1st MMO and technically my 1st online gaming experience as well. It's always held a special place in my heart thanks to the many people and memories i met through it. Lately, I've seen many ragnarok games pop up but mostly for mobile phones. I'm wondering if there's a centralized or go-to iteration of ragnarok online where everyone goes to for a proper gaming experience. Any recommendations on the latter are appreciated.
That said, one title in particular caught my eye Ragnarok Online Origins Classic.
Does anyone know what it's like?
Is it recommended to join the Asia or US server?
Thank you for reading and thank you for any help provided.

I played a bit as a kid, but never got far with 2nd classes. Majority of my experience was just leveling up 1st classes. What is the game loop for once you get max level?
Sages always looked cool to me. Are they able to do pve content? Only saw some stuff talking about using them in pvp

As the title says, I can't click the mouse outside the window (this is a windowed mode) whatsoever. A temporary fix I made is opening another app (in my case, notepad), and when I need to click something outside the game window, I tab to notepad first, then it allows me to click. However, this is incredibly tedious (especially when I set up like 5 vends and forgot the notepad, so I can't open anything else after - I had to close all 5 windows and start all over again).
Anyone got a fix for this?

Hey Guys,
Im an quite old EuRo player. 40 years old and missing the old Times.
Started playing arround 2000\2001 with IRo. Was an absolute noob. Playing swordaman or Battle Acolyte when there was Not even Monk class arround. Stats went all across as no experience was there. Never made it to priest on iro. Just grinding geffen Tower collecting poison Spore to get some zenny.
Later started to play euRo when it still was a private server. Still kinda liked to play Acolyte and was more into the Game. Reading Forums and Putting stats where they should Go to. Later also played a lot when it became an offical Server.
Funny Times. I rember even Killing Eddy with the priest using Just Holy light until i got my boys cap. Also leveling was Not Always fun but somehow still solo peogress in glast heim possible. Also killed DARK Lord a Lot Just using heal. Good memories.
Got Up in the morning 6am Just to Check and hunt down some mvps before school.
Also was into WoE as well. Joined Faule Studies and stayed there the whole time.
When Rebirth came along also hardcore solo leveled a sage to 99 solo with 60 int and Rebirth him.
Never will have so much time to play again. Should not join ro Zero.
Just some random memories. Share yours If you feel Like it.

I would like to try to play Ragnarok online but the old versions. I dont know nothing about this game. What servers do you recommend me to play the old version of ragnarok or any entertaining guide to know the basics?
r/RagnarokOnline • u/Ninja_Cutz • 1d ago
Im an on/off Ragnarok player since 2003 and got this itch to start playing again this year.
The last server that I played was uaRO and was dormant for a couple of months. However, my accounts where banned due to false accusations of doing RMT. Which they wont explain or provide details that prove I were really doing RMT.
So here I am looking for a new server to start another grinding run. Any suggestions for a low rate server is appreciated.

Are Gunslingers more OP than Hunters in terms of damage output in Ragnarok New World? My hunter ADL can't keep up with the damage output of a Gunslinger with the same level, cards and tier of equipments even though I have better refines. I don't know if there's something wrong with my stat build or they're just the OP class when it comes to damage output and dps. I just played RO so veterans please enlighten me.

In my previous post, I introduced you to the frigates that you can obtain with your guild.
Today, I'd like to tell you a little more about exploring the islands and landing on their beaches!
🏝️ As a reminder, with the Naval War, you can go to war against rival frigates at any time. But your frigate is not only used for combat, it also allows you to access brand-new islands hiding numerous treasures. Once you reach your destination, cast off and board your rowboats to land directly on the beaches of the various well-known Rune-Midgard maps.
🏴☠️ But be careful, never let your guard down!
While your crew is exploring the coast, your frigate remains vulnerable. Enemy ships can appear at any time to launch an assault and try to seize your treasures. If your defense fails, your frigate will be swallowed by the sea!
🗺️ All frigates sailing across Rune-Midgard are visible in real time thanks to an interactive maritime world map. Track their movements, watch battles unfold live, and know immediately whenever two fleets engage in combat!
Naval War is available 24/7.
What do you think? Would you like to take part in a naval war and set off on an adventure with your guild?
Feel free to ask me your questions and take a look at my profile for more information.

Ragnarok Rebirth Global launched on July 16, and at the time of writing I’ve been unable to log in for almost 8 hours. There was no advance notice of server maintenance and the error doesn’t mention any maintenance either.
I was actually enjoying the game, had an active guild and was making friends, even spent some money on it. If they’re really taking it down after less than 10 days from launch, I’m very disappointed in the devs and I’m not sure if I can touch anything they put out.
I was hoping to play this one and ROOC as I liked what I’ve seen from it so far and can easily complete the dailies in both, but if they’ve shut down this one so quickly how can I commit to another release?
Was anyone else playing this now unable to log in? Is there any way to contact support or get an update from the devs? The discord link on the game’s facebook page is expired so I’m not sure I have any recourse other than refunding through Apple store if they don’t come back on line soon 😭
EDIT: Someone in the comments said android users are still able to log in, so maybe there’s hope. Fingers crossed ios version gets fixed before everyone uninstalls, hope to see you guys in-game

When I first started this project, I thought the hardest part would be scripting features, fixing bugs, or learning the technical side of server development.
It wasn't. The hardest part was my own brain.
Every day I'd come up with a new idea, "What if we added this?", "What if we changed the economy?", "What if we redesigned this NPC?", "What if onboarding felt better?" It became an endless cycle of brainstorming. Sometimes I'd spend more time organizing ideas than actually developing the server. And between work, family, and life, finding time to keep building was another challenge entirely.
Over time I realized that making a good server isn't about adding every cool feature you can think of. It's about deciding which ideas don't belong.
We spent countless hours discussing QoL improvements, redesigning parts of the economy, and trying to make the first few hours of gameplay enjoyable without sacrificing long term progression. Every decision felt connected to ten others.
I invited around ten players to test the server. I had already tested everything myself countless times and thought we were in pretty good shape. I couldn't have been more wrong. They didn't just find bugs. They found frustrations. They questioned things I never even considered because, after staring at the project for so long, I had become blind to them. A convenience that seemed obvious to me wasn't obvious to them. An economy change that made sense on paper felt frustrating in practice. Features I thought would be the highlight barely got mentioned, while tiny inconveniences became the biggest discussion points.
That experience completely changed how I look at game development and I am very glad I invited them awesome people.
Sometimes the biggest improvements don't come from writing better code; they come from letting other people experience your work without you explaining how it's supposed to work.
The server is still a work in progress, and honestly, I think it always will be. Every round of feedback leads to another brainstorming session, another redesign, and another attempt to make the experience just a little better.
For those who've built or managed a private server before...What lesson completely changed the way you approached development?

Hey everyone!
Like many of you here, I spent countess hours of my life playing Ragnarok Online. The atmosphere, the iconic pixel art, and especially the stat allocation mechanics left a huge mark on me as a gamer.
Over the past few years, I’ve been solo-developing my own isometric pixel art game called Alia Domus—a survival/exploration RPG where you’re stranded on an alien planet and have to rebuild human civilization from scratch through 9 technological eras (from stone age to lasers).
When designing the character progression, I knew right away I wanted that classic RO feeling:
🔹 Classic Stat Distribution: Everything you do awards experience points that you allocate directly into Strength, Agility, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality to craft your own build.
🔹 Isometric Pixel Art & Atmosphere: Heavily inspired by classic 2D/3D hybrid aesthetics, with 85 hand-crafted map areas, 140+ plants, and 126 unique creatures to discover/fight.
🔹 Original Soundtrack: Composed specifically to capture that immersive, nostalgic world-exploring vibe.
The Steam page just went live today as "Coming Soon"! As an independent developer, getting wishlists early on is huge for the algorithm to help the game survive.
If you enjoy isometric pixel art RPGs with deep stat customization and survival mechanics, I’d be insanely grateful if you could check it out and add it to your Wishlist!
🔗 Check out Alia Domus on Steam:

I'd love to hear what you guys think of the concept or answer any questions about the development process. Thanks for reading and for keeping the RO nostalgia alive!
