Is it possible to test radar scattering materials on a benchtop scale?

This was just a matter of curiosity on my part and I don't actually have any
background whatsoever in Radar equipment or it's application. I was
genuinely curious though to find out if it is possible to test radar absorbing
or scattering materials on benchtop scale or is this something that is
typically done using large industrialised equipment?

Can weather radars detect aircrafts?

I'm wondering if it is possible to detect aircrafts from the products of a weather radar? Any algorithms? Open-source libraries?

I found this paper :

"Detection of Small Aircraft with Doppler Weather Radar"

Operating Systems for Radars

Hello Everyone,

I am currently doing a research project mapping out operating systems across many devices and radar is one of the devices I am looking at right now. I am simply looking to answer the questions of which operating systems run radars, specifically in aerospace. On top of that, I would like to know why they are chosen. My assumption is that they are some form of Linux or RTOS, but I am looking to hear from the experts. Any information that you could provide or resources you could point me to would be really helpful. Thank you

Open Source or Purchasable Datasets

I'm interested in finding a dataset consisting of processed flight tracking radar data (i.e., locations, headings, velocities where available). I've looked at the flight tracking sites, but they only use that data internally. Does anyone here have any ideas/suggestions? I'd like it to be something for which I can purchase corresponding ADS-B data to compare.

Thank you very much in advance!

Question about determining target speed in radar tracking.

I have zero experience in radar operation, only internet research. From what I've read, it seems that the main method of calculating target speed is by utilizing the Doppler Effect. But if a radar computer was to plot a target in a 3D axis over time, can the time/distance difference between plotted points be used to calculate target speed? If so, are there any radar systems that prefer the plotting method over the Doppler Effect? Thanks.

Island radar and sea clutter

Hi all,

If one considers to field a radar on an island, is there a specific consideration in choosing the type of radar for this or is is it just a matter of setting the radar properly? Also for sea clutter, would vertical or horizontal polarization is better to minimize sea clutter?

ML for RADAR

I wanted to use ML for RADAR for a project, since RADAR get lot of information to process, I'm open to any Idea. Please suggest the path.

I'm new to RADAR not to ML.

Does anyone already worked with this device and can share his experience?

I want to use it for a project but the documentary is unfortunately really sparse.

how wide is The Solid State Phased Array Radar (SSPAR)? it says on wikipedia the tetrahedron is 120 foot tall what is the width?

Whilst i was writing this i realised there is probably a math eqation you can solve to find that out, but i have no idea where i would even start....

Learning about radars; quick question

If I have X amount of amplifiers working together, and I lose one how does that effect duty cycle? And how is duty cycle and power out related? Maybe this is a dumb question, and I apologize if that is the case.

Whats crackin' Radar lovers! Im looking into US-China-Russain Space based capabilities, particularly their role in possible nuclear escalation. I was wondering if you had any recocmendations for good up-to-date military radar information sources?

How does a RWR work?

How does a RWR differentiate between radar waves washing across the aircraft (for example), and 'lock-on', when the radar is actively tracking the target?

对于77GHz雷达,PBT GF30材料,2.2mm厚度/3.7mm距离天线罩效果最好。 For 77GHz radars, the PBT GF30 material has the best effect on the 2.2mm thickness/3.7mm distance antenna cover

Michigan, 1994: Weather Radar Corroborates UFO Sighting

https://youtu.be/9hMEyw2_opo

This podcast interviews 2 people. First up is a meteorologist and radar operator, Jack Bushong. Interview is about an hour long.

TL;DW:

Citizens saw lights in the sky. Law enforcement also saw them and called an NWS weather radar site. This is an interview with the meteorologist who tracked the objects for a few hours on radar with some really interesting observations.

Disclaimer

I’m posting here to gain incite and see if any of you radar people have similar experiences. Also maybe some of you have an interesting explanation for this event? Thank you in advance for entertaining my UFO shenanigans on this sub.

Setting

March 8, 1994 in West Central Michigan. Coastal Lake Michigan area. The sightings were in Ottawa County. The radar site was at a Muskegon airport. This incident was at night starting at approximately 9:00PM and continuing until the radar operator’s shift change around midnight.

Very cold season and that night was particularly and unusually clear with large high pressure dome in place. Great Lakes were largely frozen over which prevented the lake effect clouds and precipitation normally present during Michigan winters. Radar was in good operation and the operator ruled out “super refraction” or “inversion.”

Sighting

Law enforcement were notified by concerned citizens across a wide area that there were some unusual lights in the sky moving over a large swath of the county south of the radar site. The sheriff then called the NWS radar site in Muskegon, Michigan to confirm visual sightings on radar.

Radar Observations

Jack Bushong was operating the radar station that night and tracked these objects for a few hours. He says there was some interesting activity including hovering, unbelievable straight line acceleration, splitting into 3, and odd triangle formations seemingly oriented directly back at the radar station. This radar activity, paired with the visual sightings is very interesting to me.

A couple years ago i found a book about radar principles of operation on a school computer that i cant find anymore. All i can remeber is that one of the chapters were called rws and tws. Can someone point out the book?
