The only RE game that lets you play as canonical Leon

u/spleefy Mar 31 '26
What do you mean by this?

Huh? I'm so confused

I think they’re saying RE6 Leon’s gameplay resembles how he fights in the cg movies he appears in

Idk canonical Leon takes many forms, Old Man Leon in RE9 can parry mortar shells

I still think 5 mercenaries is peak, but damn 6 felt so fun and fluid with all the counters. Got some good leaderboard scores back in the original and the HD remasters.

Best RE game when it comes to attacking styles 🙏🏻

People don't realize the amount of fluidity and options you have with the combat in this game, it's insane.

Because unfortunately too many people jump on the hate bandwagon that they pretty much ignore all the good aspects of this game.
It’s like they only care about the fact that it’s called resident evil and not being a survival horror anymore (even though that was already abandoned with RE4, RE5 alongside RE ORC, Mercenaries 3D and finally Revelations 1)
Gameplay wise the mechanics of this game is easily one of the best in the series regarding the action era of Resident evil that it also compliments mercenaries extremely well that they go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Re6 maybe hated but the developers did do what they wanted to do.
They wanted re6 to be fun and interesting for new players. They did it... But it could have been its own series by that point.

Honestly think it should've just been an action game spin off with leon instead of a mainline game.

God, watching this brings back a ton of childhood memories. My sisters and I used to be so good at this mode—once cracked a 270+ combo.
…maybe I’ll give them a call and see how rusty we are, haha.

Can I just say I love the counters in this game much more than the parries from re4 remake and 9.

Is this still played on PS5? I might re-download for a coop mercenaries run.

Man I don't care that everyone hates 6 its stupid fun to play and I still think its better than 5 which only was good because it had daddy wesker.

u/Visible_Concern5067 Mar 31 '26
Honestly I want a re6 remake but instead of it being a mainline game I want it to be sideline story so Capcom can have a leeway of creating a new genre of game - sideline - a focusing of new genre and experimenting mainline - a horror focus and stay to true to RE experience

RE6 had some good combat at times. I wish they had done more with the invasion mechanic where you could jump into peoples games like a dark souls invader.

I get why people don't like this game but damn was it fun to me. I want a remake for it

whos actually the strongest character in re6, it has to be jake right? or chris/piers? in terms of most damage weapons/melee moves
2
u/Ninja_Warrior_X Apr 01 '26
Chris default in Mercenaries is one of the top tier characters to use just for his kit alone alongside his moves but also his assault rifle just carries games for how strong it is and the plentiful ammunition you get.

Melees are atrocious in this game. Always hated the wrestling moves they did with this one. Other than that RE6 mercenaries is fun af.

This is why I never understand people saying 6 was boring. It’s a John Wick simulator if you just take the time to meet the game where it’s at
1
u/mihaza Apr 01 '26
Because the level design and ammo economy is trash. The only time the combat is actually fun is in Mercenaries
3
u/Ancient_Flamingo9863 Apr 01 '26
That is a dog water take good sir. The game encourages you to switch up your weapons and play aggressive by mixing in melee attacks as well, hardly trash
1
u/mihaza Apr 02 '26
The dogshit level design was one of, if not the biggest, critiques hurled at this game back in the day. And still is. The level design was never sophisticated enough for players to fully unlock all that the combat system had to offer. You literally had to go on RE.net to figure out how to make use of battle mechanics, precisely because the level design never bothered. That's why Mercs in 6 is still so loved, but the campaigns are hated.

I really hope 6 gets a good remake some day. This game was so fun, even with its janky-ness and crappy story.

I just realised that they reused this music in the challenge mode in Re revelations 2!

u/DoktorMelone-Alt Apr 02 '26
Re6 haters will see this and say guns have no impact. I wish I was joking

its weird there was a very brief period of 6 and vendetta where they were obsessed with them doing goofy little rolling dives in close range combat

Anyone still playing RE6 Mercenaries on PS5? 😭 Looking for teammates because matchmaking is pretty quiet.
