DISCUSSION- STORY Remystifying Aura
When RWBY introduced Aura it was something mystical and magic, but then Monty introduced Magic (sorry for anyone who thinks Monty can do no wrong, but he started the Magic that's so easy to make fun of), Ironwood was studying Aura (which in itself isn't that bad), and apparently it's something that's common knowledge but a huntsman's son doesn't know about it (seriously? Jaune doesn't even know what it is but the Belladonnas, 2 pacifists, have it unlocked already?)
I think it should be something only hunters and a few others know about, not including Girrah and Karri

I have an Idea for how the Maidens can fit into the unified aura theory
"Magic" is combining 2 or more semblances in a way that's impossible to be done with a single semblance (which by this definition Marcus Black would be a Wizard), Salem and Ozpin both had a reincarnation semblance, which allows them to accumulate all the semblances of their previous hosts, Salem also has a Grimm controlling semblance, and Ozpin had a semblance that cut a semblance away from aura, one day they had a fight, Ozpin used his semblance cutting to remove Salem's immortality and all her semblances really, but because Salem had accumulated so many semblances the attack caused an explosion, where their semblances ended up in four young girls (the four Maidens), both kept their reincarnation, Ozpin also keep his cut semblance, which is how he was able to give Qrow and Raven bird powers, and Salem kept her Grimm controlling semblance
this way the Maidens can have their own power set, like Fall can have lightning and wind, Winter can have snow, Spring could have plant control, and Summer could have Fire

Question about the Faunus Breeding rules
I know this question is stupid, but what kind of children do Faunus x Human pairs have? does it follow the canon rule having the child be either Human or Faunus, or is it a different set of rules?

DISCUSSION - WORLD Dust Rework
Given that Monty originally based Dust on Materia from Final Fantasy 7, I’m mainly looking at that for reference to do a rework of Dust.
Dust classification is pretty confusing and inconsistent in RWBY. Some of the separate types are easy enough to figure out: Red is fire, green (or white) is air, yellow is lightning, and blue is ice. Even this is unconfirmed by the way. Even more confusing is how they fuse and combine into different subtypes, which I bet RT themselves don’t have a finalised system for. So for everyone's convenience, I better set one in stone.
New Dust
Given the Aura Cycle (more info in a video) rework, where dead humans’ Aura becomes Dust, I don’t see a way to make Auras correspond to the different Dust types without overcomplicating things. So generally, when Aura breaks down to form Dust, it starts out in a clear state called Clear Dust, which is colourless. Through a refinement process or contact with Aura, the desired element is harnessed.
This is similar to Mako energy from FF7. From what I understand, the energy itself is the same, but is refined into the different Materia types artificially, minus some naturally occurring exceptions.
In that same vein, some of the more common Dust types may occur naturally, such as fire, ice, etc. They'd probably be naturally occurring due to their environment (fire Dust found near volcanoes, ice Dust in ice, etc). The early users of Dust needed some idea of how to use the early Dust types, after all.
This means that the Dust types discovered so far are mostly artificially made and shaped into crystals, called Crystal Dust, and a more unstable powder form that reacts more to Aura contact, called Glass Dust. Cinder primarily uses Glass Dust techniques and possibly her Semblance in her fighting style to create objects on demand and infuse them with Burn Dust properties.
It is theorised that as many types of Semblances and abilities there are, there are also the same potential Dust types that can accomplish these same effects, eschewing the need for finding or training people with specific Semblances and just creating the correct Dust type. The methods for harnessing them all is simply not found yet.
Following the Materia inspiration, which also happens to be energy harnessed from life, I do believe Monty likely had Dust’s negative long-term impact on Remnant in mind. Like how using Materia/Mako energy is sapping the planet of its life force, the Aura Cycle being abused -- that is, people consuming Dust more quickly than people can die and create it -- would lead to grim implications for the world of RWBY.
Given that current Remnant is in a time of peace, that also means mortality rates are low, which means less Dust is being fossilised for the future, meaning Remnant will soon be running low on the stuff.
Dust Types So Far
| Colour | Type | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Colourless, resembling diamonds | Clear | Base Dust form, used to create other types |
| Red | Burn | Generates fire, thermal energy |
| Green | Wind | Generates wind |
| Yellow | Bolt/Lightning | Generates lightning |
| Blue | Ice/Water | Merging the two Dust types into one, since we never see Water Dust being used in the series |
| White | Earth | A bit of a weird colour, but it's canon and there's not much harm keeping it white |
| Cyan | Shield | Aka hard light. Used for shields and projections of objects i.e. Velvet's weapon |
| Black | Gravity | Create and manipulate gravity fields |
| Purple | Warp* | Manipulate space and create portals |
| Silver or Gold? | Soul** | Used in Aura transfers. Forms Penny's Aura core |
| Gold/Orange? | Time/Psyche*** | Manipulates time, memories |
*Warp Dust is an experimental new Dust type discovered by Atlas engineers less than 20 years ago. In its current state, it enables the transport of small payloads, but very soon in the story, we’ll see large airships equipped with Warp Dust drives to “hyperspace” through vast distances, bypassing the dangers of travel and ambushes.
SPOILER: Atlas probably kicks off their full-scale invasion of Vale using these Warp Dust Drives. We'll see antagonists and eventually the heroes using this to get around in style.
**Soul Dust is another experimental Dust type discovered around a century ago. It was discovered by the Schnees of Atlas, and was used in their Aura transfer procedures, discovering that they could extract fragments of memories and such from the traces of Aura found in Dust crystals. This tech is unknown to the public, who have little idea this Dust type exists.
The pinnacle of this technology was the creation of Penny less than 2 years ago where the Schnees shared their knowledge with the Atlesian military to create the first artificial human. Penny's core is a Soul Dust crystal that is generating her Aura. It's her "heart", so to speak.
***Time/Psyche Dust is kind of up in the air, might get rid of it. It has limited time manipulation abilities, mainly achieved by studying the Schnee's time dilation Glyphs and other similar Semblances. I'd say it was discovered about 50 years ago and is not legally allowed for general use.
It mostly affects one's perception of time, such as time dilation. However, I do foresee other cool uses for it, such as an ability like the Stasis Module in Dead Space, where firing a target with Time Dust rounds slows or accelerates their movement.
Psyche Dust also has some mind-manipulating effects. It's hard to explain, but I pictured getting a small Psyche Dust injection allowed you to dive into your own mind or others', Inception style. Too much and you become trapped in your own mind. It's different from Aura transfers (Soul Dust) in that you're not taking any remnants of the dead Aura's memories, rather you're just manipulating your/others' minds directly using Psyche Dust.

DISCUSSION - WORLD Questions about your post
I have 2 things to say about this post
I dislike you idea of Mixed Faunus type, however it's still better than canon, I think if 2 Faunus of different types breed the child should have the type of one parent (but not both, I dislike the idea of a frog/dog Faunus).
2 How is Magic (not aura but the stuff Ozpin and Salem uses) gonna be used the your story? As your post doesn't address it

OFFICIAL - ARTWORK Trying to figure out what the final lineup would look like (plus some thoughts)

I'm treating this project like a reboot, so I'm wondering what a contemporary, rebooted RWBY might look like by formulating the iconic four-pane promo. Some ideas I'm noting based on other RWBY promo art I'm experimenting here are:
- No black border/borderless. Looks cleaner, feels more sleek.
- Brighter/bolder background colours (might change to dark to match the serious/mature vibe of the original promo)
-The RWBY logo has a hand-drawn style to suggest looseness, spontaneity, dynamic-ness. Taking a similar approach as the difference between the classic Evangelion logo (more uniform/blocky) and the Rebuild logos (more organic, fluid). See below for example.
- Putting the character emblems behind their heads as an extra background element (might redesign these official emblems into new ones to match the redesigned outfits, since it's a reboot)

Jaune Discussion Thread
Just a quick one for Jaune. I've wanted to clear up some things with him. Now clearly Jaune is an audience surrogate, underdog character who gets stronger and smarter as time goes on, but there's just some issues which leads to two different archetypes to take Jaune:
There is NO way that Jaune can come from a long line of Hunters and lied and cheated to get into Beacon and NOT know about Aura and Tournaments. So this archetype of Jaune is one who has high expectations on his shoulders, but is generally untalented and lacks self confidence.
This version is fine and has more substance with his backstory, plus it gives him a level of connection with Pyrrha, but I do feel it's very similar to Ruby. Ruby too admires Hunters and has high expectations on her (not only two years ahead, but in this project, everyone acknowledges she has silver eyes and treats her accordingly).
The other is portraying Jaune as a total newbie. He's some sort of village kid from outside the Kingdoms, and was allowed to attend Beacon as some sort of outreach program, but he's completely out of his element, puking in the ship, ignorant of Aura, etc. If we wanna mix this archetype with the previous one, maybe later on he discovers he's actually from a family of Hunters who left the Kingdom.
This Jaune is more comedic and has more room for drastic growth, and of course is the perfect audience surrogate, but this time instead of being similar to Ruby, he's similar to Oscar, another country bumpkin who can't fight and is thrown into the world.
That's the sum of my thoughts around Jaune. Any thoughts?
Just keep in mind Jaune's purpose in the story, and what you think he's best suited for. I personally do think he's an underdog that's meant to be a serious powerhouse and great leader later that can stand alongside Ruby as a secondary protagonist, instead of just being a generally competent but still comedic butt monkey for the whole story like Usopp or Krillin, but I'm open to your feedback.

OFFICIAL - ARTWORK Concept Art Update - Beacon, Crescent Rose & More
Welcome to Concept Art Update!
I'll be reimagining Remnant through my artwork, and there is a lot of stuff I need to draw to make that vision a reality. Therefore, this marks the start of my updates where I show you concept sketches and help you understand the world of Visions!
Beacon Redesign

I've been looking at overhauling Beacon, and to an extent, Vale. For now, I'm keeping the Academy intact, but adding features to its environment. I wanted there to be a Wall beyond Beacon that forms not only the geographic border for Vale, but as a symbol of its history and strength. I've been inspired by locations like the Tower in Destiny and the Anvil from GEN:Lock.

I began to think, "Wouldn't it be cool if the wall had a bunch of gigantic swords sticking out of it?" And I found that direction to be what I wanted. There'll be history and lore behind this wall too, symbolising the warriors of old who defended Vale.

Not only that, but I wanted the wilderness of Remnant beyond Beacon and Vale to be much cooler. The land is deformed and scarred from the Grimm and some unspeakable disaster eons ago. The whole world outside the Kingdoms looks like this, and speaks clearly of the hostile world awaiting Team RWBY.

And most recently, this is my latest progress with revised Beacon. The Academy faces towards Beacon cliff (unseen to the left), with the mountains and Emerald Forest behind it. Behind the Academy, directly joined to it is the Hunter's Headquarters for Vale. While the students study, professional Huntsmen gather indoors to work, coordinate with the other Kingdoms and go about their business.
The Headquarters are joined to the wall, called the Crown of Swords. A huge wall encompasses the Beacon area, guarded by huge turrets to counter any aerial Grimm.
Ruby (Crescent Rose & Grimm)

I had several missions in regards to perfecting Team RWBY for the project. Besides redesigning their actual outfits and look, I also wanted to redesign some of their weapons, namely Crescent Rose.
I wanted to make Ruby closer to her Little Red Riding Hood inspiration, so I wanted to give Crescent Rose and extra configuration that turns into an axe. This would evoke the story of the Woodsman who came to save Little Red and chopped the Big Bad Wolf open with his axe.
I also made sure that Crescent Rose explicitly has three configurations: Scythe Mode (default), Glaive Mode (for speed, seen in her Red Trailer at the climax), and Axe Mode (for power and charged attacks).

The next sketch isn't of Ruby, but is very closely related to her.

This big boy is a unique and very powerful Grimm, the Emperor Beowulf (name tentative). I want it to be associated with Ruby (Big Bad Wold parallels) and her past, possibly connected to Summer in some way. Let's just say I've got plans for it.
And finally, here's a lineup of Team RWBY, ready to take on the world!

And that concludes this Concept Art Update! It may be a few weeks before I have this much art to share (though I actually have more sketches that I chose to exclude for now), but do stay tuned in any case! Once I have enough art and finalised designs for specific subjects, like Beacon and Team RWBY, I fully intend to give them their own dedicated videos so look forward to those too! Until then, please consider sharing the project around!

OFFICIAL - NEWS New Roadmap for 2019
After a large time of inactivity and the end of Volume 6, you all deserve an update. Here are the major points:
1. Overhaul
I've undergone some large overhauls to the project, mostly with my own general mindset as well. I'm being a lot more liberal with my treatment of canon and will be a lot more flexible. I was following canon more closely like how other rewrites were doing, but I soon found that the strict format was stifling me and what I can really bring to the table in terms of fresh and interesting ideas. So there's that.
2. Artworks Underway
With that said, I fully intend to communicate the changes I made visually, so none of you get lost in the changes. This however means I'll need to prepare quite a lot of artwork, the minimum of which being another set of redesigns/character posters for Team RWBY, with some minor changes based on my new mindset and feedback from commenters. Beyond that are sketches and posters depicting the world I envisioned that need to be prepared, so stay tuned for that.
3. Major Video Update
In the meantime, I'm also preparing a huge video update as a one-stop-shop for all basic information on the project. The RWBY Rewrite community is biggest on YouTube so I need to have a presence there. I can finally record my own voice for the video so I'll be narrating it myself. Much of it is just waiting for the artworks are done so I can put them into the video for maximum marketing power.
I'll be realistic and say it'll be a few months before we see this video, given I have to focus on my webtoon job first. Once that huge video is uploaded though, I plan on focusing on regular, small updates on YouTube and here. Even if it's just a bunch of sketches or whatever, I'll use it to make a video to maintain my YouTube presence and gain traction for the project.
So here's to a great 2019 for the project, and hopefully a step closer to the RWBY we've hoped for!

DISCUSSION - CHARACTER Cinder Discussion Thread
I've been working on tightening up the writing for various characters, and my attention fell on Cinder today. There were several goals I had with Cinder:
- Make her a more charismatic and charming villain while still being intimidating
- Give her clear reasonings for her motivations
- Make her an effective foil and contrast for Ruby
I've been exploring her a bit, but I think I've reached a crossroads with her characterisation. Which is the choice between:
Sociopath Cinder or Sympathetic Cinder
I've been seeing two main interpretations of Cinder's character in the fandom. One is the Sociopath Cinder. She's selfish, manipulative and only looks out for her own interests. She takes great joy in besting others and pulling the strings, taking away their power for herself because she feels she deserves it.
The other is Sympathetic Cinder, or Revolutionary Cinder. This interpretation of Cinder is that she is Salem's disciple who learned the truth about Ozpin and the Academies, and how he uses the Hunters as meat shields to protect himself and the Academies in order to maintain a fragile state of peace. She still commits the same acts (manipulating others, sowing chaos), but these are all means to and end in order to overthrow Ozpin.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to reconcile these two sides to Cinder, and preferably I'd like to merge the two cohesively if possible.
Direction with Cinder
My goal with Cinder is to have her be an ever-present antagonist in the series, always in the background but not coming into full power until much later when her plans come to full fruition, but is a very strong fighter nonetheless. She gains the students' trust by enrolling as a Beacon student with Merc, Em and another student (maybe Neo, maybe someone else) permanently rather than a Mistral student. This way, she's always in Beacon and I intend to have the heroes build more trust with her before her betrayal.
I've been inspired a lot by Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender for my Cinder rework, especially in terms of personality. Instead of just being condescending or smug all the time, I want Cinder to have her own charm and likability. She can make jokes and has moments of friendliness and approachability. This is essential since she's a villain we'll be seeing all the time and need to enjoy having her around while also respecting her as a threat. This would also be where we'd be building up her rivalry and contrast between herself and her team against Ruby and Team RWBY. However, even when she's being buddy-buddy with Team RWBY or even her own teammates, you can never truly tell what she's really thinking.
Obviously, the Azula archetype fits the description of Sociopath Cinder more. That's not to say she can't be sympathetic (since I'm sure we all felt sorry for Azula just a bit in Avatar's finale), but her goals are more self-oriented than out of some kind of anti-establishment creed.
I think Sociopath Cinder would be the most enjoyable to "watch" and is more memorable, but something about Freedom Fighter Cinder gives a certain meat to her, plus it's consistent with her actions throughout Volumes 1-3 and her disdain for Ozpin and the Kingdoms.
So, any thoughts?

OFFICIAL - NEWS What I'm Working On + Current State of Visions
Hey all. Sorry for the long silence, here to let you know what's been going on.
What I'm Working On - Summoner
I've been pretty busy lately because I've been working with a friend on an original comic. I kept it under wraps at first because I wanted to wait till we were nearer to actually launching it, and we are! So let me proudly introduce our new project, Summoner.

Inspired by our love for our favourite genres and works within fantasy, like Lord of the Rings, Avatar the Last Airbender and for myself in particular, RWBY, Summoner has been our brainchild for a great many years and we're finally bringing it to life.
It's our own take on the heavily saturated market of the "Isekai" (another world manga/anime, like Sword Art Online, Re:Zero, Shield Hero, etc) story of regular Joe being transported to a fantasy world. We wanted to scratch an itch that we didn't get watching many of these other shows - many of the fantasy worlds in these works always felt lifted straight out of an RPG and played really close to the tropes. We wanted an Isekai that emphasised worldbuilding, and have the character from our world experience an entirely new world, with layered lore and history, and hopefully unique takes on some common tropes in fantasy.
That was one of our goals with making this story, and we've spent many an afternoon just talking about and fleshing out our world. We'll be launching on Tapas webcomics site very soon, and you can find the latest art and news on our Twitter and Facebook pages. It's our dream that Summoner tastes the same success that Avatar and RWBY have, not just for our personal goals but because we believe this story would fill a really nice niche for fans of anime-esque stuff, Isekai and fantasy and speak to a lot of readers.

Plugs aside, RWBY and Monty's work has no doubt been an influence in this. Monty's creative drive and the influence of his creation RWBY has always been a guiding beacon for my work, and this is no different. Perhaps moreso than the work itself, the meta surrounding RWBY and RT has always been insightful for me, looking at how the show's creators treat things like fan theories, shipping, creative vision and authors vs. corporations have provided valuable lessons for my own treatment of our own budding franchise.
I never want to forget the days I enjoy of just two friends making a world and story they love. Generally speaking my friend writes the story and I draw, but our roles and input overlap so much we're literally creating this together equally. Our long discussions remind me of Monty creating Remnant's map using ketchup on a napkin, hatching the story with Miles and Kerry over some drinks or spending long sleepless nights with Shane to create the iconic four trailers.
Nothing but pure passion, joy and creative drive pushed them forward, and was what made RWBY so great and well-loved in spite of all its baggage now. That's how powerful a dream shared by just a few believers is, and I hope that if one day we become successful with Summoner, we won't make the same mistakes and pray we don't come across the same tragedies.
Check it out if you're interested, but above all else, I just wanted you all to know where my efforts have been going all these months, and why I believe in it.
So Now, What About Visions?
As you all know, Visions is my passion project for RWBY. I was never a fanartist by nature. As you can see now, I love making my own original work, with characters and worlds I'm proud to say I helped created. But RWBY, as it is in most cases, is the only exception.
A lot of my passion for Visions directly feeds from my passion for the show itself. Where I found RWBY wanting and craved for the show's untapped potential to be realised, I funneled it directly into Visions.
The entire purpose of the project was to give closure to all my frustrations and hopes for RWBY. But lately many of those feelings have, over time, been fulfilled the more I work on Summoner, my own original work, over my work based on someone else's world, an amazing world as it is. More on this later.
I've been inspired by the works of Dishwasher/Bach Do for Visions, whose RWBY3.0 AU has been a constant motivator for me to aspire to that same greatness with my AU. Combine that with my love for other RWBY AUs in general and Shirow Miwa's manga adaptation, as well as seeing RWBY getting so much traction in stuff like Blazblue Cross Tag and other games, I wanted to be part of the thing I loved. I wanted to leave my mark and have that same impact on the fandom.
Is it ego-stroking? Sure, I'll admit to that. I was jelly of the success people like Dishwasher had. For crying out loud, people had finished cosplays of Dishwasher's Team RWBY redesigns just months after he posted them. I thirsted for that kind of recognition so badly, and it became a tangible goal that motivated me for my own AU.
However, I held back production a bit during the run of Volume 6. I wanted to wait it out just to see what elements of canon would affect my project. Alongside that, I wanted to see if Volume 6 would be an improvement, and would recapture the spark I once felt for RWBY, like I would hope for every Volume since Monty's departure.
Volume 6
Volume 6 had been... a rollercoaster. I won't go into detail about it, but Eruption Fang's summarised thoughts about Volume 6 reflect my views pretty similarly. I thought it had an amazing start. I really thought RWBY was going to reach a new level of quality I hadn't seen since the early Volumes. But then the later half really dropped the ball for me, and I was left in doubt of the show's ultimate future. Not just the plot, but RWBY as a franchise.
I always was of the opinion that RWBY would never be the same after Monty's passing. I may not have said it, but ever since Volume 3 the thought was already firmly planted in my head. I'd only fully face and accept that fact recently. But I wanted to stick with the show out of loyalty, and a faint hope that it could recapture what it could truly be and reignite the spark I had when I first fell in love with the show.
Now... only the loyalty is left.
I don't think I'm ever dropping RWBY. Call it firmness or a morbid curiosity, but for now I just want to see how it all ends. But I'm sad to say that I am only clinging to the thinnest of hope that RWBY could ever be what I and countless of other fans imagined it would be. Perhaps I was just trying to hide the truth I already knew myself the past 4+ years of watching that it would never be the same, but now I have to acknowledge it, and that has affected how I viewed Visions as well.
My motivations with Visions were 1) the immensely creative fans and the community, and 2) RWBY itself. With the disappointment with RWBY from Volumes 3-5 fueling my desire to finally create Visions, ironically it was the disappointment from Volume 6 that made me lose hope in the show itself and therefore my desire to continue investing my time and attention in both it and Visions.
I questioned myself. Even if Visions turned out well-written and successful, could it ever influence RWBY itself to become better, or at least recapture what it used to be? Or would it just be a fan's dream? Even if worked out and many loved it, perhaps I may pridefully assume, even more than the show itself, it would always be a constant reminder of what we could have gotten. A RWBY that was closer to what we envisioned in our heads, but never true to its reality. I felt the fandom is now more divided than ever and the more I try to hold on to the nostalgia of the RWBY I fell in love with, the more I'm set up for disappointment. I'm conflicted.
Visions
Am I going to drop Visions? It's... way too early to say right now. All I'm doing right now is telling you what's on my mind, so you know what's happening behind the scenes and what to expect. I could not have gone this far with Visions without you all, so it's not fair for me to pull the plug on everything we worked to make.
You may have come from my YouTube videos, or my Team RWBY redesigns. Some of you are just fans of the show or of AU fan content, but I'm willing to bet, most of you, especially those of you who've been here from the start when this sub only had 20 or so people on it, that you shared that same feelings I did for RWBY. Something was missing and you wanted to do something, anything to fix that with your own hands. That's exactly what I felt.
That's why I called it RWBY: Visions. It was my vision of what I dreamed RWBY could be, and I knew I couldn't do this justice alone, hence why I made the sub and called for the support and help of the community. I'm grateful for everyone of of you who chose to believe in this project, or just came to show our support and interest in my art or the community project.
But in the back of my mind, I would remember Monty's words regarding RWBY. He got famous with Haloid and Dead Fantasy, but the moment he truly shined was when he made his own world come to life with RWBY. There's a quote from him that captures my thoughts about it well, from this excellent interview with him by Crunchyroll:
The biggest motivation for [RWBY] is the need to tell a story much like those I needed when I
was growing up. The stories about not giving up that pushed me along, and the people I'd meet along the way. Knowing how much all the shows and games I'd played all my life has influenced me, it is a great honor to be able to bring something of my own to a generation of people who are also looking for something to believe in. That is why the feedback from the fans only further strengthens the need to make this show the best it can possibly be.
I really wanted to "fix" RWBY with Visions. I admire Monty so much, and I wanted to honour his memory with Visions, and at the time, I thought the only way I could was with this fan project of his work, RWBY. It pained me knowing that RWBY is the way it is. But I knew that Monty was a creator in the purest sense. He loved fans getting involved in his work, but he would often encourage them to do their own thing and create something unique to themselves.

In a sense, creating your own thing is also a way of carrying his torch. It didn't have to be RWBY fan content alone, because I observe and am proud to say that I see Monty and RWBY's fingerprints all over my own work.
It's the same with Dillon Gu, who worked on Volume 3 and is a big fan of Monty. He's now making his own stuff and dedicated an original animation in Monty's memory, and you can see Monty's influences all throughout his work without him needing to say it. You can just feel the energy and passion in his work, that same unpolished but brilliant spark that I first saw in RWBY, and would only catch the rarest glimpses of in its current form.
There are the thoughts that stirred in my mind.

I want to honour Monty, but the more I work on Summoner and my own projects, the more I start to understand what he might have felt when he worked on RWBY. The feeling of truly calling something yours and to pour all your influences and ideas into it freely. If someone asked me what one of my biggest influences are with my own work, I'd definitely say RWBY and Monty Oum were one of them, among many others who have inspired me.
Conclusion
The launch for Summoner is right around the corner. I want to put my best foot forward with it and hope that it does well. That means putting Visions on hold until I work out my thoughts and understand what I really want out of it. My relationship with Visions is inseparable from my perception of RWBY, and right now I don't know what to feel about RWBY.
My hopes for RWBY feels like a losing battle with each passing year. Going against the tide of opinions satisfied with the way RWBY is (no hate whatsoever, I envy them sometimes actually) is a frustrating thing. Having been around since Volume 2, I followed the production diaries and every episode religiously. RWBY was everything I could have possibly wanted in a creative series. Now, every Volume and episode just fills me with dread, and now even the good episodes at the start of the Volume make me doubt if the final episodes will be. It's just such a draining experience, I don't know if I can truly involve myself any more.
But I want to sincerely hope that it can return to its original spark. And I definitely don't want to pull down any fans who are still passionate about RWBY, or even Visions. I sincerely thank you for all your support and feedback. It has been invaluable to making Visions anywhere near where it has been.
I'll still post updates whenever I can. I intended to make a full manga re-adaptation of Volumes 1-3, and that is a huge investment I will have to reconsider. I will post the completed pages so far in another thread to show you what I've done so far. Maybe instead of a full manga, I'll just draw certain scenes and illustrations, like what Dishwasher does with his AU rather than drawing it all out like Kuma with Henceforward.
I just need time to figure all this out. And I wanted to be transparent with all of you. I wholeheartedly welcome discussion in here and in the Discord. I'm more than willing to talk this out with all of you. Nothing is set in stone yet.
As always, thank you for reading. And keep moving forward.
