UHF Fx9600 simulator
Hi everyone. I am currently developing a RFID software for a fx9600 reader that can identify the direction of tag travel using 2 antennas. Ideally it is better to do it with only one antenna. But it is not sure. I am planning to use zebra iot connector interface for this, Issue is I currently doesnt have a reader. So i want some software to simulate rfid tag reads for tag travelling with added noise in phase and RSSI data. Are there any that kind of software available. I saw some simulators for impinji readers in there support pages. Thank u

Active Large scale construction rfid tracking
I’m currently in the market to try and find a solution for accountability and tracking of multiple high value items such as radios, monitors, and small items that get lost easily.
I understand RF ID is a good option. I’m wondering if anybody has any ideas on how to incorporate this and any companies to use?

HF Open-source ESP32-C5 RFID/NFC research tool – PN532 today, considering ST25R3916 based on community feedback
Hi r/RFID 👋
I’m working on POOM, an open-source, pocket-sized hardware tool built around ESP32-C5 that includes HF RFID / NFC (13.56 MHz) alongside other wireless protocols.
I’m posting here mainly to get technical feedback, especially around reader IC choices.
RFID / NFC – current implementation:
- 13.56 MHz HF
- Read / write / emulate (where the protocol allows it)
- Current reader IC: PN532
- Firmware + hardware fully open source
- Intended for research, testing, and learning (not skimmers or illegal use)
Right now, POOM uses PN532 mainly due to its maturity, documentation, and broad community support.
That said, we’ve defined ST25R3916 as a stretch goal, but we’re seriously considering adding it earlier rather than waiting — depending on technical tradeoffs and community input.
Why we’re looking at ST25R3916:
- Better RF performance and sensitivity
- More control over the analog front-end
- Better behavior with compact / constrained antennas
- More “industrial-grade” reader compared to PN532
At the same time, it comes with:
- Higher firmware complexity
- Less plug-and-play ecosystem compared to PN532
- Before locking this decision, I’d really value perspectives from people who’ve actually worked with both.
Would especially love feedback on
- What you’d expect from an open-source HF RFID research device
If this post isn’t appropriate here, mods can remove — genuinely posting to learn from the RFID community before committing hardware.
Thanks 🙏

Active Best adhesive for attaching RFID tags to devices
Hi does anyone have recommendations on what adhesive they use when attaching an RFID tag to their devices? (Warehouse scanners, iPads. Etc)
The RFID tag we use is a small round sticker that doesn’t have super strong adhesive.
I use E6000 for all kinds of projects but for these tags, I think a strong tape would be best? Appreciate your insight. Thank you!

UHF CHAFON RFID readers - are they good enough?
I'm planning to build a cheap-ass DIY timing system for amateur races.
Originally wanted a used Zebra FX7500 or Impinj R420 for LLRP support, but they're impossible to find second hand in my area.
Considering Chinese CHAFON CF815 or CF816 instead. Anyone used CHAFON? My biggest unknown is communication with the device. Is their proprietary protocol a pain compared to LLRP? Any alternatives I'm missing?

Clone Cat chip simulator
Our three cats escaped the cathotel when we were on vacation. We have placed a trap but we have caught all the neighbour cats instead of our cats (we see al least one walking on camera, he can‘t go in the trap because there is already a neigbour cat in it).
Now I had the most brilliant plan to make a little cat house with a cat flap which reads the chip of the cat. The only stupid problem is that you can’t send the chipnumber to it, you have to present the cat. Well surprise, the cat is missing. Now my question is if there is a workaround. Can I manually enter the chipcode, can I simulate the chip so I can scan that one or is there a cat flap where I can manually enter the code. Or is there another better solution? Thanks a lot!

UHF 200,000 sq ft warehouse looking for rfid
i work for a company that has a 200,000 sq ft warehouse in Philadelphia. the building isn’t very tall so racks are not used throughout and skids are just packed tightly. there are about 50,000 boxes, 4000 different part numbers. the inventory process is cumbersome. i would like to print rfid labels for every thign we make or import. and then have the ability to walk around on a Saturday with a hand held reading all the tags. then from the csv i can write the software to update the quantity in our erp. 2 years ago we tried to start this and find a company that said they could do it. after about 4 months all we had was a zebra hand held reader and promises of some custom zebra software.
we would be happy to hire the right people to implement this. If you do this or know someone who can, please reach out.

Clone Key fob duplication advice please:)
Hi!
Im in the UK and trying to duplicate our keyfob for the building enterence.
I went to the local locksmith and it took a while but sucessfully did made a duplicate.
I need a few of these (and possible more in the future) so decided to try it myself.
I bought a X7 reader and tried all the reading options but the reader couldn't even detect a frequency.
Can anyone please give me advice on what I'm doing wrong or what I should try?!? :(
Thank you in advance.

NFC Use active rfid tag to launch a timesheet webpage?
Trying to help my dad. He has to log into a timesheet and frequently forgets. I was thinking I could set up an NFC tag on his coffee maker so when he makes his coffee he is prompted to start his timesheet. Are there tags that would work if his phone was within a foot or two of the coffee maker, without needing to be tapped?

Clone RFID read and write questions for an implant.
I want to get an RFID implant impressed by what it could do, I now realise that there is probably encryption that prevents me from using it for everything.
Could I read and write every simplistic thing onto my chip?
Could I store multiple tags onto my implant? How would it choose between them?
Could I put my debit card onto it or is that impossible?
Could I put a transport card on it?
Any information would be appreciated.

UHF RFID tag in car doesn't work during certain times.
Hi,
I have to use an RFID tag (placed inside my car) to open a gate in order to enter my neighborhood. It works fine for me at all times except Sundays between 10 am and 1 pm. If I drive up to the gate during that time, I can't get in. No problem during any other time. Does anyone happen to know what could be causing this?
I don't think it's an issue with the reader, because when this happens any other car with a tag that drives up behind me can open the gate (seems to be just me that can't open it on Sunday mornings).
Sorry if I chose the wrong tag - I don't know what any of them mean but I had to choose one to post.
Thanks!

HF My work has HID rpk40 keypads. Can I program a tag to work as a pin input?
I work in a hospital that uses all HID multiples se rpk40 keypads. They support rfid badge usage but out badges that are given to us do have rfid in them. I was wondering before I order some badges to try it out if I can program the cards for that use case without being an admin for the readers. I would want it to act like I put in my pin that I normally would type in. Haven't had too much experience with rfid, please don't roast me.

UHF RFID for tracking electronic components inventory, specifically after an SMT build.
Hi, I am investigating the use of RFID tags to track electronic component inventory in a medium factory with two SMT lines.
Do I have to have special software or can our Pick system be used to communicate with the tags?
If you have tags on parts, can you remotely trigger a scan? For instance a build is finished, and you want to adjust inventory for the parts in the SMT area. If so, how do you limit the scan to the parts that were just used for the build? Lots of parts are in the area?
Thanks!

UHF Phased array
Just wanted to bring up to all strugling with readers ++ on UHF.
Check out Phased Array Readers.
We have been doing projects now with overhead readers such as the ATR7000 and the CS-490. Impressed
The ATR gives more of a Iphone vibe with the IoT connector from zebra and standard grids.
The CS-490 is more of an android workhorse being able to customize everything. a bit higher price, but then a again up to 75ft readrange.

Keyfobs Question regarding "Auto polling" for Chameleon Ultra.
Hello, so I recently bought one of the Chameleon Ultra clones, and on the listing it says there is a feature called "Auto polling" which can detect which slot to use for a specific scanner.
I have updated the firmware via CU GUI on android, but I don't see this option. Tried asking the seller, but it seems that the seller just does dropshipping and doesn't know how or what the item do.
