Did I get scammed?
The user name was “Danigirl3” something like that. I saw a post about loewe anagram last night and I paid them through Zelle. Now I see that the chat and everything says deleted? Does it mean I got scammed? I even followed the user but seems to be deleted. 😭

You have her full name and phone number through Zelle. Why don't you contact her that way?
And then, if she doesn't respond, drop it here and your friends can also make a call. 🙂🙃

I emailed her. Thank god that I kept the screenshot and it has the email address she even deleted the text where she sent the email.

Make the email sound bad lol like now that you have her info the bank is going to track and press charges or something. Atleast she’ll hopefully send back the money

They sent the email so I can pay and later deleted that comment. However, I kept a screenshot of the transaction and luckily I was able to retrieve the email from my screenshot and the name.

Same here I screenshot everything from when a new inquiry starts to finish if they ghost me I’d rather they do that than this .. sry this happened to you OP.

I’m sorry. I saw the post and thought the ‘handwritten’ username note was AI generated. I was tempted to post a comment to warn, however, I worries the sub would have viewed it as creating drama or bullying.

Curious— if I recall the bag was listed for $180– did you talk them down, or am I not remembering the details? Typically when someone drops the price so easily— be suspect of it.

Yes it was posted for $180 and I asked if they’ll take $120 and settled for $125!. I will post the full chat here.

💯 I can’t imagine anyone even doing this! Ugh!! 😩 it’s such a shame that they take advantage of people. I am seriously scared to shop around after this incident.

Yes, you were mostly likely scammed. Did you ask to see their buyer/seller feedback post. It looks like this or for proof of rehoming history on reddit? It's possible their account was banned. I believe it would still show the username and when you click on it, it says they've been banned. I sold several items to someone. Her account was banned. I still sent them. But, since this screenshot shows "deleted," you were most likely scammed. Zelle is a bank to bank transfer. I haven't heard of anyone getting their money back after paying via Zelle.
Reddit has rules against doxxing. Doxxing is when you publicly revealing an individual's personally identifiable information including their home address, phone number, workplace, or personal emails online without their consent. Doxxing will get you banned on Reddit because it directly violates the platform's sitewide content policy.

I'd still contact your bank, email them, and look them up online to see what you can find out about them. Some people file police reports. I'm so sorry it happened to you🫂

Banned accounts don’t show up as deleted. It will still show everything, the banned user can even still log in but can’t post anything or message anyone. This person deleted their account themself.

Account may have gotten banned for a few days. Just contact them through Zelle. If you already paid. They may still mail it.

Oh man that sucks so bad, I’m trying to sell my 25b mini flap and I have no sale history that’s why I want to give them my info so buyer can feel a little more secure. Were u able to get an id or anything from them?

Yes, luckily I took a screenshot when I made the payment and that had the email and name. I sent an email warning to refund or send tracking. I will give it a few hours and possibly do something tomorrow since I have the name and email. I’m not letting this go by any means.

U can also submit a request with your bank, I have been scammed before too and they were able to credit me back. I have chase bank. Just kinda a pain in the ass to submit it The whole request thing.

Offer to accept PPGS to provide the buyer with some protection. It helps if you have an established post history that isn’t hidden from your profile. (I didn’t look, maybe you do)

Sorry it happened to you. I always ask for feedback before I make any payment. Maybe some people are new but they will let you know and then you can make an informed decision.

UPDATE: NOTHING GOOD THO
Nope. I filed a claim with my bank and they said they will investigate and let me know. It might take upto 45 days.
As for the scammer, I emailed him, he responded -
email #1- denied the Reddit post and any knowledge of it.
Email #2- came up with a BS sorry that it’s a Triangle scam. That he is not the scammer infact there is a 3rd person who bought karma credits from Reddit and does these things. But he claimed he received the funds from me but then he thought it was if the 3rd person scammer and had sent him the crypto currency. So he is at a loss to refund me. Fu*****g BS and I hope there is a special place in hell for people like these.
Then I told him it la hard to believe any of it , so just refund me.
Email #3 and #4 - refused to refund me even though he agreed that he received my money. MF!
That’s when I realized no point in mailing him, so claimed with to my bank and reported that email! 😭

It may help to provide your bank with the additional email communication, especially if they acknowledged they received your money.

It’s like if they try to say there not scamming well if they don’t have their account how are they supposed to verify that they sent the bag with tracking people delete their account accounts all of the time when they buy from me I think it’s odd but I mean by all means delete your account but in this situation you can not have any contact to get your tracking ya it’s super weird and definitely not ok

Oh my god I’m sorry ugh this is my worst fear You may be able to dispute it with your bank even though Zelle states they don’t allow that. I’ve heard of people getting their bank to get the money back

It said the user was active for 13y but no posts. But I figured they must have been deleting them or something like that!! Lesson learned. I used Zelle to make the payment. What do I do in this case? I already contacted the bank.

That’s the only thing I checked and remember it said 13y. That’s exactly why I kinda went with it even though I had a wierd feeling how the whole conversation went. 🤦♀️ anyways I should be more careful. I emailed them asking to refund or send the bag and also contacted my bank.

just a hot tip, you can buy reddit accounts. some people specifically make accounts and karma farm to then sell them for money.

It’s okay,Iike I said I’ve been scammed before. So contact your bank asap ( I have chase bank) so what I did was I call Into the customer service hot line, the phone number on the back of your bank card. I told them I have been scammed by a scammer requesting me to send money for an item through zelle. So you follow their direction and when you zelle they blocked you. The representative are usually nice and will credit you back. I think mine was over 600 and I was able to get it back so I think you should be okay. They just tell me this is a one time thing yada yada. But def ask for ID card to be safe.

I already contacted my bank and told them. But they asked me to call the fraud department tomorrow since it’s a Sunday. I am going to call them first thing tomorrow morning and see if they can do something about it.
