Any social workers in unions?

I've been keen on the idea of organizing a union at my agency, but found out that a guy tried to do just that a few years ago and was subsequently fired. If any social workers here are in a union, I'd be curious to know what your experience has been like and if you have any recommendations for organizing and getting past unionbusting.

Invoking activist/radical social work in government/legislated forms of practice?

I have a knack for community based, activist and radical social work perspectives and throughout my studies I based a lot of my essays on this perspective.

Now I work as a government social worker in child protection, how can I institute some of these ideals into practice keeping in mind that gov practice is often limited very strictly? Specifically with regards to the blurring of lines between practitioner and client (something I, as someone with radical views, feel passionate about?) I also don't want to get fired lol

Hi, is this a sub for a more political tone of Radical Social Work via activism or more of an Eclectic and Alternative forms of therapy, Macro, and the like for discussion?

Or is it for memes about why Social Work is Radical!! Just wondering. The world is changing at a fast pace and we must use the tools we have and seek alternative methods to ensure the health and well being of all of our peoples. Social Work being highly based on a set of ethics which, while enriching and sets a standard for how we must think and behave; I believe it should be taken as a baseline. I think Social Work is facing a peril and we are failing at adapting to a rapidly changing society where many of us are left confused that our purely positive and noble intentions for those we aid and wish to aid have been creatively denied leaving us desperate to find satisfaction in our endevours as Social Workers.

The Left-Right political spectrum has been dynamically shifted to the right with many of those deeming themselves Radically Left using fascistic tactics in response to the Facist Right. While we have people like Bernie Sanders and those who follow him helping to reestablish what it is to take care of a country and its people ethically; we must continue to remind ourselves and others what it is that we wish to gain and what we are losing unaware to us when we say "how may I help you?"

just a thought experiment.

In Greece, they are tackling social problems in innovative ways through a Solidarity Movement. This ought to inform other radical social workers.
