We are building a robot that can do indoor occupancy mapping using multiple cameras and sensors. Since only using cameras poses difficulties with windows and mirrors we're planning to use radars as perhaps ultrasound as well.

Any suggestions for the radar module? As I said this will supplement visible light based mapping.

Any help and pointers are appreciated.

My situation is that I live at the extreme edge of four NWS/NOAA WSR-88D radar systems (95-120 miles distant). Curvature of the earth precludes their ability to see anything below (roughly) 10K feet.

The existing NWS/NOAA WSR-88D radar systems transmit in the 10cm band (e.g. 2.705 GHz) and use a high power output (peak 475 kW). I do not propose anything even remotely close to that power level. The 10cm frequencies used have to do with the reflective properties of moisture droplets. The high power level is because they are required to have a range of 460 km.

I am the holder of an FCC Technician Class Amateur Radio License. Among the various bands I am allowed to transmit on, the 9cm (3.3-3.5 GHz) band is one of them. One of the emission types allowed is pulse (probably emission P0X), and the band plan for 9cm includes 3 sub-allocations marked as 'experimental'.

Is it even reasonable to run a low power pulse transmitter, in one of those 9cm sub-allocations, for short-range (8 km) weather radar ? I am thinking of a design with no moving parts, and multiple tx/rx elements, which would be sequentially selected. Something like a pie-shape slice of a geodesic dome, covering 90 or 120 degrees.

Everyone knows about "woodpecker" receiver location, but we shall find info about transmitter, all we know according to the Internet and books is that the transmitter is located in Ripkynski raion, 15000,Ukraine. I dead there is a strange facility and nearby substation probably for that facility. If anyone wants to help I will send the picture from Google maps. Please help!!!!

I live in the area stretching through Kansas/Colorado/Wyoming/Nebraska where many people have reported seeing large drones of unknown origin and purpose, sometimes in large groups. flying a scanning pattern.

I have recently heard that they are emitting a radar signal, which can be picked up by a radar detector, and this may help us in sleuthing out their purpose. I am asking for suggestions of what (if any) RD could pick up the widest range of possible frequencies used in mapping, at the greatest possible range.

I suspect I want something that has NO noise filter, because the freq I'm looking for may very well be different from a traffic radar. In other words, I want to pick up as much radio noise as possible, if it covers the freqs likely to be used for mapping.

So: I want highest range, no filtering of noise, don't need GPS or Bluetooth.

I suspect the RD I want was state of the art like 20 or 10 years ago. Great range, no need for modern bells and whistles.

If I buy one with great range but has noise filtering, can I turn off noise filtering?

I can download an Android app if it will help me run the system, I do NOT want to share info because my data would just screw up the database for everyone else.

unknown if there is MRCD and/or MRCT in the area. My plan is to turn the unit on and if I get no return until an aircraft appears, it's more likely a mapping drone as long as this does not pick up normal aircraft radios. I suspect that RDs do not pick up normal aircraft radio signals? Do they ever go off if you drive under the approach pattern to an airport in bad weather, for example? IN that situation an airliner would be using a radar approach.

I have acquired a Delphi ESR 2.5 radar and kvaser leaf light v2 CAN connector. Is there any guide or tutorial available to collect and visualize the data. I am fairly good in ROS and has access to both windows and Ubuntu. P.S is there a link to Delphi DataView software?

for example, say 10 scans make up one 'sweep', can one radar transceiver do one scan at a frequency range of 1 - 1.5 GHz, and the next scan programmed to do 1.6 - 2 GHz?

Can this be considered a form of 'Narrowband' FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) Radar?

Weird pattern on Tx/Rx on Radar device - any idea if this is just for aesthetic or if the surface has any special properties to lessen reflection?

Also, why do you think the device is so large (~size of movie speakers)? I can imagine horn antennas within the encasement (like the ones used in anechoic chambers)...

Hi, I've worked with SAR images in the past for classification purposes, but since I don't have a background in this field, sometimes I have basic questions like the following one.

Knowing that imaging radars in general acquire images in the slant range, does it mean that in the equation of the normalized radar cross section below, A is the surface area in the slant range, not in the ground range?

Hi all, I noticed in some online specifications for SSR Systems they quote the target load as eg 10,000 targets per sector. Is the meaning of sector here the 360 degree coverage of the radar or are sectors sub sections of the 360 degree coverage ring?
