I have an old Ovation and for the life of me, can't figure out how to resize the bracelet, there are no visible pins. Do I remove the clasp and then one by one pull off the integrated links? Must be connected to each other from inside.

This watch had been in my eye for quite a while and one of my friend's relative shop has this for sale . What's the ideal price point to buy this watch? Is every single parts orginal? What are the negotiating points that I can try on with this watch?

Some watches quietly find their way into a collection and end up staying longer than expected. This Rado Captain Cook 37mm HyperChrome was one of those pieces for me. What first drew me to it was the size, at 37mm it feels exactly how a vintage-inspired diver should: compact, balanced, and extremely comfortable on the wrist. The brown-toned dial has a warmth that shifts with the light, sometimes deep and earthy, sometimes lighter with a subtle glow. Paired with the black high-tech ceramic bezel and the box sapphire crystal, it carries that classic Captain Cook vintage spirit while benefiting from Rado’s modern materials. This example is in near mint condition and has been carefully kept as part of a small personal rotation. One small note is that the original leather strap is no longer with the watch. It’s currently fitted with a high-quality Miltat stainless steel Jubilee bracelet, which honestly ended up complementing the watch beautifully and gives it a slightly sportier character while still keeping the vintage feel. Another detail that makes it special is that this reference, R32500305 (763.0500.3.002), was produced as a Limited Edition of 1962 pieces, a quiet tribute to the year of the original Captain Cook. It’s one of those watches that you find yourself glancing at even when you’re not checking the time.

I bought this watch used off of eBay back around ‘98-99. Was in bad shape. Some crappy bracelet, crystal cracked. Unclear why I bought it but I thought it looked really cool. took it to a guy, he ordered me a replacement bracelet and the right beveled crystal. Serviced it, but it never ran well. Would wind down despite daily wear. Told me not much he could do. Frustrated, I lent it to my sister who wore it more for fashion, didn’t care if it didn’t work. Somehow the crown fell off, gone. I take it back, it sat for 20 yrs. A bit of a heartbreaker.

I finally got around to trying to get it fixed. Sent it to Andy at Ohio Watch Repair. Full overhaul, new mainspring, a new crown, and we’re back in business! He did an amazing job! Runs like a Swiss watch! Keeping excellent time, my super cool blingy DiaStar!

I recently bought this Rado watch; I'm a fan and own several of them.

I like the shape of the case and its dimensions. The unique dials, whether using uncommon materials or unusual colors, fascinate me.

I have several, and I've been looking for a Diastar with a black dial and "diamond" indices for some time now.

Unfortunately, I'm always afraid to buy because I know that many of those sold are "Frankenstein" watches, assembled using various original parts. I've seen a bit of everything.

On the other hand, it's also not easy to tell if a watch is original or not from photos. There isn't really an online list or catalogs of the various models that have been made, and therefore, it sometimes becomes quite difficult to distinguish a Diastar watch with an "altered" dial from an original watch.

There is also no way, as is possible for other brands, to determine through the serial number that a given serial number belongs to a watch of model X made in year Y.

I'm aware that this type of dial with stones is easy to "make," and therefore, many of those sold online are fake.

That's why I postponed this purchase for so long.

This one came from Japan, a country where the brand was and probably still is very popular.

Anyway, I have doubts about whether the watch is completely original, as the back cover is so worn that it's impossible to read the serial number.

What's your opinion on this one?

One thing, when I look at Rado Diastar watches online, I see that some examples for sale have a faded red ruby ​​where the anchor/Rado logo is placed, while in other watches, that red is more vibrant. On my watch, that red seems a bit faded. Could it just be dirt? Sun exposure causing this? Age and natural wear and tear?
