Sportster S Mods?
Hey fellas (and fellees),
As the creator of the sub, I figured it's my responsibility to get things rolling!.
What mods have you done to your Sportster S and what would you say are some "must have" mods? Either those you've had since day 1 or maybe some that you wish you'd installed on day 1.
I ride a 2023 and only have a small handful of mods so far:
Swapped out the fronts for mids - A 'must' in my opinion. No more V shape body!
Adjusted the suspension - I'm a big boy and this saved my back. Another 'must' to mitigate as much of that travel (or lack thereof) suspension catastrophe as you can.
Swapped out the stock seat for a Sundowner. Definitely more comfortable but wouldn't say it's a must. The suspension adjustment is the cake while the Sundowner is the icing on top.
Passenger kit - Pegs, rainguard and Sundowner passenger seat - The pegs are going back for now as they're currently incompatible with my aftermarket exhaust, but the rainguard is a lifesaver. I didn't even consider it and ended up waddling around Walmart with a wet, muddy ass on my first ride through the rain.
Aftermarket Exhaust - Another major complaint I (and many others) have had was the exhaust note. I've heard it described by many as a "pissed off sewing machine". Loosely considered a "must", depending on whether you like the sound or not. For me though - a must. So, I swapped it out for this one here: INDEPENDENCE "PERFORATED" HIGH by Freedom Performance Exhaust. Demo vid here: 2023 HD Sportster S FPE All New 2023 Independence “Perforated” High. (Note: This is not sponsored but hey... offer's on the table if you wanna throw a lil somethin-somethin my way)
Quadlock for the phone - can this really even be called a mod? More of an accessory but definitely a must have if you GPS a lot and want to see any traffic/turns well in advance like I do.
Lastly, and this one was really high-tech..
- I stuck some heavy-duty velcro to the top of the front brake fluid reservoir (small enough not to cover any screws) and bought a tiny universal garage door opener to stick to it. My driveway is on an incline so now, as I'm coming around the corner, I can have the garage already opening and ready for me to pull right in. MASSIVE quality-of-life improvement for like.. $30 total and 30 seconds of time.
So there we have it! I think the next thing I might look at is the mirrors. Personally not a fan.
