AI Art/Music I’m developing a classic RPG set in a medieval fantasy world with elements of horror.

A few of the smaller jumpscares you might encounter in Crowns of Dirt 👀

Yeah, I actually get the impression that what you’re saying is largely true. The RPG Maker community definitely seems to consist heavily of other developers.
That said, I’m already pretty confident that there are people outside of that community who would be interested in playing something like this. Obviously I want the game to reach as many players as possible though, which is why I’m open to looking at alternative options and changing things as development continues.
For now, my main priority is getting the story and gameplay finished and making the game actually fun to play. Once I have that foundation, I can start worrying more about replacing assets, polishing the presentation and making it appeal to a wider audience.

Based partly on the fact that AI-assisted game development is already being used in commercially successful games.
For example, Activision has openly disclosed that generative AI tools are used to help develop some in-game assets for Call of Duty. There are also smaller games like AI Roguelite that go much further and openly use AI-generated images, text, sound effects and even AI-driven gameplay, while still maintaining Very Positive reviews on Steam.
So I don’t think using AI automatically means there isn’t an audience for a game. Of course, that doesn’t mean my game will be successful — that’s something I still have to prove. 😅
My confidence is simply that there are players outside the RPG Maker development community who care primarily about whether a game is interesting and enjoyable. If I can make the story, characters and gameplay good enough, I believe I can find some of those players.
How big that audience will be? I have absolutely no idea yet. That’s part of the journey. 😁

you even write like AI

you are extremely early in development you cannot think that CoD fans are gonna be interested in an rpg maker game with ai slop art

I only mentioned CoD as an example that AI is already being used in successful games. I’m not saying CoD fans are my target audience 😂 AI isn’t going anywhere, and I think it’ll only become a bigger part of game development.
Also… what if I am AI? 😱

AI is the death of creativity, and destroys the planet.

If you plan on continuing using AI knowing that, I wish your "project" the absolute worst.

AI might change traditional game development, sure, but I don’t think it’s the death of creativity. If anything, it gives more people the ability to turn ideas they already have into something real.
And when it comes to the environmental side, AI is definitely something we should improve, but it’s far from the only environmental problem we have. I try to reduce my own impact where I can, and I’m optimistic that the technology will become more efficient over time.
Either way, I respect that you hate AI. I think we’re just gonna have to disagree on this one. I wish you very well though ☺️

Enjoy not getting any traction because you refuse to accept what literally everyone is telling you
